Job Description

The City of Renton is recruiting to fill a Fleet Manager vacancy. The Fleet Manager is responsible for leading, organizing, and overseeing the Fleet Division within the Public Works Department. This role serves all City departments by developing strong working relationships, understanding operational needs, and planning effectively to improve service delivery and efficiency. The Fleet Manager establishes policies and standards that enhance safety, operations, and customer service, while also developing and managing the division's short- and long-term goals and budgets. This position supervises staff, provides coaching and mentorship to support professional growth, and recognizes development efforts. The Fleet Manager also builds partnerships with internal and external partners and contributes to the City's overall vision, mission, and goals through strategic leadership and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage the Fleet operations for the City.
  • Establish standards and policies for equipment inventory, classification, assignment and control; determine the optimum fleet size and mix, equipment resource requirements, rent/lease options, and allocation by organization; provide periodic reports to business partners.
  • Set vehicle and equipment replacement standards and strategies, acquisition and disposal plans and schedules; prepare standardization and specifications.
  • Establish, implement, direct and supervise the preventive maintenance and repair program for City vehicles and equipment, including shop operations, personnel management, and facilities management.
  • Supervise the fleet parts and supplies management system which includes stock classification, stock selection/levels, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Manage the City fuel and oil purchasing, stock, underground tanks; assure economical use.
  • Coordinate with Risk Management for insurance claims and insurance applications.
  • Partner with other City departments to ensure excellent customer service, vehicle availability, and cost control.
  • Solicit and review customer feedback.
  • Serve as the main user of the fleet management software; implement and develop key performance indicators and utilize data from the systems to inform lifecycle planning, as well as financial and operational decisions.
  • Prepare division budget, implement budgeted work plan items, monitor division expenditures, and plan for long-term needs.
  • Develop and implement the procurement and disposal of vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development to staff.
  • Evaluate employee performance; conduct consistent staff and 1:1 check in meetings with direct reports.
  • Delegate, review and ensure timely completion of duties of assigned staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of department goals that support the City's Mission and Business Plan.
  • Train staff; set specific and measurable standards and goals.
  • Evaluate Fleet operations to improve service, productivity, and efficiency, and resolve work-related complaints and issues that cannot be addressed by staff.
  • Ensure assigned staff are regularly evaluated and recognize staff.
  • Initiate hiring process and coordinate the onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures and capital purchases, (submit periodic budget updates and monitor assigned performance measures).
  • Assist in the development and updating of City policies, ensure proper interpretation and administration of policies by staff.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fleet maintenance and repair management.
  • Or minimum 9 years of relevant education and experience.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful passing of a required background check and national fingerprint-based records check.

The position entails analyzing public and private datasets using quasi-experimental methods, assisting with literature reviews, helping set-up and analyze randomized experiments both online and in the field, and using computational techniques to test predictions of economic theory and to evaluate public policies.   • Assists in setting up experiments in the field and online. Coordinates surveys and the data collection process. Responds to questions from participants.
  • Assist in the set-up and analysis of randomized experiments both online and in the field, and using computational techniques to test predictions of economic theory and to evaluate public policies.
  • Applies professional or research concepts to perform analysis of data and systems pertaining to moderately complex projects, policies, initiatives, / processes, and / or functions:

The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for up to three Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist positions in the Upadhyayula Lab, in the area of Biological Science .



The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists , applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. You will have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to the Bay Area's brightest minds from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.



The positions involve close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing empirical projects in the fields of microscopy and data analysis. The incumbent will work on tera-to-petabyte scale research data and will have the opportunity to gain exposure to and training with a broad set of research topics and methodologies. The roles exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.



The duties of the positions include:

* Operate and maintain the next generation multi-functional adaptive optical microscope(s) and other pre-commercial optical microscopes.

* Develop new imaging and data processing tools

* Assist with data acquisition using advance pre-commercial microscopy systems to image biological samples ranging from cells in culture, such as bacteria, mammalian cells, and organoids to intact organisms, such as zebrafish or mice, etc.

* Be involved in the applications of these tools for biological imaging; collaborate with Postdocs and graduate students on specific projects to test, learn and implement for general and specific use cases.

* Be an integral part of the expert team working together with computational scientists and biologists in experimental design to tackle complex biological questions in a quantitative manner.

* Train and assist students and researchers in the use of software applications

* Train and assist users with their imaging or data processing tasks.

* May supervise undergraduate students.

* General organization and management of software documentation.

Metadata Services supports resource discovery and access by cataloging and physically processing library resources in all formats and languages (except Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) for the University (Main) Library and subject specialty libraries. The department also performs database maintenance to ensure accurate metadata and enhance resource discoverability.



Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Metadata Services, the Metadata Strategies Librarian will help lead efforts to implement new metadata initiatives and maximize the use of technology and emerging standards to foster workflow efficiency and innovation. This position will develop and contribute to policies, standards, and services that enhance the discoverability of the Library's resources. The librarian will also support the Library's participation in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC).



Key responsibilities include:




  • Collaborates on the development and implementation of new metadata policies and workflows, such as linked data, to enhance access and discovery to the Library's collections.
  • Evaluates and implements emerging applications, such as artificial intelligence, and metadata standards with the goal of continually improving metadata quality and fostering workflow efficiency and innovation.
  • Participates in the creation, development, implementation, and revision of department and library policies and procedures.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees metadata remediation and enrichment projects to support current and future discoverability.
  • Provides training to department and library staff.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships across the Library and beyond.
  • Serves as liaison to the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC).

Job Summary

The College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the School of Computing Instruction for the Atlanta campus located in midtown Atlanta, Georgia. The Chair will have the opportunity to build upon the success of the School and the College of Computing. With more students graduating with a Computer Science degree than any other major at Georgia Tech and the Institute's requirement that every student complete at least one programming course, quality instruction on the foundations of computing has never been more important. The School of Computing Instruction (SCI) was created to serve these critical needs within Georgia Tech and beyond. Our award-winning teaching-focused faculty have three core missions:

Platform for Creativity and Innovation. SCI's creative faculty boldly experiment with new ideas and approaches to pedagogy, while continually re-examining proven methods to ensure their approach is effective and practical across a different set of courses and students. Ultimately, we consider SCI a platform for meaningful experimentation and invite collaborations both within and beyond Georgia Tech to further push the envelope in computing education research, practice and outreach.

Scalability of Computing Instruction. SCI's faculty design and serve as primary instructors for the College's array of introductory computer science courses, direct the junior design/capstone program for our undergraduate computing majors, and teach a selection of upper-division and graduate level courses that reflect our faculty's varied interests. At the undergraduate level, SCI faculty teach a third of the College's 1000-4000 level course offerings or half of the nearly 9000 undergraduate computing course seats each semester. Further, we reach tens of thousands of GT graduate students and non-GT students through special initiatives, such as MOOCs and the state of Georgia's dual enrollment high school program.

Transparency and Meaningful Dialogue. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of the College of Computing, the Chair has overall responsibility for the academic program in the School of Computing Instruction specifically focusing on all budgetary, administrative, academic, fiscal, and personal decisions in conjunction with the mission and goals of the College and Georgia Tech. The chair must have a forward-thinking strategic vision, the ability to implement that vision, and the necessary skills to lead a group of faculty and staff. Additionally, the Chair will provide overall leadership for all the school's teaching components at the undergraduate level. The Chair should establish collaborative and interdisciplinary relationships with others Computing School Chairs, with other leaders in the College, as well as all internal and external constituents at Georgia Tech and abroad. They must be able to build successful partnerships with executive leaders at Georgia Tech. Position description

The mission of the Center for Global Public Health (CGPH) is to advance health equity through interdisciplinary research, education, and strategic partnerships. CGPH works to support and administer academic programs that contribute to this mission, addressing pressing global health challenges and, with faculty across campus and at the School of Public Health (SPH), particularly advancing the global public health research agenda.



The CGPH fosters collaboration across sectors and borders, supporting numerous education-focused programs for UCB students that enhance faculty research and other initiatives aimed at translating evidence into action, particularly for under-resourced and historically marginalized populations.



The Academic Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the administration and coordination of CGPH initiatives, working closely with the faculty directors and executive director to manage, plan, and advance global health training efforts, research grant writing, event planning, and communication initiatives. This position is for an individual interested in the intersection of global public health research and education, academic administration, and grants management.



Reporting to the CGPH Faculty Director and Executive Director, the Academic Coordinator's responsibilities include:




  • Overseeing the growth and implementation of global health education/training programs -in particular, the CGPH summer research fellowship program, the UCB Global Public Health and Equity Certificate program, and Program Events/Activities supporting the curriculum/training development of students in these two programs.
  • Grant writing and proposal development: Monitor both solicited and unsolicited calls for research proposals and grant applications from a variety of funding sources (e.g., federal, state, foundations, corporate, HNWI). Coordinate with SPH, CGPH faculty/affiliates, and other UC networks to circulate and respond toopportunities. Support fundraising strategies and activities to cultivate relationships with potential donors and philanthropic initiatives.
  • Collaborating with CGPH faculty to synthesize global public health research through the CGPH website and newsletter. Maintain the CGPH website with current and relevant content, including faculty profiles, event information, research highlights, and program details. Provide logistical and planning support for events (e.g., seminars, meetings, workshops, dinners) that align with CGPH's strategic areas.
  • Duties will include involvement in a range of complex, multifaceted problems that require both administrative acumen and subject matter expertise, with key collaborators on logistical and operational program issues.

Position description

The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoc in the Bouchard Lab, in the area of theoretical neuroscience. The Bouchard lab at UC Berkeley is an interdisciplinary team that focuses on understanding how distributed neural circuits give rise to coordinated behaviors and perceptions. There will be collaboration with the lab members at LBNL. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work at the interface of control theory, information theory, dynamical systems, statistical machine learning, and neural time-series data. The goal is to better understand principles and mechanisms underlying distributed brain network computations through the dual lenses of control theory and information theory. This position will focus on developing and applying theory, models, and methods that provide principled understanding of simultaneous multi-region, high-dimensional neural population dynamics from diverse brain areas.



The position is located at UC Berkeley (UCB), in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and is part of a broader collaborative effort between UCSF, LBNL, UCB, and UC Davis. This Bay Area collaboration combines UCSF/UCD's strong clinical and experimental neuroscience experience with in vivo cortical electrophysiology, UCB's expertise in theoretical neuroscience, statistical learning and data analysis, LBNL's supercomputing and applied mathematics together with electronics and micro-fabrication. Position Summary

Provide on-site assistance to participants of all ages with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities as they integrate into Corvallis Parks and Recreation Department programs. Duties include adapting activities, following inclusion support plans, maintaining a safe environment, and promoting a participant's success in a program. Weekly schedule, assignment and work locations are subject to change. Depending on program assignment, may work under the direction of Recreation Coordinator, Program Site Leader or Recreation Supervisor. Essential Duties

Assists staff by modifying or adapting program activities to improve integration into existing programs.

Applies concepts based on integration of persons with disabilities into an inclusive recreation setting.

Works collaboratively with coordinators, program leaders and other staff to develop strong internal customer service.

Assists in providing behavior support to participants. Makes adaptions to ensure the participant's successful inclusion into the program.

Demonstrates a positive and supportive attitude towards people with disabilities.

Responds to questions from parents and keeps them informed regarding child's progress and achievements.

Facilitates safe participation with various measures including shadowing, removing of potentially hazardous materials, modifying activities to meet participant needs and providing alternative activities.

Works to create a safe environment for staff and participants. Assesses environment for risks and corrects non-safe conditions. Reports all work-related employee or participant incidents/accidents.

Oversees and assists participants in developmentally appropriate activities such as games, songs, learning activities, fitness activities, social interactions, and arts and crafts projects.

Completes necessary documentation associated with inclusion process.

Maintains confidentiality regarding any medical condition for patrons and follows all rules regarding Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Works independently and also collaboratively with other program staff.

Participates fully in a variety of Parks and Recreation activities.

The Inclusion Aide does NOT provide transportation nor most personal care such as toileting, wheelchair transfers, diapering, etc.

Inclusion Aides assigned to Osborn Aquatic Center may assist in the water assisting the instructor and participants with various activities within the swim lesson and other aquatic programs. Provides modifications/accommodations for participants, monitors students' safety, and overall facilitates the inclusion of participants with disabilities in aquatic programs.

Education and Experience
Experience in one or more of the following preferred:

  • Experience working directly with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
