POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides comprehensive specialty health care to a population that has multiple health care needs in the University Health network of community-based ambulatory care centers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Completion of residency program from the time of graduation from medical school in excess of the traditional time period for the practice specialty must be fully explained in writing. All incumbents will be expected to be board certified in their specialty or be eligible for board certification. Must obtain board certification in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff bylaws.
LICENSURE
Must possess current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas. Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff bylaws. POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of clinic physicians. Responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients by completing medical histories, conducting physicals, establishing diagnosis through tests, and formulating treatment plans. Provides follow-up and health maintenance care of patients in accordance with protocols approved by a physician.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Successful Completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or by that committee's predecessor or successor entities is required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is recommended. Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas. Under the direction of the health care provider, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and wellbeing of all patients. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measures blood pressure, records weight, temperature, pulse and respirations and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols.
What you’ll do:
- Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
- Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.

- Provides appropriate pre- and post-surgery information, organization of surgery scheduling management.
Referral Liaison
- Meets with patients both in person and by phone and is the point person in their coordination of care.
- Works closely with insurance companies and makes referrals according to their guidelines and policies.
- Coordinates referrals with other provider’s offices in a timely manner.
- Implements and follows a tracking system for all referrals.
- Processes requests for physical forms/immunization forms for parents, daycares, and schools as time allows.
Lab
- Performs laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), and maintains records of tests performed and results received.
- Reports results and pertinent information to patient and health care team members.
- Complies with regulatory agencies (i.e. CLIA, COLA, OSHA in operation of lab).
- Responsible for quality control and proficiency testing appropriate for the testing performed ensuring that levels are maintained throughout the entire testing procedure from the initial quality control, throughout testing, and reporting of test results.
- Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever tests deviate from established performance specifications.
- Coordinates a variety of procedures, exams and diagnostic equipment.
