Job Summary

The Travel Project Engineer supports E. Smith Contractors field and project management teams across multiple job sites, ensuring effective coordination, documentation control, schedule alignment, and on‑site project execution. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as a primary liaison with Architects, Subcontractors, Consultants, Suppliers, Inspectors, staff, and Owner Representatives to resolve issues related to plans, specifications, and construction execution.
  • Oversee and interpret contract drawings, design documents, and subcontractor information, ensuring alignment with project estimates and scope.
  • Schedule and lead subcontractor coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings, and submittal review meetings.

Document Control: Submittals, RFIs & Specifications

  • Manage all Submittals and Shop Drawings, ensuring they conform to contract requirements and are reviewed, approved, and distributed on time.
  • Prepare, process, and track RFIs, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation for field teams.
  • Identify and resolve conflicts between design documents, specifications, and subcontractor scopes.

Budget, Cost Control & Change Management

  • Assist in managing the project budget and tracking expenditures related to assigned scopes.
  • Prepare and negotiate Change Orders, including independent analyses, subcontractor estimate reviews, and securing approvals from owners and architects.
  • Maintain and update logs for Change Orders, labor, safety, quality control, and general conditions.

Field & Travel Responsibilities

  • Travel regularly to project sites to support field teams with coordination, documentation, issue resolution, and schedule updates.
  • Monitor onsite progress, material deliveries, and inventory control to ensure alignment with schedule and project needs.
  • Assist with field problem‑solving and communication of design clarifications.

Project Closeout

  • Lead and coordinate all closeout activities including:
  • Final RFIs
  • Warranty documentation
  • As‑built drawings
  • O&M manuals
  • Attic stock and spare parts
  • Punch list tracking
  • Ensure all closeout deliverables meet contract requirements and are submitted in a timely manner.

Team Leadership & Support

  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns, providing guidance and input for performance reviews.
  • Prepare Scopes of Work for subcontracted trades to ensure clarity and alignment before procurement.

Reporting & Technology

  • Develop and maintain reports such as labor tracking, safety logs, QC logs, CO logs, and progress tracking.
  • Utilize Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and other project tools for documentation and reporting.
  • Support the use of BIM, LEAN, and other modern construction technologies to enhance project execution.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a project engineer or similar construction role.
  • Proficient with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction documentation workflows.
  • Strong understanding of Submittals, RFIs, Scheduling, Inventory Control, and project coordination.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain a daily log (written) of activities on the job site in a specified format or system.
  • Ensure that all reports, records, timesheets, and other documents comply with company policy and procedure.
  • Communicate effectively with the project team regarding ASIs (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions), RFIs (Requests for Information), and Material Submittals.
  • Conflict Resolution:
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution, documenting issues and actions taken.
  • Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors for quality of work or scheduling, following a defined process and outlining consequences.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites simultaneously, including overseeing site operations and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Walk the entire project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning, using specific checklists or reports.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Lactalis American Group, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Production Operator based in Belmont, Wiconsin. Production team members are responsible for working in a variety of cheese making production functions to ensure continuous and efficient line operation. Candidates must be able to work over 40 hours per week (weekends are required). This job is physical and fast-paced.


From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

* Meet efficiency budget levels with maintaining a high quality product

* Must remove and load trays/molds

* Stage bascular with appropriate cookie sheets

* Complete repetition task, ensuring the even spread of curd into appropriate mold

* Pull cheese on to draining room tables from chariot

* Ensure all whey pipes are properly hooked up

* Turn cheese in draining rooms

* Run machines (ex: stacker(s), unmolder, rack washer)

* Place racks on unmolding conveyor

* Weigh cheese

* Complete paperwork as assigned, accurately and legible

* Maintain open line of communication with all line workers and room supervisor

* Perform sanitation duties as assigned

* Keep work area clean and organized

* Report production problems and/or concerns to the on duty supervisor

* Attend departmental meetings and training as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager

* Apply the safety rules and ensure they are implemented and followed

* Apply the Good Manufacturing Practices Standard

* Perform other work duties as assigned

Candidate must have the following attributes/skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy, personal qualities of tact and dependability, possess good manual dexterity, able to push/pull/lift and carry at least 30 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally, be able to stand for entire shift, be able to perform repetitive movements (e.g. twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching).

Experience:

* Previous employment in a food industry setting is preferred

* Stable and dependable work history is required

Knowledge of:

* Basic mathematical skills are required (must be able to calculate averages)

Pay: $23.15/hour or more, dependent upon skills and experience. Weekend pay: 20% (+$4.63/hr). Lactalis offers very competitive pay, benefits and paid time off.

The Cutter is responsible for placing blocks of cheese into an automatic cutter machine. Maintains high quality and cleanliness to ensure the cheeses are not compromised or contaminated at any time during the process. Observes cutting machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of product to plant standards while assuming responsibility for the operational flow of the line.

* Lifts and places blocks of cheese on table lift to be cut.

* Removes any cheese that does not meet product specifications and places in rework bin.

* Observes and maintains cutter operation for even flow of product.

* Interact with associates to maintain efficient process flow.
