ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


  • Design, fine-tune, and optimize large language models (LLMs) and multimodal models for healthcare-specific NLP tasks, such as information extraction, classification, and summarization from clinical documents (e.g., medical charts, patient files, scanned forms).
  • Develop and improve document understanding pipelines, including fine-tuning OCR / layout-aware models (especially in cloud environments like Azure AI, Azure Foundry) to handle real-world variability in medical forms, handwriting, and scanned PDFs.
  • Build and iterate on end-to-end ML solutions that transform unstructured healthcare data into structured, actionable insights
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, product managers, data annotators, and engineers to define problems, curate/annotate datasets, evaluate model performance against clinical and business metrics, and iterate quickly.
  • Deploy models into production environments (cloud-based inference, batch processing, or API endpoints) with attention to latency, cost, scalability, and healthcare compliance considerations (HIPAA, data privacy).
  • Stay current with advancements in LLMs, vision-language models, efficient fine-tuning techniques (LoRA/QLoRA, PEFT), RAG, multimodal AI, and domain-specific healthcare AI research.
  • Contribute to a culture of rapid prototyping, rigorous evaluation, and continuous improvement in a dynamic project landscape where priorities can shift based on new opportunities or stakeholder needs.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)

This is not a single-language codebase. The role requires the ability to make informed decisions on TypeScript design patterns, Python FastAPI architecture, AWS security posture, and Terraform state management in context with one another.


The Platform Challenge

The client is fundamentally a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for dynamic application generation. This differs from building a traditional SaaS product. Rather than building one application, you're building infrastructure that enables users to build their own applications.

What this means architecturally:

  • Dynamic Content Generation at Scale: Unlike traditional development where code is fixed, AppGen generates JSON form schemas, validation rules, and UI layouts on demand. The FormBuilder component doesn't know what fields will exist until runtime. The layout engine renders user-designed screens from configuration, not hardcoded templates.
  • Multi-Tenant Isolation & Data Segregation: Each user gets their own generated app, potentially deployed to their own AWS environment. The architecture must account for data isolation, namespace management, and cross-tenant security considerations.
  • User-Defined Data Structures: Traditional applications are built with predetermined database schemas. AppGen works differently—form structures, field types, and validation rules emerge from user conversations with Claude. This brings engineering challenges: How do you safely execute validation logic that users define? When users modify existing forms that have thousands of submissions, how do you maintain backward compatibility? How do you version schemas?
  • Content Rendering, Not Code Generation: Unlike traditional no-code platforms where users drag-and-drop to build, AppGen uses AI instead. Users chat with Claude, Claude generates a form schema, and your platform renders that schema reliably across diverse field types, validation patterns, and workflows. The system renders configurations for immediate use, rather than generating code for later deployment.

Experience that directly transfers:

  • You've contributed to or led development of low-code/no-code platforms (visual builders, workflow engines, configuration-driven systems)
  • You've worked on SaaS platforms with multi-tenant architecture and understand isolation strategies, rate limiting, and per-customer customization

  • Guide architecture discussions: Help senior developers think through design trade-offs. Should we use NgRx or Angular signals for this feature? When does a new Lambda function become worthwhile given cold-start costs?
  • Identify and address system-wide bottlenecks: Work across layers to improve performance. Explore Lambda cold-start optimization, RDS query efficiency, and DynamoDB access patterns.
  • Establish patterns and guide consistency: Define coding conventions that work across Python, TypeScript, and Terraform. Help new team members understand the reasoning behind architectural choices.
  • What this looks like in practice: You're able to justify architectural decisions with technical reasoning. When someone questions an approach, you can explain the trade-offs you considered. You can write code in multiple languages to validate an approach if needed.

2. Code Review & Technical Guidance (30%)

  • Full-stack PR reviews: Review Python FastAPI endpoints and Angular components with equal depth, understanding how they interact.
  • Deep technical review: Catch issues thoughtful code review can surface:
  • RxJS Observable lifecycle and potential memory patterns in Angular

The Boston Consulting Group’s AI Science Institute (AISI) is launching a postdoctoral fellowship program designed to empower the next generation of applied science leaders. This elite, industry-adjacent program offers PhDs and early-career scientists the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most complex and high-impact scientific problems using cutting-edge AI, in collaboration with top-tier partners across aerospace, healthcare, energy, and materials science. 

 

Fellows will operate at the intersection of foundational research, real-world deployment, and strategic impact, helping shape breakthrough workstreams with AISI partners. 

 

Unlike traditional academic or big-tech postdocs, AISI fellows work on problems where the science, the data, and the deployment context are all partially undefined. Fellows are expected not only to advance models or methods, but to shape problem formulation, data strategy, and downstream impact alongside senior scientists, engineers, and industry leaders. 



What You'll Bring

  • Lead or contribute to multi-disciplinary research initiatives that apply machine learning, simulation, optimization, or GenAI to real-world scientific domains.

A postdoctoral fellowship is available at the Stanford University School of Medicine focused on implementing machine learning on population-scale clinical and biological data to characterize biological aging, resilience, and rejuvenation.

Relevant background:

  • MD or PhD, with research experience building and/or applying machine learning models during graduate studies, industry, or postdoctoral work.
  • Excellent publication record.
  • Interest in medicine and biology.
  • Familiarity with modern AI/ML platforms and libraries (e.g., PyTorch and/or TensorFlow), traditional machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn), and statistical analysis in Python.


Preferred, but not required:

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) data and cohort/outcome definition using EHRs.
  • Experience in medicine and/or biology, particularly in aging-related research and omics-based analyses.
  • Broad experience across diverse AI/ML concepts, including causal inference.
  • Publications in leading AI/ML, biology, or medicine conferences and journals.

About the Role: In This Role, You Will



  • Research and develop Deep learning-based systems to solve problems in In-vehicle domains like Speech, UI, and multimodality-based ADAS systems.

Qualifications:

  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning Acumen: You bring strong knowledge of key concepts and have practical experience of working with popular frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, NEMO, TAO, TensorRT, CUDA, and vLLM, positioning you at the forefront of AI innovation.
  • You have detailed hands-on experience of optimizing state of the art models for edge devices considering latencies, memory bandwidth, and CPU vs NPU tradeoffs.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded software, RTOS, and microcontrollers.
  • Hands-on experience with camera/lidar perception model implementation, training, and deployment on the edge.

Pay range and compensation package: Base Salary range: $180,000- $300,000. Employee may be eligible for performance bonus, short and long term incentive programs. Actual total compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
