Job Description

Primary Purpose: The Maintenance Technician plays a critical, hands-on role in supporting plant uptime and performance. This position is 100% floor-based, directly responding to equipment breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting with project-related tasks. A core responsibility of this role is to troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical and PLC based control system issues in real time to minimize downtime and support efficient operations. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Real-Time Equipment Support & Troubleshooting

  • Immediately respond to breakdowns and perform on-the-spot repairs to restore production.

  • Support line changeovers and production start-ups.

PLC and Electrical Control Support

  • Diagnose and repair PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and control-related issues.
  • Troubleshoot systems using tools such as Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and control panel builds.
  • Run conduit, pull wire, and terminate Ethernet and communication cabling.

Preventive Maintenance and Continuous Improvement

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance with focus on reliability and efficiency.
  • Take ownership of specific PM areas and proactively improve them.
  • Accurately document all maintenance activities in the CMMS.
  • Identify recurring issues and propose long-term corrective actions.

Project and Fabrication Work

  • Assist in machinery installation and facility improvement projects.
  • Perform light fabrication and welding for safety and efficiency-related improvements.

Safety & Communication

  • Always follow safety protocols and use proper PPE.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Installation Manager the HVAC/R Installation Technician is responsible for install ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and equipment; inspect and perform tests on systems and equipment at start-up to assure proper functioning. This position has constant contact with the Project Managers and Sales Engineers to receive installation detail and communicate project requirements and results. This position has frequent contact with customers, requiring reasonable tact and strong verbal/written communication skills.

Customer Service

Work Condition and Paperwork

  • Obtain, record on work ticket and communicate to vendor an appropriate purchase order number when purchasing job-related parts and supplies.


Essential Functions

  • This is a physically demanding job involving heavy physical labor, often in adverse conditions and uncomfortable positions.
  • Loads van with equipment and tools and drives van to and from job sites.
  • Moves equipment (such as furnaces, compressors, blowers, heat pumps, heat exchangers, duct work, pipes and cables, controls, etc.), supplies and tools (hand and power) to designated areas of job sites.

JOB SUMMARY


Master Technology Group (MTG) specializes in designing, installing, and servicing low-voltage commercial property technologies across local and national markets.


The Integrated Security Systems Technician (Traveling) provides customer-focused, workplace technology support to clients, field staff, installation partners, and internal team members. While most support work is performed remotely, occasional on-site assistance may be required locally and nationally.


Supported systems are primarily security-related, including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and EAS. Additional support may encompass network programming, fire alarm systems, data infrastructure, AV, and other low-voltage disciplines.


An MTG Integrated Security Systems Technician must deliver exceptional customer service and cultivate strong professional relationships with clients, vendors, Local Service Partners (LSPs), and colleagues. This role requires technical proficiency, extensive knowledge of low-voltage systems, excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, and strong verbal and written communication abilities.


Candidates must reside in the Twin Cities area and are expected to perform most of their work from our Eden Prairie, MN office. Periodic job site responsibilities may be required locally and nationally, with travel up to 60% supporting client sites, installations, and service operations.


To assist with critical service issues, the role includes on-call duties as part of daily responsibilities, requiring availability after hours on weekdays. Weekend on-call shifts will be rotated on a scheduled basis to ensure support during urgent weekend needs.


This position reports to the Manager of Technical Services.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
