ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Deliver patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation. Assist with various procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment (e.g., tympanometry, spirometry). Maintain aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration.
Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations under the direction of providers.
Prepare and organize patient charts with necessary information. File dictations and ensure completion of all required documentation. Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care
Schedule procedures, labs, x-rays, and surgeries; provide pre- and post-surgery information. Assist with patient outreach for overdue visits, labs, and referrals.
Coordinate physician schedules and ensure insurance pre-certifications. Schedule and manage patient follow-ups, ensuring continuity of care.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to organizational standards and ethical guidelines.
Educate patients and families based on assessed needs and discharge plans.
Promote evidence-based resources to optimize nursing practice and patient care.
Proactively serves as a patient advocate by utilizing courteous and professional etiquette at all times reflecting positive tone and speaking distinctly with poise, tact and assurance. Assures accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel.
Assists in training, orienting, and supporting new colleagues. Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.
Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider. Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Must obtain one of the following certifications listed for a Medical Assistant with their corresponding listed certification provider within one year of hire:

POSITION PURPOSE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
3. Current Iowa RN license, (current IL license if working in IL) required.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within three (3) months of hire.
5. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within three (3) months of hire.
6. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter for both Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training is required within six (6) months of hire.

What you will Do:
Escorts patients to exam rooms. Obtains and documents data to include but not limited to chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk. Obtains and reviews basic health history information. Anticipates and prepares exam room with equipment and supplies required for the visit. Assists with exam/procedures as requested.
Utilizes written Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa policies and procedures, and universal precautions when performing laboratory/diagnostic tests. Reports and documents all critical lab/diagnostic test values to the provider. Performs, maintains and documents quality controls as applicable/requested (i.e., logs, proficiency test, maintenance records, etc).
Assists in scheduling patient for office appointments, lab/diagnostic tests/referrals. Reviews written test preparation handout with patient and documents in medical record. Refers patient to provider/registered nurse if education is required.
Completes charge ticket/submits charges in an electronic health record to include and obtain the diagnosis from the provider, identifying and initialing all billable supplies and services. Obtains ABN per e-LMRP as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Medical Assistant: Graduate of an approved school for medical assistant required; Credentialed as a medical assistant is required. (CMA, RMA, NCMA)
LPN: Graduate of a school of nursing is required. A current Iowa License as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is required. A current Minnesota License as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse may be required based on Department needs. Minnesota license must be current before working in a Minnesota location.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages. Uses a team approach to delegate and coordinate patient care at admission, transfer, and discharge. Position Purpose:
Our nurses assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the Cath Lab as well as cross training into the EP lab.
What you will Do:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients.
Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs and PCAs.
Facilitates communication with physicians, families and other team members.
Hours/Schedule:
7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
.9 FTE. days
Must take call during the week and every third weekend
Must be within 20-30 minutes of Medical Center while on call
Minimum Qualifications:
Current IA RN license
BSN preferred
Cardiac experience strongly preferred
