Farmers Branch, TX 4 hours ago ✦ New

Job Description

About Us

We’re Switch and Click, a YouTube channel and media company focused on helping people fall down their next tech rabbit hole.

Every month, millions of people watch our videos.

We’re a small, fast-growing team, and we’re looking for someone to help us expand into deeper, more technical content, specifically around servers, homelabs, NAS setups, and IT-style projects.

Why Work With Us

This is a place where your work actually matters.

We’re a small team that’s scaling quickly, which means you’ll have real ownership from day one. The things you work on get published, seen by millions, and directly shape the direction of the channel.

We care about results, not micromanagement. If you’re the type of person who takes initiative and moves things forward without being told every step, you’ll do well here.

It’s a fast-moving environment. Priorities shift, projects evolve, and not everything goes perfectly, but that’s also where the best ideas come from.

If you enjoy figuring things out and turning messy ideas into something great, you’ll feel at home.

Location

Dallas, TX (in-office)

The Role

We’re looking for a writer focused on servers, homelabs, NAS systems, and IT-style projects.

This isn’t a traditional writing role where you’re handed a topic and asked to explain it. You’ll be building things, testing them, sometimes breaking them, and then turning that experience into a story people actually want to watch.

The job is about translating complexity into clarity without losing what makes the topic interesting in the first place.

Our videos blend storytelling, hands-on experimentation, and practical takeaways, usually with a bit of self-awareness and humor layered in.

What You’ll Actually Do

You’ll take ownership of the entire video process, from idea to final edit.

That includes:

  • Researching and testing projects like NAS builds, home servers, and networking setups
  • Writing long-form YouTube scripts (15 to 20 minutes)
  • Working closely with the production and editing team to bring the video to life
  • Refining the story as the project evolves
  • Giving detailed feedback on edits to improve pacing, clarity, and engagement
  • Figuring out how to visually explain technical concepts that don’t naturally translate on camera

On-Camera Expectations

This is primarily a writing role, but you should be comfortable being on camera when needed.

That might mean showing up in b-roll, being part of member's-only content, or even hosting small video segments. You don’t need to be a full-time host, but you should be able to speak clearly and naturally on camera.

Growth Path

For the right person, this role can expand far beyond writing.

Strong performers here tend to grow quickly because they own real projects and see direct results from their work. Over time, that growth can take a few different directions depending on your strengths.

If you enjoy being on camera and develop that skill, there is a path toward becoming a more consistent on-screen presence, leading segments or eventually becoming one of the faces of the channel.

If you’re more interested in the creative and strategic side, you can grow into a larger role shaping video concepts, formats, and the overall direction of the channel.

There is also room to expand into deeper technical ownership, leading more complex builds, and helping us push into new categories.

This isn’t a fixed ladder or a predefined track. The role grows with you, based on what you’re good at and where you want to take it.

Who This Is For

This role is a strong fit for someone who already finds themselves going deep into technical rabbit holes.

You’re probably the kind of person who has built or wants to build a home server.

You enjoy figuring things out, and more importantly, you enjoy explaining what you learned in a way that other people can follow.

How We Work

This is a high-ownership, fast-paced environment.

You’ll do well here if you communicate early when something’s off, ask questions when you’re stuck, and take responsibility for moving your work forward. There’s a lot of support and feedback, but no one is going to manage every step for you.

We don’t expect perfection, but we do expect you to improve quickly.

Perks and Benefits

  • Competitive pay
  • 401k match
  • Holiday schedule and vacation days
  • Growth opportunities as the company scales
  • Get the latest and greatest tech gear
