ChristianaCare is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Pediatric Care Center, located within the Women’s & Children’s building on our Newark Campus.

Our Pediatric Care Center features 14 beds and provides a unique blend of emergency and general pediatric acute care. As a Pediatric Care Center RN, you will care for patients from birth through age 17 with a wide range of conditions, including RSV, sepsis, asthma, fractures, gastrointestinal illnesses, head and body injuries, high fevers, infections, abdominal pain, and more.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BSN required or commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire

• Two years of Acute Care RN experience strongly preferred

• Pediatric, pediatric emergency, emergency department or critical care experience strongly preferred.

• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware

• BLS Certification required; ACLS & PALS certifications preferred.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. Summary:

Accurately evaluates specimen orders and enter clinical data/information into a variety of computer systems (i.E. order entry, patient demographics and/or results). Identifies any missing or invalid data entry information and take the appropriate action to correct. Operates automated and semi-automated equipment according to standard operating procedures.
Effectively communicate supply deficiencies to appropriate personnel, including deficiencies related to specimens, paperwork, database information, and equipment.

Job Requirements:

• New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.

• Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

• *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
