  • Utilizes supportive protective (i.e., radiation shielding) and immobilization devices as required for patient safety and comfort.
  • Communicate to the patient the nature of the procedure and answer questions clarifying the procedure for the patient.
  • Demonstrates practical application of age-related factors.
  • Assures patient rights and privacy are maintained.
  • Reports any significant problems related to patient, physicians, procedures, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, or personnel to the Lead Technologist and/or Assistant Director.
  • Properly wear radiation monitoring devices.
  • Demonstrates competency in IV access and IV contrast administration.
  • Cares for patients while they are in Radiology Department by checking IV's, catheters, tubing airways, and patient monitoring equipment.
  • Utilize proper sterile techniques in setting up and performing interventional procedures
  • Performs reconstructions/3-D imaging and post procedure of images per protocol.
  • Maintains continuing education credits for ARRT licensure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The primary responsibility of the Medical Assistant is to provide ancillary clinical support to the clinic providers to ensure patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner.   • Maintain CE’s and BLS according to license and accreditation standards.
  • Retrieve old studies from archive media for comparison to current studies.
  • Participate in at least one area of Quality Improvement program and attend regular meetings.
  • Adhere to State/NRC guidelines for radiation safety and attend annual review.
  • Uses Universal Precautions with all encounters. Knows and follows procedure for handling occurrences involving exposure to blood or other body fluid.
  • Documents all exposure incidents per St Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates policy.
  • Perform mandatory in-service training including but not limited to OSHA and harassment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations. 
  • Work cooperatively with all team members to ensure quality patient care at all times.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with providers, clinical staff, colleagues, managers and others.

What you will need:

  • Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or
  • Board Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or
  • Board Certification in Nuclear Cardiology Technology
  • BCLS certification
  • One year experience in Nuclear Cardiology

Pay Range: $38.31 - $56.40

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Texas Health Action (THA) is a community-informed non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to culturally affirming, quality health services in a safe and supportive environment, with an expertise in serving LGBTQIA+ people and those impacted by HIV. THA's programs include Kind Clinic's & Waterloo Counseling Center.

Texas Health Action is seeking a Medical Assistant (Spanish/English Preferred) to work at our South Austin Kind Clinic to aid with the delivery of patient care during the respective clinic hours of operation. This role will report to the Clinic Administrator.

What You Would Do:
  • Effectively room and prepare patients for clinic visit
  • Obtain and record patient medical histories, including allergies, family, social and surgical history and other information for medical records
  • Acquire vital signs
  • Assist with phlebotomy and lab specimen processing as needed during clinic hours of operation
  • Dispense medication and provide STI treatments to include injections in accordance with clinician directive and existing Standing Delegation Orders (SDOs)
  • Act as a liaison between the laboratory, clinician, and patients
  • Evaluate provider requests for accuracy and completeness, orders, verify labeling/identification, and follow appropriate protocol in handling specimens
  • Thoroughly clean/stock exam rooms
  • Assist clinic staff and Clinic Administrator in monitoring inventory levels and verifies receipt of supplies in accordance with established policies and procedure
  • Utilize and promotes infection control measures and universal precautions to maintain high quality of health and safety during clinic operation
  • Complete annual clinical competencies
  • Maintain a system of confidentiality according to clinic's policies and procedures and per HIPAA guidelines
  • Foster teamwork within the clinic
  • Participate in staff, planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Cross train Front Desk/Lap to assist

Compensation:

Based on job duties and requirements, this position is in salary band 38 and has an hourly rate starting at $21.24. Initial hourly rate will be based on a hired candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
