- Ensure the Building/Grounds/Equipment are maintained to promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance of all maintenance requirements, facilities requirements, Federal, State, local applicable regulations, OSHA, EPA, Tribal, and City of Chandler are followed.
- Own and manage capital budget. Track spending against budget
- Communicate with internal & external personnel on any matter relevant to your job function; (Phone, e-mail, in person, by mail; etc.) as long as the communication does not violate Kaiser Aluminum’s Code of Conduct.
- Solicit bids from contractors for new projects. Review proposals for completion & compliance with specifications & requirements.
- Monitor construction to ensure all specifications & requirements are met.
- Maintain working relationship with all utility companies e.g. (Gila River Power Authority & San Carlos Irrigation Project on plant power, Southwest Gas & maintenance requirements).
- Submit construction plans & building permit applications to Gila River Indian Community for review & approval. Arrange for permit fee payment after approval.
- Determine technical specifications for new equipment & solicit proposals from suppliers (ensuring conformance to specifications).
- Facilitate plant & equipment improvements (both equipment and process).
- Adhere to Chandler Business Process Narrative Sox Controls.
- Follow applicable Environmental, Quality, & Safety documents.
- Effectively manage and implement medium to high complexity multi-functional projects.
- Responsible for scheduling, budget management and facilitating of projects through all phases.
- Leverage and manage plant functional resources to successfully deliver project results.
What you will bring to the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production facility.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred).
- Strong background in electrical systems (480V, controls, sensors, instrumentation).
- Ability to read electrical schematics and automation documentation.
- Analyze and design capital improvement projects through coordination with multiple departments and plant needs.
- Ensure all electrical and control system work complies with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and company standards.

- Ensure proper operation of electrical distribution systems, control panels, instrumentation, and sensors.

Troubleshoot and repair PLC controlled production equipment.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment, as well as improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Interpret electrical schematics and PLC programs.
Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with safety policies.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required, trade or technical school certificate a plus.
Minimum of 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Must be available to work 1st or 3rd shift.

Ability to handle physical workload including lifting heavy items, standing for long periods, and being mobile on the shop floor.

Basic Job Functions: The role of the Automation Technician is to work with the Maintenance and Production teams to maximize the safety of and to maintain and optimize the processes.
This will include using engineering principles, algorithms and techniques to trouble-shoot and improve both the process and equipment and to develop/implement future improvement plans.
The teammate must be able to support the integration of robots into custom designed manufacturing cells and fabrication processes.
This will include both hardware and software and will likely require additional support outside normal business hours.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
This position is regional in nature and will require regular travel to other Nucor locations to proactively find improvement opportunities as well as to help solve existing problems, train other team members, assist with regional maintenance and to learn/share best practices.
This position is not limited to only these responsibilities, the area Supervisor/Manager may add responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities Install, maintain, and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production process Troubleshoot non-functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems Attend automation, robotics, and equipment supplier training Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
