Easton Block & Supply of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a motivated individual to help operate their block plant! The Concrete Block Machine Operator operates a batching system that feeds aggregates, cement, and water mixed together creating the ideal mix design to form a strong dependable block. Once the material is mixed, it is the operators job to set machine parameters that will feed and form the concrete block with high levels of vibration. After a minimum of 16 hours the block is cured enough that it can be handled and formed to be shipped at a later date. The operator is responsible for operator the dry side of the machine that creates a safe practical pattern to be shipped. All of this while monitoring our quality standards set by the industry and Easton Block specifications. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.

Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
Understands the proper mixing sequence of Grey Block and applies that to the batching system to create the ideal mix design.
Operates the wetside of the Block Machine with the set parameters and monitors moisture, dimensions, color and imperfections of the block
Operates the dryside of the Block Machine with set cube patterns for ideal shipping
Dislodges block jams that cause machine downtime by hand or equipment designed to help the operator in tight spaces.
Removes materials or products from discharge end of conveyor that are deemed scrap and disposes of them in the proper waste container
Inspects materials or products for damage or for conformity to specifications
Uses hoist to assist in mold changes of different products
Stencils, tags, stamps, or writes identifying information on packaged products
Records production.
Keeps work area clean and orderly

Position description
The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Professional Researcher at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank to commensurate with prior experience. The position will report to Professor Gokul Upadhyayula, with Professor Eric Betzig serving as an additional academic mentor. The researcher will conduct independent research at a level comparable to the Professor series.
The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world-leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. Members of the ABC have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to collaborators from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.
This position will focus on advanced, independent research leading the ABC computational team to develop vision-transformer-based foundation machine learning models. The Researcher will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of optical physicists, engineers, and computational imaging researchers to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a generative AI model for segmenting and querying complex 4D high-resolution data of zebrafish development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing biological imaging and AI-driven data analysis at the intersection of biology and computational science.
As this project grows, the individual will be expected to expand their leadership and adapt to the evolving scope of the research. The role will begin with leading efforts to supervise data collection and management, model development, and collaborating with leadership across the center. The researcher will build and manage a team of data scientists, and computational biologists to test AI-driven imaging models and will facilitate scientific collaborations with local, domestic, and international researchers. This position will take on a growing role and contribute to a groundbreaking initiative in biological imaging.
Key Responsibilities:
*Conduct and design independent research and lead a team of data scientists and software engineers to enable the development of state-of-the-art AI models for light sheet microscopy data.
*Collaborate with experts in optical physics, engineering, and computational imaging to support a foundational AI model for high-resolution developmental biology data.
*Conduct and lead experimental design, data acquisition, and data analysis pipelines to ensure optimal data quality.
*Facilitate and maintain scientific collaborations with local, domestic, and international researchers as the project expands.
*Publish research findings in high-impact journals and presenting at scientific conferences.
*Supervise and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff scientists, and academic research titles involved in machine learning and biological data analysis.
*Lead the development of new AI models and data processing tools for datasets generated on multicellular tissues, organoids, transparent embryos.
*Oversee the design and development of new machine learning tools for petabyte-scale light sheet datasets that are typically 4D or 5D (x,y,z,t,chemistry).
*Advise on applications of these tools for biological imaging; collaborate with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and academic research titles on specific projects to test, learn and implement for general and specific use cases.
*Bring cross disciplinary expertise to solve problems at the intersection between life science, computer vision, and state-of-the-art AI methods.
*Identify and study scaling laws for machine learning models on large-scale 5D light sheet datasets.
*Organize and plan on the design and development of new AI techniques to further ABC's mission.

Responsibilities
- Perform set-up for complex/advanced/non-routine jobs independently
- Use measuring equipment effectively such as micrometers and calipers
- Work from written procedures and work routers
- Dismantle jigs, tools, and special fixtures
- Make tooling as necessary
- Provides training to co-workers on the operation of CNC machines and inspection methods and tools.
- Maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances
- Handle raw material and hazardous waste safely and in an environmentally responsible manner
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent (will consider candidates with considerable experience in lieu of education requirement)
- 5+ years of experience in performing adjustments and offsets in CNC Machining for Mills and Lathes (Required)
- Effective verbal/written communications skills and organizational skills

Responsibilities
As a CNC Machine Specialist, you’ll ensure the precise and efficient operation of CNC equipment while leading production activities, resolving complex machining issues, and mentoring junior machinists.
- Operate CNC machines with precision and efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Lead production efforts and provide troubleshooting support for complex machining challenges.
- Train and guide less experienced machinists to enhance team capability.
- Design or adapt fixtures as needed; work creatively when fixtures aren’t available.
- Identify and utilize the appropriate gages to support machining processes.
- Apply shop mathematics effectively in daily tasks.
- Recommend modifications to drawings or GD&T specifications when improvements are identified.
- Develop and share instructional content; lead training sessions and skills development.
- Perform or collaborate on root cause analyses; propose practical countermeasures and help drive process improvements.
- Select, size, and request tooling required for production, including situations lacking established Standard Work.
- Review, edit, and adjust CNC programs to minimize errors and support customization needs; create basic programs from scratch when required.
- Establish and maintain daily/weekly preventive maintenance routines and 5S practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in CNC turning, milling, grinding, and gear manufacturing.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and following Standard Work.
- Skilled in using specialized measuring tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proven record of reliability, performance, and professionalism.
- Trade school certification in a related field preferred.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude.
- Additional professional training or education is a plus.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Job Description Our Machine Operators are starting at $19.50/hour.
Additionally, this position is eligible for shift differential based on hours worked.
Responsibilities: Perform accurate data entry transactions within MRP system along with accurately recording information on the Discrete job to ensure material traceability/accountability Reads and interprets a variety of work schedules, Kanban, Discrete job, bill of materials, pick lists, drawings and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) Operation of various equipment while achieving quality standards, a production plan and cost objectives.
Perform machine changeovers Perform minor adjustments and perform troubleshooting logic to maintain part specifications and conducts all operations within guidelines of the SOP's and operational codes Assist in the PM of assigned machinery Independently start up and operate equipment as per applicable procedures Recognize technical problems that require assistance from machine shop/engineering and request support as needed Provide feedback on processes and machine performance to engineering and manufacturing management Provide training to other machine operators as requested Continually review procedures for clarity, completeness and correctness.
Demonstrate the ability to reference and talk through manufacturing procedures Maintain a clean and safe working environment Set up work station with necessary equipment and supplies as per job assignment Coordinate with Production Supervisors/Coordinators to meet production requirements Operates bar coding and other computerized equipment Manages in order to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory/legal requirements Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements May perform other duties as assigned Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to actively communicate with Production Coordinator and/or Production Supervisor.
