General Duties

The department seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy. Specific duties and expectations will vary depending on the method of instruction including: Synchronous Live Online (Zoom) or Asynchronous Online (Fixed Date).




  • For synchronous instruction (live online courses), duties include but are not limited to: syllabus development; assignment development; lesson planning for class meetings; preparing and submitting required texts and course materials; reviewing and updating Canvas course site; and delivering lectures, presentations, and learning activities for all required hours of instruction.
  • For asynchronous instruction (fixed date online courses), duties include but are not limited to: reviewing the syllabus and pre-populated online course content; learning and utilizing Canvas classroom management tools; and requesting any training needs from the Program Director or Department Director.
  • For all instruction (regardless of course format) duties include but are not limited to: completing required trainings as mandated by the UC Presidential policies; responding to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner; grading student assignments and posting final student grades to the instructor portal in a timely manner; utilizing University-approved course support platforms including the Canvas Learning Management System, Zoom, Instructor Portal, Google Workspace, etc.; reviewing and following University and departmental policies, logistics, and other guidelines as published on the departmental Instructional Resource Site; and responding to other requests from the Program Director or Department Director in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent international degree required.


Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

  • 3 or more years of professional industry work experience since degree, or 3 or more years of teaching experience since degree.

  • U.S.A. Residency and U.S.A. Work Authorization: All work must be performed in the United States, whether in person or online. For applicants who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a valid US work authorization is required for the duration of employment. General Duties

Summary/objective

The Spanish Instructor provides instructional support to participants enrolled in the TRIO Upward Bound Classic Program Summer Academic Institute at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). Upward Bound is a federally funded college preparatory program designed to increase the high school graduation and postsecondary enrollment rates of first-generation college students and students from limited-income backgrounds.


The Spanish Instructor delivers engaging instruction in Spanish language fundamentals including speaking, reading, writing, and cultural literacy, while reinforcing academic preparedness necessary for college success. Instruction is provided to high school students participating in the two-month summer residential/academic program, which simulates a college learning environment.


The instructor contributes to the academic enrichment and college readiness mission of Upward Bound by supporting program participants in developing language skills, critical thinking abilities, and cross-cultural awareness.


Grant-Funded Position Statement

This position is 100% funded through the federally sponsored TRIO Upward Bound Classic Program administered by the U.S. Department of Education.


Employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of grant funding and programmatic needs. The appointment is temporary and limited to the Upward Bound Summer Academic Program, typically conducted during the summer session.

The Lineworker Instructor will conduct a wide range of high voltage, electric power line technician training courses as well as general and technical safety classes for the Electrical Power Program. The Role:

The Behavioral Health Trainer leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of onboarding and clinical training programs for a community-based behavioral health agency. This role ensures that newly hired and existing staff—particularly direct care, case management, and clinical employees—are well-prepared to deliver safe, effective, and person-centered services that meet Maine regulatory, licensing, and Medicaid requirements. Provide training to promote staff competency and effective EMR documentation.

Serving as a subject matter expert in adult learning and clinical workforce development, the Behavioral Health Trainer partners closely with clinical leadership, quality, compliance, and operations teams to strengthen workforce readiness, support regulatory compliance, and promote consistent, high-quality care across programs.

New Hire Orientation & Onboarding

  • Design, facilitate, and continuously enhance a comprehensive new-hire orientation program for clinical and direct care staff.
  • Ensure orientation content aligns with Maine DHHS, Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), Medicaid, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Provide training on agency mission, values, ethical standards, client rights, mandated reporting, confidentiality (HIPAA), safety expectations, effective EMR usage and documentation, and trauma-informed care.
  • Coordinate onboarding schedules and track training completion across multiple programs and service lines.


Clinical Training & Workforce Development

  • Develop and deliver ongoing clinical and operational training for roles including BHPs, MHRT/Cs, case managers, clinicians, supervisors, and program leadership.
  • Facilitate training on evidence-based practices, behavioral interventions, crisis response, de-escalation, documentation standards, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify training needs based on quality outcomes, audit findings, incident trends, and regulatory updates.
  • Support staff in meeting credentialing, certification, supervision, and continuing education requirements.


Compliance, Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure all training curricula, materials, and delivery methods meet Maine licensing and accreditation standards and are audit-ready.

  • Support retraining and corrective action initiatives following incidents, investigations, or quality reviews.
