Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

    • Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) systems, sensors, and algorithms for navigation in GPS-degraded environments

  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design

  • Experience with GNC and/or Signal Processing algorithms within a simulation or physical environment

  • Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment

  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree with 10 or more years of GNC, Signal Processing, and/or Modeling / Simulation experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and customers regarding matters of significant importance

  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities with overlapping deadline in an Agile environment

  • Subject Matter Expert in at least one of the following areas: RF algorithm design, GNC algorithm design, autopilot algorithm design or Software in Simulation

  • Experience with and demonstrable achievement in systems engineering principals with regards to product development

  • Engineering team leadership

The Emergency Department Navigator does not provide clinical care and does not extend or substitute for the more specialized services of a doctor, nurse, or social worker.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the Baby Bexar Healthy Families Community-Based Perinatal Health Initiative, this position will serve as liaison between health system providers and community based resources in order to improve maternal health outcomes for University Health patients. This position will work with a clinical care team and a team of social service agencies to assist and guide patients through prenatal, delivery and postpartum services. This position will provide screening services, education, support, and patient care coordination. Candidate will ensure appropriate information is disseminated, patient is navigated to medical appointments, and follow-up with health care needs. All functions and behaviors are applicable to the clinical and community settings. Additional activities will include patient tracking, data entry, and reporting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in social sciences, health education or related field of study is required. Four years of experience in the area of health education, public health, social work and/or case management may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's degree. Community Health Worker certification preferred. Knowledge and experience working with programs of similar scope and focus preferred. Spanish fluency is preferred.
