Clinical Systems Analyst
Job Description
A prominent Community Hospital in Queens, NY is looking for a Clinical Systems Analyst to add to their team.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize Clinical Systems: Partner with clinicians and IT professionals to maximize the functionality of our electronic health records (EHR) and clinical systems, including Meditech OE, CPOE, and PDOC. Identify opportunities for workflow improvements, develop strategies, and provide user training and ongoing support.
- System Design & Implementation: Develop, customize, and maintain clinical information systems and decision support tools to enhance patient safety and care quality. Create detailed documentation, user manuals, and training materials. Lead system upgrades and new implementations.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Leverage data analytics to extract insights from clinical data. Create reports and dashboards to monitor key performance metrics, identify trends, and support decision-making.
- Interoperability & Data Exchange: Collaborate with external healthcare partners to facilitate secure data sharing and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Participate in interoperability initiatives to support seamless clinical information flow.
- Project & Change Management: Lead and support healthcare IT projects, managing timelines, resources, and risk. Develop strategies to facilitate smooth transitions during system upgrades or implementations, including effective communication and user training.
- Regulatory Compliance & Innovation: Maintain current knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, Meaningful Use) to ensure systems meet compliance standards. Stay updated on emerging trends in clinical informatics and contribute to innovative solutions and research initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Medicine, Health Informatics, or a related field (mandatory).
- Master’s Degree in Health Informatics or a related discipline preferred.
- Certification in Clinical Informatics (e.g., CPHIMS) highly desirable.
- Minimum Level 2 experience with clinical systems integration, with strong familiarity of Meditech (OE, CPOE, PDOC).
- Clinical background preferred but not mandatory; strong clinical understanding required if not licensed (e.g., RN, MD, or related experience).
- Proven experience with EHR systems (Meditech, Athena, etc.) and clinical data analytics tools.
- Solid project management skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives effectively.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry standards, regulations (HIPAA), and interoperability protocols.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment, and translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
