ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Timely and proper inspection, repair, maintenance, and installation of customer equipment in a manner that exceeds customer expectations and that is consistent with Rite-Hite's image as the industry leader in customer service.

  • Perform installation, inspection, and repair of equipment in the field in an expeditious manner while assuring the customer's needs are met and exceeded. This is mainly accomplished individually but may sometimes be accomplished in small teams.

  • As skills and knowledge develop, guide other Service Technicians with less skills/knowledge through complex problems in the field. This may include training other Service Technicians in the proper field installation, service and repair of equipment and proper administrative procedures instilling Rite-Hite's commitment to customer service.

  • Using the handheld devices (or paper backup forms if needed) accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with field service, repair, and installation, including service tickets, timesheets, open job tracking form and safety analysis sheets.

  • Maintain compliance with operation and communication standards as per the Field Service Technician Handbook.

  • This position requires the operation of a service vehicle in compliance with DOT Driver Qualification standards, as well as truck-based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power and hand tools.

  • Follow all customer-specific requirements, policies, safety guidelines and directions on their work sites.

  • Work closely with all other departments in the company, communicating and coordinating activities to efficiently maximize customer satisfaction.

  • "Occasional (under 20% annually) domestic overnight travel may be required for training, supporting customers at other offices, etc. may be required."

The pay range for this position is $20-35. We take geographic differentials into consideration in areas of higher cost of living. We offer nine paid holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve). New employees are eligible for up to two weeks of vacation (pro-rated based on hire date within 1st year of employment). We offer additional paid time off based on tenure. Based on time in the job, you will be eligible for additional PTO (vacation, sick leave, etc.). We offer 72 hours PTO (1 hour for every 40 worked) to employees in Colorado.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The successful individual will possess:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and

  • One to five year's experience in repair and service of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment

How You'll Contribute:




The installation technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of the actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate with project management, field superintendents and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. They interpret our drawing packages to create the basis of the finished systems. This installation can include displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, etc. Will also provide advice and guidance to Associate Installation Technicians as necessary.



Location: Must live in the Washington DC - VA area.



What You'll Do:





  • Perform structured cabling installation: pull, terminate, label, and dress cables per project documentation and standards.

  • Complete physical installation and wiring of AV devices (displays, speakers, microphones, cameras, control interfaces, etc.).

  • Assemble, populate, and dress equipment racks with a high degree of workmanship and adherence to design documents.

  • Solder and terminate connectors according to project specifications and accepted industry practices.

  • Execute light physical construction tasks as required (e.g., blocking, mounting surfaces, hardware installation).

Complexity:

Decision Making Authority:




This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement about decisions that need to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor are available to answer questions. This position requires good diplomacy in working with our clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. The employee may be exposed to construction site conditions on a regular basis. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 60% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The employee must have the ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 40 pounds in construction areas. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision. When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.




Travel:




Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to job sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times. 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.

Job Summary:



The installation technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of the actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate with project management, field superintendents and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. They interpret our drawing packages to create the basis of the finished systems. This installation can include displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, etc. Will also provide advice and guidance to Associate Installation Technicians as necessary.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:





  • Possess all skills from Associate Install Technician and most skills from the Associate Fabrication Technician job descriptions to install components and make modifications on site as necessary to complete the project

  • Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations.

  • Execute a wide variety of cabling terminations for all wire and connector types and ability to test completed terminations.

  • Support the preparation of equipment racks for staging of equipment wire lacing including installation of power strips, grounding bars, jack-fields, etc.

  • Able to read and understand functional design drawings as well as cable riser diagrams and all architectural drawings.

  • Able to assist in the mounting of base build equipment such as monitor mounts, ceiling speakers' microphones and projectors.

Complexity:



This level of technician will be responsible for performing tasks on clients job sites with little supervision. On smaller projects this position may be responsible for the coordination with clients, contractors and subcontractors.



Decision Making Authority:



This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement about decisions that need to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor are available to answer questions. This position requires good diplomacy in working with our clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee. The employee may be exposed to construction site conditions on a regular basis. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with all safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. The employee can typically spend at least 60% of their time on their feet and be required to mobile around the construction site. The employee must have the ability to occasionally climb ladders, use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 40 pounds in construction areas. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controls required for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision. When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.



Travel:



Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to job sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times. 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:

 

This position is responsible and accountable for directing and overseeing a team of technicians responsible for the installation of hardware components of audio-visual systems ensuring all financial, programmatic and operating systems meet established targets.  This position reports to a Project Manager and is a member of the Operations team supporting the mission and goals of a "Best in Class" sales and AV integration program.  As an experienced member of a dynamic installation operation, the Lead AV Technician will work independently to coordinate, receive, inventory, assemble and install AV equipment on job site locations to comply with the company’s policies and procedures, including quality, safety, environmental, and business practices.

 

 Residency within 60 miles of Buffalo, NY is required.  As a national company, opportunities to work at job sites across the country are also available.

 

Essential job functions, duties and responsibilities:

This position is responsible for independently coordinating and overseeing teams responsible for the process of receiving, inventorying, assembling and installing AV equipment on job site locations. This position requires a variety of duties including construction labor as well as installation, troubleshooting and repair but not limited to:

  • Directing the actions of others and be able to complete installations independently
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and directing one or more installation teams and to ensure appropriate travel arrangements and accommodations when required
  • Being responsible for the training and oversight of level one and level two technicians working at job sites and assisting them in attaining higher level certifications
  • Moving and/or repositioning large equipment or wiring supplies. Individuals must be able to lift and carry heavy objects of 75 lbs. unassisted and to steady objects above shoulder height while fastened into place by co-workers
  • Trouble-shooting audio and video equipment installations
