About the School of History and Sociology at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of History and Sociology (HSOC) is a uniquely interdisciplinary unit with an intellectual culture of cross-pollination between sociological and historical scholarship, as well as work in science and technology studies. The School is united around a vision of scholarship and teaching that elucidates processes of local, national, and global change, past and present. This includes promoting a broader understanding of how racial, gender, and class inequalities intersect, as well as how technology, science, environment, and culture are intertwined. HSOC offers a Bachelor of Science degree in History, Technology, and Society and several joint undergraduate minors including Health, Medicine, and Society; Science, Technology, and Society; and Social Justice. At the graduate level, HSOC offers a master's degree in History and Sociology, and a doctoral degree in the History and Sociology of Technology and Science. Job Summary

The School of History and Sociology ( ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor in Sociology of Science, Technology, or Medicine, with a focus on Gender, Race, and/or Ethnicity. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students, particularly in the School's graduate program in the History and Sociology of Technology and Science, as well as its undergraduate major and minors, especially Women, Science, and Technology.

Job Summary

The Haider Lab in the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Georgia Tech & Emory University seeks a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral fellow to undertake NIH funded projects examining synaptic and network mechanisms supporting sensory perception and visual attention.

The projects offer significant opportunity to learn cutting-edge research techniques in vivo with transgenic mice performing quantitative visual behavioral tasks.



Responsibilities

The specific job duties undertaken include the following: 1) neural population recording with high-density silicon electrodes (Neuropixels), 2) optogenetic circuit manipulation, 3) training transgenic mice on quantitative visual spatial detection behaviors 4) high dimensional neural data signal processing and analysis.



Required Qualifications

Candidates should have completed a PhD in Bio-Engineering or related area



Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • The ideal candidate has expertise in patch clamp / multi-electrode electrophysiology in vitro or in vivo, experience with neural or behavioral data analysis related to visual neuroscience, and quantitative skill in data acquisition and analysis (preferably with MATLAB). Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an inquisitive mindset, and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary team.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Significant experience in electrophysiology, visual neuroscience, neural data analysis.
  • Proven ability to execute projects using the above skillsets in high-quality publications.
  • Knowledge of optogenetics, optical imaging.
  • Excellent skills in MATLAB (or similar) programming, animal experimental procedures necessary for in vivo electrophysiology studies, neural signal processing.
  • Experience in animal behavior/human visual psychophysics.

The Opportunity

The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning faculty positions in the Department of Nursing Systems at the rank instructor or lecturer. The selected candidates will primarily teach in the online RN-BSN program, and other online courses in our graduate programs, as qualified. The positions will be located on the UCF Academic Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona and are expected to start Fall 2026. The appropriate rank (i.e. instructor, associate instructor, senior instructor, lecturer, associate lecturer, or senior lecturer) will be determined based upon the selected candidates' credentials and prior experience.

The selected candidates will work collaboratively with colleagues, remain actively involved in professional organizations, and actively participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.

The Kwong lab in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Laboratory for Synthetic Immunity focused on PAR T cell design.

The Laboratory for Synthetic Immunity (LSI) is an interdisciplinary research group in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech & Emory School of Medicine. Founded in 2014 by Director Dr. Gabe Kwong, the mission of LSI is to pioneer the next wave of immunotherapies and diagnostics to intercept diseases at an early stage and develop treatments that drive deep responses to meaningfully improve patient outcomes.

We are currently seeking exceptional individuals to join our research group as a Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will be a motivated and creative individual that will pioneer new categories of immune biosensors that leverage design principles from synthetic biology and cell engineering for early cancer detection. They will take a lead role in experimental design, execution of experiments, and interpretation of results to achieve the major objectives of the project.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the director and lab members in experimental design, bench and animal studies with a focus in PAR T Cell design:

  • Play a lead role in regular internal project meetings and data reviews.
  • Provide research expertise to aid lab trainees including, graduate students, and undergraduates
  • Work with the lab director and university officials in grant administration, project budgets, and scientific reporting.
  • Play a lead role in drafting manuscripts and grant applications


Required Qualifications

PhD in Biomedical Engineering or related field



Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Immunology, or related fields with deep expertise in cancer immunology and/or biosensors.
  • Expertise in the design and testing of sense-and-respond biocircuits for cancer therapy or diagnostics.
  • Proficiency in cell and molecular biology techniques including sterile technique, cell culture, chromatography, electrophoresis, and flow cytometry.
  • Proficiency in animal studies including live animal imaging, animal handling and drug administration, necropsy and cell isolation.
  • Skilled in molecular cloning, lentivirus production, T cell transduction, protein production and purification.
  • Experience with T cell isolation, tumor inoculation; isolation, and dissociation of mouse tumor xenografts.
  • Experience with qPCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation, NGS data analysis is plus.
  • Proficiency with statistical software like SPSS and/or GraphPad Prism.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, time-management, and collaboration skills are required.
  • Demonstrated desire to mentor graduate and/or undergraduate students.

Position description

The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for two Project Scientist at the Assistant, Associate, or full rank. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank to commensurate with prior experience. The position will report to Professor Gokul Upadhyayula, with Professor Eric Betzig serving as an additional academic mentor. The project scientist will make significant and creative contributions in the area of molecular and cellular microscopy research.



The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world-leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. Members of the ABC have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to collaborators from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.



The purpose of this project is to develop a foundation AI model capable of extracting biological insights from 4D (x,y,z,time) datasets of subcellular dynamics within physiological contexts and across scales. Incumbent will advance imaging to generate petabytes of targeted and high quality datasets necessary to prototype and build this model. The Assistant/Associate/Full Project Scientists will help develop and execute the research program focused around ABC's overarching goal of moving cell biology away from the coverslip and into physiological systems. These positions will work within a dedicated team to develop and refine the microscopy techniques. This position will manage projects and provide regular progress reports to PIs and collaborators.



The incumbent will spend 90% of their time on ABC research goals and managing and maintaining equipment in the lab and 10% of their time training/supervising collaborators, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on MOSAIC/iAOLLSM capabilities.



Key responsibilities:

*Make significant and creative contributions to designing, building, and testing of a new high throughput adaptive optical inverted lattice light-sheet microscope (iAO-LLSM). This instrument aims to achieve a 10-fold increase in data acquisition throughput while maintaining the high-quality optical performance demonstrated in our previous work.

*Use, maintain, and oversee the operations of the two next-generation multimodal optical scopes with adaptive imaging correction (MOSAIC) microscopes at the ABC.

*Actively participate in handling/mounting biological samples on advanced microscopes and collect 4/5D datasets.

*Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team of AI scientists, data engineers, instrumentation scientists and biologists and generate high resolution microscopy data using novel transparent developing organism reagents necessary to reach the goal of prototyping and training a 4D foundation model.

*Actively participate in national and international collaborations, presentation of research findings at scientific conferences, and publication of results in leading peer-reviewed journals.

*The incumbent will actively participate in and occasionally lead efforts to develop new projects.

*Experience with data and image processing, evaluating image quality, visualizing and analyzing image data.

*Experience making figures and movies with microscopy data for publishing articles.

*Experience collaborating with labs in a wide variety of areas.

*Experience executing large imaging projects (tens of terabytes to multi petabyte-scale)

*Experience leading technicians

*Ability to review research proposals and ideas, evaluate research capabilities, and make recommendations.

The Opportunity

As a national and world leader in space, aerospace, and hypersonics, the University of Central Florida (UCF) has established a center of excellence on this topic and is working to strengthen its research and education mission in this area.

As a part of this broad, university-wide strategic plan, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applicants for multiple 9-month, full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-earning), or associate professor (tenured). Candidates with a strong background in hypersonics and space systems are highly encouraged to apply. Technical fields of interest include, but are not limited to:

(1) Additive and Advanced Manufacturing for Hypersonics and Space,

In response to this unique locational opportunity, The Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER) was founded to focus on student training and research on turbomachinery and associated energy systems for application in power generation, aviation, and space propulsion. The motivation of the center is Speed and Space with the goal of achieving ultra-high-speed flight through our atmosphere, and efficient planetary entry and exit, making space exploration and intercontinental travel as routine as intercity travel is today. Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Applied Mathematics at the time of appointment. Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a sustained record of external research funding in hypersonics and space, as well as experience leading large, multidisciplinary proposal teams. Evidence of research productivity through publications in reputable, peer-reviewed venues is expected. Additional qualifications include experience mentoring students, a history of collaborative research, and strong proficiency in written and oral English communication. Candidates must also present a clearly articulated and focused research plan that supports collaborative and transformative work in hypersonics and space.

Position Duties

This position is responsible for special cleaning projects and filling in for Environmental Services Technicians. Clean all types of floor surfaces and operate machines to burnish or scrub floors and extract carpets. Clean buildings, furniture and all surfaces.

Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and bathroom areas and replenish supplies. Wash furnishings, walls, windows, tile, fixtures, equipment and floors. Vacuum in all buildings and dust and polish specified areas and/or furnishings. Clean chalkboards, erasers and chalk trays and replenish chalk. Clean and dust bulletin cases, pictures, trophy cases, fixtures, door frames and related furnishings. Clean elevator door tracks. Perform all cleaning tasks in a timely and complete manner. Collect and remove trash and recyclables. Clean all types of flooring surfaces, including stairs. Use an auto scrubber in certain buildings to remove soil and spills from non-carpeted floors.

Report malfunctions, unsafe conditions, repairs and damages of equipment, fixtures and buildings to supervisor. Pick up, distribute and monitor and secure supplies and equipment.

Maintain open and responsive relationships with the college community, including guests, students and other employees.

Fill in for other technicians and handle special projects.

Clean and refill floor drains. Clean interior and exterior of laundry washers and dryers.

Shampoo carpets or use carpet stain remover and gum remover to remove carpet stains and gummy soil. Operate burnish or spray buff equipment to finish floors. Operate floor care equipment including floor scrubbers and carpet extractors

Perform setup for special and athletic events.

Sweep or shovel snow from buildings, entrances and steps.

High school diploma, GED, and/or vocational training required. 1- 3 years relevant work experience.
