PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To prepare patients for invasive procedure, and assist the physician during a diagnostic catheterization, PTCA, or electrophysiology study.  Rotates through all aspects of the laboratory.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing clinical for electrophysiology procedures including, but not limited to Pacemaker and defibrillator implants, EP studies, ablations, and loops recorders. 

  • Responsible for providing clinical for cardiac interventional procedures including, but not limited to Diagnostic Catheterization, Balloon Angioplasty, Peripheral Vascular Angioplasty, Rotational and Directional atherectomy, Stent Placement, Cardiac Structural Interventions (TAVR, EVAR. Mitral Clip, and Watchman), as well as electro-physiology procedures.

  • Performs duties of a scrub assistant during a procedure, including controlling and manipulating guide wires and diagnostic catheters, and maintaining a sterile field.  

  • Responsible for assisting RN in provision of safe and effective patient care.  

  • Ensures proper safety standards are met for compliance with departmental policies, radiation safety standards, and joint commission regulations.  

  • Operates required imaging equipment using established guidelines and imaging protocols. 

  • Implements daily and weekly QA and maintenance procedures on all specified cardiac Cath equipment according to established policies and procedures. 

  • Monitors the patient throughout the interventional procedure.  

  • Monitors and records intracardiac and intravascular pressures.

  • Anticipates the activities of each existing Electrophysiology and/or Cath lab and keeps the schedule flowing consistently.  

  • Maintains proper customer services with all areas that interact with laboratory.  

  • Keeps a neat and clean work environment.  

  • Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary.  

  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed. 

  • Maintains patient confidentiality  

  • Consistently uses two patient identifiers

  • Completes all mandatory education  

  •  Performs other related duties as required

  • Demonstrates compliance with ChristianaCare and departmental policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review the tie-in book or standard operating procedures to understand daily work assignments. Provide comprehensive oral or written shift handoffs to ensure seamless workflow continuity.

  • Monitor the workload in the area and coordinate task flow to optimize shop utilization. Proactively report issues or request additional support as necessary.

  • Identify, separate, and prepare parts according to work orders and chemical recipes (e.g., alkaline, emulsion, paint strip, sandblast, passivate) prior to racking.

  • Conduct thorough inspections of materials to verify proper cleaning, etching, rinsing, and other processes to ensure optimal adhesion and coating quality. Perform visual checks post-process to confirm uniform coverage.

  • Apply approved masking materials and coatings based on technical drawings or tooling specifications in preparation for plating or painting operations.

  • Determine appropriate racking methods for complex part geometries, ensuring proper contact to prevent burning. Inspect, remove, and report any damaged racks or clips.

  • Rack and unrack parts while verifying correct part numbers and chemical processes as per work orders. Ensure no overloading or air pocket formation occurs during handling.

  • Operate material handling systems, including cranes, hoists, and carts, safely to transport parts and materials through processing areas.

  • Operate and monitor cleaning, Dow Coating, anodizing, dyeing, alodine, and rinsing tanks. Determine correct dip times and maintain appropriate temperatures and solution levels.

  • Perform specific treatments such as sulfuric/chromic acid dips on 75 ST parts formed on Cerro Bend. Apply alodine touch-ups or chromadize as required.

  • Assist in maintaining chemical strength by accurately measuring and adding solutions. Estimate material surface area to prevent generator overloads.

  • Start generators, operate control panels, and utilize overhead cranes to load/unload tanks and transfer processed items between stations.

  • Strip anodizing from racks using caustic soda and nitric acid. Clean tanks, crocks, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

  • Mark, oil, wrap, and route completed parts according to drawings or work orders. Ensure correct parts are matched to work orders and transferred to Quality Assurance (QA) for inspection.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., alodine, acids, solvents) in accordance with safety procedures. Complete all required on-the-job training and maintain necessary certifications.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Production Technician II - Williamson, NY

The Production Technician is responsible for the complete operation and changeover of assigned machines within PhD and all other associated work. This includes safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and assisting in modifying all processing, packaging, and facility equipment in accordance with on-line quality and Best Practice procedures. 

 

Shift / Schedule: This is a union facility so flexibility to work any day or any night shift pattern is required. P ositions are mainly 12 hour positions, with few 8 hour shifts available but not guaranteed; based on seniority.
