ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepare and organize patient charts with necessary information. File dictations and ensure completion of all required documentation. Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care   

Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; provide pre- and post-surgery information. Assist with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals. 

Coordinate physician schedules and ensure insurance pre-certifications. Schedule and manage patient follow-ups, ensuring continuity of care. 

Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to organizational standards and ethical guidelines. 

Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans. 

Promote evidence-based resources to optimize nursing practice and patient care. 

Proactively serves as a patient advocate by utilizing courteous and professional etiquette at all times reflecting positive tone and speaking distinctly with poise, tact and assurance. Assures accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel. 

Assists in training, orienting, and supporting new colleagues. Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs. 

Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). 

Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides professional emergency nursing care for acutely ill and injured patients incorporating the nursing process of all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.

• One year of RN experience preferred OR new graduate if the candidate has completed senior nursing preceptorship at Mercy Emergency or previous experience as an emergency department technician or experience in a pre-hospital environment.

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within 3 months of hire.

• Experience with Excel, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Word.
• Proven experience with: Resource-loaded schedules, Contractor baseline schedules, Time impact analysis, Earned value management reporting
• Experience converting schedules between tools (e.g., Primavera P6, P3, Microsoft Project).
• Strong knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule analysis.
• Experience preparing maintenance or outage schedules (PM/CM) within nuclear or industrial environments.
• High School Diploma required.

Preferred Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Associate degree or technical program completion in: Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, Nuclear Operations
• Experience working in nuclear operations, power generation, or heavy construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
• Working knowledge of project work scope sequencing and construction execution.

BrightStar Care of Columbus is seeking an experienced Private Duty Scheduling Coordinator to join our dedicated home care team. This role is essential in ensuring that our clients receive reliable, compassionate care by coordinating caregiver schedules and maintaining strong communication with families and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate caregiver schedules for private duty home care clients.
• Communicate with families in a caring, supportive, and empathetic manner.
• Ensure client care needs are matched with the appropriate caregivers.
• Manage schedule changes, call-offs, and urgent staffing needs.
• Maintain accurate scheduling documentation and records.
• Work collaboratively with office staff, nurses, and leadership to ensure exceptional client care.

Qualifications

• Required:
• Previous experience scheduling in private duty home care
• Knowledge of home care services strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working with scheduling systems and office technology
