As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you will develop the physics-based models that enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software. You will perform simulation analysis and assess correlation with real-world data to demonstrate that the models are representative of the actual system.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics (aerodynamics, ground reactions, actuator models, etc.)

• Identify, request, and analyze flight tests necessary to inform modeling

• Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems with simulated aircraft dynamics

• Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing simulation and flight data

• Perform validation of simulation models against flight test data

Basic Success Criteria

• BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

• 5+ years experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification

• Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Linux-based development environments and scripting

• Experience with developing validated physics-based models as well as integration and testing of these models

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Criteria

• MS or PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

• Experience with high fidelity physics-based aircraft or other complex simulation systems

• Current pilot, instrument or commercial ratings

What You Will Do

• Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi-disciplined team. This would include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.

The DevSecOps Lead Engineer will architect and implement secure development and execution environments for the rapid prototyping and experimentation we use to answer our customers’ toughest questions about future technologies and capabilities. The Virtual Warfare Center executes far-reaching analysis to address military capability gaps in and across multiple warfighting domains in the face of accelerating adversary capabilities. In DevSecOps you will be part of a team modernizing our approach to software development and enhancing our security posture.

As the Virtual Warfare Center’s DevSecOps Team Lead you will lead a team of engineers designing, implementing, and monitoring software development infrastructure across multiple networks and physical locations across the United States. You will build and maintain cross-functional relationships with multiple teams to coordinate the selection, approval, deployment, and maintenance of a consistent set of software tools in all locations. Your work will guarantee our development and deployment infrastructure and processes are reliable, efficient, consistent, and secure. The Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) Department in Tucson, AZ is a multi-discipline organization responsible for designing, building and integrating state of the art testing environments (flight simulators for missiles), as the last step before flight test.  On our team, you will work with weapon system designers to understand requirements, design solutions, integrate, and deploy the systems to help support tactical software development, testing, and delivery for missiles to the warfighter.

This position is within the Effectors Center of the HWIL organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ

What You Will Do

• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to develop software to control Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWIL) facilities (flight simulators for missiles).

• Software design, coding and integration in a real-time environment.

• Travel up to 20% to support development and/or delivery of our test environment equipment.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a  minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.

• Experience with software development in C++, using the object-oriented features.

• Active and transferrable final Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience contributing to the design, development and/or integration of the test equipment and/or hardware (software that controls complicated hardware systems)

• Strong organization, coordination, planning, teaming skills, as well as written and oral communication skills.

• Experience with Software Agile Process.

• Experience developing software using a Linux operating systems.

• Some comprehension of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) terminology analysis purposes.
