We’re Hiring: Associate Attorney – Criminal Defense (Entry-Level to Early Career)
Location: El Paso, Texas
What You’ll Do:
Support Criminal Defense Cases: Assist senior criminal defense attorneys with misdemeanor and select felony matters in state and federal court.
Gain Courtroom Experience: Appear at low-level hearings, docket calls, status conferences, and routine court proceedings under supervision.
Client Advocacy: Conduct jail visits, communicate with clients, and help prepare cases with care, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Research & Drafting: Perform legal research and assist in drafting motions, pleadings, and other legal filings.
Case Management: Prepare and file documents using state and federal e-filing systems while working closely with paralegals and legal assistants.
Crimmigration Collaboration: Partner with immigration attorneys to ensure criminal case strategy aligns with immigration consequences.
Learn & Grow: Develop foundational criminal defense and courtroom skills through direct mentorship and real-world exposure.
What You Bring:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas (New Mexico Bar a plus)
New attorney to up to 2 years of criminal defense experience
Strong legal research and writing skills
Interest in criminal defense and crimmigration matters
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion
Team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic
Spanish fluency preferred but not required
Admission (or willingness to obtain) to the U.S. District Court – Western District of Texas is a plus
