Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Vehicle Management System (VMS) Requirements Engineer to join the VMS Requirements team located in Hazelwood, MO.

These roles will support new product design, development, integration, and flight test for the expanding Air Dominance portfolio, including the newly awarded F-47.

Join the VMS Requirements team to work across disciplines and help us design elements of the VMS Software Application. You will collaborate with our hardware, software, and labs teams to implement and test your designs. Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Electrical, Mechanical, Aerodynamics, and other engineers are all welcome – to succeed in this role, you will need to leverage your area of expertise and quickly learn on the job about other areas to develop capabilities for our Vehicle Management System Computer. You will get to see tangible results of your efforts as you contribute to an exciting new aircraft development program in the St. Louis area.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop software requirements and design for a Vehicle Management System (VMS)
• Apply model-based system engineering techniques to design and verify system requirements
• Interpret requirements to formulate and test mathematical models
• Work with subject matter experts, design solutions for a variety of capabilities such as airplane subsystems (i.e. actuation), signal processing, redundancy management, system monitoring, and controls
• Coordinate and integrate requirements across engineering disciplines
• Verify and validate software against designed requirements in virtual and hardware test environments
• Conduct analysis to support certification of a Vehicle Management System

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Principal MMIC and Module Design Engineer to join Raytheon’s RF Microelectronics/Module Design & Foundry Services department in Andover, MA. This department develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. The successful candidate will develop state-of-the-art MMIC and module products that support air and missile defense systems and radars. Using advanced semiconductor and module technologies, they will be responsible for the complete product cycle of the MMIC, including concept, design, layout, test, evaluation, and interfacing with the customer.

What You Will Do:

• Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the MMIC design field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products
• Design RF structures and transitions on multi-layer, multi-channel RF Modules and analog circuitry enabling both receive and transmit behavior
• Consult across MMIC design, module design, test and assembly teams
• Act independently to troubleshoot, and uncover and resolve issues
• Research and develop new technology that results in new product/business opportunities for Raytheon
• Serve as a technical resource and represent the Department as a technical contact to Raytheon and external customers

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of relevant work experience with RF/microwave/mm-wave MMIC design, module/subsystem design and test. An advanced STEM degree can count in lieu of some experience)
• Experience with Circuit Simulation tool ADS and in EM tools such as HFSS, Momentum
• Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits and modules
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

We are seeking Systems Engineers with Demonstrated ability to apply systems engineering principles in modern software environments, with strong understanding of DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD practices, and cloud-native architectures. • Contribute to risk, issue, and opportunity management; assess and report technical readiness and critical path impacts.
• Drive continuous improvement of integration and test processes, incorporating automation, metrics, and lessons learned to increase efficiency and reliability.
• Document integration results and test findings for design reviews, readiness assessments, and formal customer deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers; at higher levels, provide technical leadership across projects and broader mentoring responsibilities.

• Prior work on software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, flight test, or distributed system integration.
• Knowledge of certification and compliance frameworks relevant to the program (FAA, DoD, NASA, etc.).
