Job Summary:

The metal fabrication and welding tech is responsible for executing a variety of mechanical fabrication efforts at an exceptional level, while collaborating in an integrated team environment with fellow support technicians, engineers, and internal and external engineering customers.

Primary responsibilities include welding and fabricating premium quality parts and assemblies from metal. Report to the Mechanical Prototyping and Fabrication Section Lead within the Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication department (the Bike Shop) 
 
Responsibilities to Anticipate:  

  • Metal fabrication of critical prototype, aerospace parts and test assemblies using various types of metal fabrication tools.

  • Use of general machine shop tools and support equipment including the use of typical dimensional measuring tools

  • Work with basic sketches and, underdeveloped drawing packages as well as model renderings

  • Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including part/machine setup, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing their workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating work when required

  • Work in a multi-program-controlled area.
     
     
    The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance  
     
     
    Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience welding MIG, and TIG.

  • A minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience with press breaks, rollers, sheet metal forming tools.

  • Six (6) or more years of interpreting mechanical blueprints / technical drawings with the ability to fabricate the requested parts.

  • Ability to inspect fabricated parts using standard precision measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.
     
     
    Qualifications We Value:

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training such as: machining/fabrication technical education or apprenticeship).

  • Basic experience in the development and manipulation of computer-generated 3D models in Creo, or similar CAD system

Uncommon High School Science teachers work collaboratively across the network to prepare all students with the tools and knowledge to critically engage in the field of science and develop them into self-directed learners. At the heart of all Science courses is inquiry-based learning, including a robust focus on student discourse and the science practices. The Middle School Literacy Specialist will be a visionary for students who are at-risk for academic underperformance due to reading and writing challenges. This person will support students to succeed in the rigorous academic programs offered at Rochester Prep.  This role will focus on leading and delivering literacy interventions, that aim to close gaps in reading and writing, to students who are considered at-risk or students with specific learning disabilities.  The Literacy Specialists will be instrumental in giving students access to grade level curriculum through literacy equity.

Uncommon High School English Language Arts (ELA) teachers are passionate about literature and building an engaging, rigorous classroom culture focusing on helping all students prepare for college. Our teachers become experts in their course content, and have a keen sense of how to motivate and inspire high school students. At the heart of our English classes is an emphasis on reading and  student-led discourse. Responsibilities

1.     Instruction

  • You'll teach from a robust literature curriculum shared across our high schools that prioritizes inclusive texts, emphasizes diversity, and prepares students for Advanced Placement (AP), SAT and collegiate level coursework. 
  • You'll conduct a deep exploration of daily content in order to guide students to analyze books by authors like James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Shakespeare, and Yaa Gyasi; books that ignite a passion for literature, sharpen a critical eye for examining the world, and deepen students’ intellectual identity. 
  • You’ll develop students’ independent and collaborative reading, writing, and discussion skills. 
  • You'll facilitate student-led discourse, teaching students to use evidence to make sophisticated claims, and to synthesize and evaluate arguments and rhetoric.
  • You’ll analyze student comprehension and writing regularly and determine how to adapt and write your own lessons to maximize student learning.

Uncommon Middle School Math teachers work in grade level teams to help students grow towards being self-guided learners.
