Our team of CRNAs at Weill Cornell provide patient-centered anesthesia for all types of surgical procedures, including cardiac, vascular, neurosurgery, pediatrics and obstetrics. Nurse Anesthetists administer general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical, obstetric and diagnostic procedures.

In addition to providing excellent care, our CRNA’s also provide one-on-one anesthesia instruction for Columbia University and Fairfield University’s Nurse Anesthesia Program. In April of 2018, we opened the state-of-the-art David H. Koch Ambulatory Surgery Center that has become the focal point of ambulatory surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In 2020, we expanded the DHK Ambulatory Center to house the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Women’s Hospital. About the Clinician's Workday

The CRNA will provide anesthesia services for surgical procedures during day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM, or 7:00 PM Sunday through Saturday. The clinician will manage anesthesia care for 80-100 surgical cases daily across 20 operating rooms at a Level 2 trauma center. The position requires board certification and prescriptive authority while working under a medical direction care team model. The clinician will utilize Epic EMR for documentation and coordinate with the surgical team during the facility's transition from contracted anesthesia group to hospital-employed staff.

- Stays in room and facilitates the interaction, if this is part of the protocol or as requested.
- Coordinate discussions with our Nurse Practitioner, the unit managers, and nurses, so the Nurse Practitioner can gather information on the residents' status.
- Maintain all HIPPA standards.
- Bring & setup the iPad in the resident’s room, ensuring the connection is adequate, and the resident can be seen by the Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence Focus: Promotes the use of evidence based practice through the appropriate care protocols and procedures.
  • Under the supervision of an RN, assesses patient's status through interview, observation and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes
  • Assists the RN in the development of an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
  • Implements appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes
  • Systematically evaluates and documents patient's progress toward expected outcomes/goals on an ongoing basis throughout the shift as directed by RN.
  • Modifies plan of care based on evaluation as directed by RN.
  • Completes required documentation as appropriate, including patient charting and event reports
  • Demonstrates professional accountability for own practice as evidenced through seeking resources and continuing self-development
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoots when problems arise
