This role is responsible for architecting, building, and deploying a production-grade AI operating system that automates core workflows across leasing, property management, accounting, construction coordination, and asset management.

Responsibilities

Technical Execution

• Enterprise Fabric Management: Lead the implementation, optimization, and operation of Microsoft Fabric artifacts, including Lakehouses, Warehouses, and Notebooks, within a production environment. Ensure performance, scalability, and cost efficiency across capacities and OneLake.
• Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, and monitor end-to-end ELT/ETL workflows using Azure Data Factory and Fabric Data Factory. Integrate new data sources reliably while maintaining data quality, observability, and fault tolerance.
• Medallion Architecture: Refine, scale, and enforce Medallion Architecture patterns (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to ensure data quality, lineage, and performance at every stage of the data lifecycle.

Leadership & Operations

• Production Reliability: Serve as a primary steward of the production data environment. Proactively monitor system health, resolve incidents, and optimize SQL and Spark workloads to ensure platform stability and performance.
• Platform Standards: Partner with the Director of Data Platform Engineering to define architectural patterns, tooling standards, and operational processes that scale with the organization.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Experience, Skills, & Ability Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in Data Engineering with a primary focus on the Azure ecosystem.
• Deep expertise in Azure-native tools, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), ADLS Gen2, Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, and Azure SQL.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python, including PySpark, for data transformation and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric in a production environment, including OneLake concepts and capacity management.
• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including Star Schema design and semantic layer development using DAX.
• Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD, version control, and engineering workflow management.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years in Software QA/Testing, with 2+ years in AI/ML or LLM-based systems; hands-on experience testing agentic/multi-agent architectures.

• Strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript; experience building test harnesses, simulators, and fixtures.

• Experience with LLM evaluation (exact/soft match, BLEU/ROUGE, BERTScore, semantic similarity via embeddings), guardrails, and prompt testing.

• Expertise in distributed systems testing latency profiling, resiliency patterns (circuit breakers, retries), chaos engineering, and message queues.

• Familiarity with orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, DSPy, OpenAI Assistants/Actions, Azure OpenAI orchestration, or similar).

• Proficiency with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), observability (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog), and feature flags/canaries.

• Solid understanding of privacy/security/compliance in AI systems (PII handling, content policies, model safety).

• Excellent communication and leadership skills; proven ability to work cross-functionally with Ops, Data, and Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-agent simulators, agent graph testing, and tooling latency emulation.

• Knowledge of MLOps (model versioning, datasets, evaluation pipelines) and A/B experimentation for LLMs.

• Background in cloud (AWS), serverless, containerization, and event-driven architectures.

• Prior ownership of cost/latency/SLAs for AI workloads in production

JOB SUMMARY

The Modeling Officer will support Sequoia’s in-house modeling capabilities helping to develop, iterate and synthesize estimates of emissions reduction impact across multiple grantmaking portfolios. They will collaborate with external and internal partners to identify, model and interpret multiple scenarios of future emissions, and implement probabilistic discounting methods to those scenarios. In collaboration with others, they will develop and implement purpose-driven quantitative analysis that informs philanthropic decision-making, using efficient, credible methods and tools. The Modeling Officer will work closely with grantmaking staff to interpret quantitative findings into actionable insights. The Modeling Officer will report to the Chief Evidence and Learning Officer, and collaborate closely with other members of Sequoia’s Evidence and Learning and Executive teams.

Essential Job Functions & Key Outcomes

Supports Sequoia’s in-house modeling of impact [50%]

• Supports the identification of existing emissions projections, or where necessary builds quantitative estimates of future emissions relevant to Sequoia’s grantmaking portfolio.
• Implements one of multiple existing probabilistic methods to inform decisions about strategic prioritization, and where necessary collaborates with others to expand those methods.
• Provides written and verbal insights to Sequoia’s grantmaking teams on the implications of the modeled results, and iterates the analysis to align with decision-maker needs.
• Engages in generative discussions with other members of Sequoia staff on novel methods and approaches, that balance the need for credible methods with efficiency and practicality.

Supports philanthropic decision-making with purpose-driven analysis [50%]

• Interprets and translates strategic questions into clear, compelling data products that support decision-making.
• Efficiently deploys appropriate data collation, wrangling and analysis methods in a reproducible manner, to provide credible, timely analysis.
• Builds and maintains systems, tools, and processes for quantitative and qualitative analysis of sensitive information from multiple organizational partners in collaboration with colleagues.
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously, time-boxing analyses where necessary to align with decision needs.
• Provides critical review of other analytical products.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education, Experience & Credentials

• Advanced degree in science, physics, statistics, applied mathematics, or related field required.
• A minimum of three years working in climate policy, science or philanthropy in a research or modeling role is required.
• Familiarity with Bayesian probabilistic models is preferred.
• Experience with AI-assisted qualitative analysis, including using large language models for structured information extraction (e.g., developing coding schemas, applying classification frameworks to new materials) is preferred.
• Experience in data visualization for decision-makers is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in R and/or Python and GitHub required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position entails firmware development in conjunction with coordination with architects, BIOS developers, vendors, and quality assurance teams to develop robust, innovative OpenBMC firmware releases for customer reference boards. Responsibilities include BMC firmware development in an OpenBMC environment, upstreaming work to the OpenBMC community and troubleshooting existing designs.

A successful candidate will employ solid software methodologies, manageability design expertise, debug capabilities, and strong process practices to ensure on-schedule, defect-free firmware deliveries with focus on continuous feature and code improvement.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Previous BMC Firmware development experience mandatory (Dell iDRAC, Dell CMC, HP iLo, etc)

• Highly Proficient in developing User Interface based on Java Scripts, Network socket concepts

• Experience with Open Source Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Software Stack (OpenBMC)
