The Department of Earth and Planetary Science at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Project Scientist in the area of Atmospheric Science, specifically Cloud Physics, using Stereophotogrammetry, Remote Sensing, and Computational Modeling to study moist convection, with strong emphasis on instrument development (cameras), data processing (calibration, stereo reconstruction algorithms), scientific leadership, and mentorship in physical sciences.

This position will be in David Romps' group in the Earth and Planetary Science Department of UC Berkeley. The group at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) uses theory, simulation, and observation of clouds and atmospheric dynamics to improve our understanding of Earth's climate.

The successful candidate will co-lead the development of cameras for the stereophotogrammetry of clouds, combining the camera data with the theory of physical processes and related numerical simulations to answer scientific questions about moist convective dynamics.

Assist with supervising and mentoring postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The Assistant Project Scientist will collaborate with David Romps' group to produce publications, as well as contribute to proposals and progress reports. Maintain the code base responsible for camera calibration, feature matching, stereo reconstruction, and volume filling. Develop new stereo-reconstruction algorithms to keep our program at the cutting edge of cloud photogrammetry. Manage the operations of the cameras, including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Manager supports ASME Code Certification programs (Sections I, III, and VIII) by managing and maintaining the company’s quality control system in accordance with ASME and NQA-1 requirements. This role focuses on day-to-day quality control operations in fabrication, welding, inspection, and documentation, while assisting with audit readiness and program development for Code of Authorization renewals and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and improve the company’s Quality Control Manual (QCM) to comply with ASME Section I (Power Boilers), Section III Div1 (Nuclear Facility Components), and Section VIII Div 1(Pressure Vessels), in accordance with NQA-1 quality assurance requirements.
• Develop, document, and maintain the Quality Control Program, ensuring it addresses all applicable ASME Code Section requirements, including organization, document control, material traceability, welding, NDE, calibration, and corrective actions.
• Ensure all principal quality documents are maintained in English and in the language used by plant personnel.
• Supervise daily QC activities including incoming material inspections, welding process verification, in-process and final inspections, and Code documentation control.
• Prepare and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder/Welding Operator Qualification (WPQ) records to meet ASME Section IX and relevant Code of Construction requirements (Sections I, III, VIII).
• Coordinate and/or oversee the qualification of Nondestructive Examination (NDE) personnel and the preparation and approval of NDE procedures that comply with ASME Section V and the applicable Code of Construction.
• Manage subcontracted NDE services and establish in-house capability for basic examination disciplines such as Visual (VT) and Liquid Penetrant (PT).
• Coordinate with the Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) or Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI) for inspections, data review, and sign-off of ASME Code Data Reports
• Ensure full material traceability, weld documentation, and record retention in accordance with Code and regulatory requirements.
• Review fabrication, test, and inspection records for conformance to drawings, specifications, and Code requirements.
• Manage and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs) promptly and effectively.
• Lead and participate in internal quality audits and support external audits or ASME Joint Reviews for Sections I, III, and VIII.
• Support implementation, maintenance, and renewal of the company’s ASME Certificate of Authorization programs associated with these Code Sections.
• Provide Code-compliance training to shop, welding, and inspection personnel on quality procedures and documentation practices.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering — or equivalent technical experience (5+ years) in code fabrication, welding, or inspection.

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent.

Experience:

• 3–7 years of quality control or fabrication experience in a code-regulated manufacturing environment (pressure vessels, boilers, or nuclear components).

• Exposure to ASME Section I, Section III, and Section VIII Div. 1 design and fabrication requirements preferred.

• Experience supporting or maintaining ASME Certificates of Authorization programs (e.g., U, S, N) is desirable.

• Familiarity with Authorized Inspection Agencies (AIA), Code Data Report preparation, and documentation packages.

Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of ASME Section IX – Welding qualifications (WPS/PQR/WPQ).

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an applicant interested in a long-term position in the Cincinnati Technology Center CTC conducting analytical testing to support, production, product stewardship, and technical services growth. A person with 5 -10 years of experience in analytical laboratory testing is preferred. Job assignments are varied; thus, flexibility is essential.

As part of the Technical Services team, a Senior technician must be able to work on multiple services projects or Development test items simultaneously. Duties include but are not limited to running and troubleshooting and monitoring analytical laboratory testing equipment, conducting wet chemistry tests to evaluate automotive products, analyzing test results and reporting results with limited supervision. An interest in automobile and industrial fluid technology and application is highly desirable.

The Analytical Senior Laboratory Technician plays an integral role in technical services of the PFX Group/KOSTUSA. The responsibilities include the setup, testing, and documentation of analytical testing specifically liquid or gas chromatography, based out of the KOSTUSA, CTC Site. The Cincinnati Technology Center CTC Analytical laboratory performs ICP, IC, HPLC, GC, FT-IR and physical property testing on automotive, heavy duty, heat transfer fluid, Fire Resistant Hydraulic fluid (HFC type) and Gas dehydration. The Analytical Technician will be expected to run a variety of analytical tests in a demanding fast-paced environment with the internal Technical Services team as well as external partners to support the services, and solve problems based on the needs of the business.

Job Functions

Job assignments are varied, and flexibility is essential. Basic requirements include.

• Conducts activities following established Corporate and Site Safety procedures and notifies the Supervisor of any unsafe conditions or practices in the area.
• Prepares materials, sets up, and runs instruments and reports analytical test results.
• Operates physical, chemical, optical, and analytical equipment for samples submitted to the CTC Analytical laboratory.
• Responsible for instrument calibrations, verifications, and calibration standards
• Maintains instrumentation calibration reference standards
• Maintains instruments and coordinates annual PM’s, service calls, and service contracts
• Manages collecting and shipping samples for 3rd party analysis
• Records and tabulates data in laboratory notebook in legal form following defined procedures.
• Observes irregularities, unusual behavior, or trends in tests, and interprets causes.
• Performs troubleshooting on instrumentation when needed to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Communicates the results of work to Manager following prescribed procedures.
• Work with sample tracking database, including entering, reporting and logging out samples.
• Prepares periodic written reports.
• Other duties assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and carry out to completion, sample testing in accordance with CTC Management system with limited supervision. Communicates results, conclusions and recommendations in person and in formal written reports.
• Must be able to safely follow detailed Analytical test procedures, making observations, recording test data into spreadsheets and laboratory notebooks, and summarizing data into presentable form.
• Assist in the preparation of departmental documentation including Standard Operating Procedures, job safety analysis procedures and project technical reports. Support/design new and novel analytical test procedures/methods to support services.
• Ensure that samples are reported on time, meeting quality and turnaround targets.
• Answer technical enquiries related to your work accurately and quickly.
• Conduct research to stay up to date with analytical instrument trends and submit ideas for cost saving and new or improved test method opportunities.
• Drive improved standards of safety and housekeeping and Senior initiatives to improve laboratory practices.
• Ensure that all activities within the laboratory are risk assessed and documented.
• Possess good oral communication skills and a flexible approach to work. Conducts self in a professional manner and exerts a positive impact upon the morale and attitude of other team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum education required is Bachelors of Science degree level in chemistry or equivalent science with 5 – 10 years of experience in an analytical laboratory.
• Must be able to follow instructions, work independently and safely in a laboratory environment and work on several projects at the same time.
• Strong written communication skills are required.
• A background in analytical instruments, preferably within the consumer products industry, is a plus.
• Ability to work well with peers is required.
• Ability/desire to grow technically through continued education and learning is essential.

Job Title: Emissions Certification Engineer

Location: Dearborn, MI

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Emissions Certification Engineer to support regulatory certification and compliance activities for gasoline, diesel, and hybrid powertrain programs. The candidate will work closely with calibration, testing, and regulatory teams to ensure vehicles meet EPA and CARB emissions standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead vehicle and engine emissions certification submissions to EPA & CARB
• Prepare and manage certification documentation per CFR requirements
• Coordinate emission testing (FTP-75, US06, HWFET, WLTP, etc.)
• Support powertrain calibration teams to achieve emissions compliance
• Analyze emission test data and resolve compliance gaps
• Support OBD, evaporative emissions, and durability requirements
• Interface with regulatory agencies during audits and reviews

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of U.S. EPA & CARB regulations
• Hands-on experience in automotive emissions certification
• Background in Powertrain / Engine Calibration
• Familiarity with 40 CFR Part 86 & Part 600
• Experience working in OEM environment (Ford preferred)

Preferred:
