The Opportunity
We are seeking a Technical Partner to join the founding leadership team of Origin Precision Machining. This is not a traditional employment role.
This is a strategic partnership opportunity for a technically elite CNC machinist who wants to help build and own a high-performance aerospace machining company from the ground up.
You will be responsible for leading the technical direction of the shop, establishing and maintaining relationships with prime contractors, setting production standards and SOPs, and overseeing machining operations.
Your Impact
As a technical partner, you will:
- Develop the technical foundation of the machine shop
- Lead equipment selection, layout, and process development
- Establish manufacturing processes such as AS9100
- Drive first-article success on tight-tolerance aerospace hardware

Core Responsibilities
Technical & Operational Leadership
- Lead setup, operation, and optimization of multi-axis CNC mills and lathes
- Program complex components using offline CAM software (Mastercam, NX, Esprit, etc.)
- Oversee EDM operations (wire and sinker), including AgieCharmilles platforms
- Develop machining strategies for tight-tolerance, high-value components
- Establish tooling standards, fixture strategies, and process documentation
- Drive first-article inspection readiness and repeatability
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled CAM, toolpath optimization, and process simulation technologies.
- Develop data capture standards across machines to enable future AI-driven optimization and predictive maintenance.
- Build a digitally native shop floor using automation, analytics, and intelligent workflow systems from inception.
Systems & Compliance
- Build manufacturing processes aligned with AS9100 quality standards, and others
- Prepare the shop for ITAR and future CMMC readiness
- Implement GD&T standards per ASME Y14.5
- Develop internal work instructions and production documentation
- Support transition from prototype to production runs
Strategic & Growth Responsibilities
- Collaborate on capital equipment decisions and expansion planning
- Assist in vendor selection and outside processing management (heat treat, coating, grinding, etc.)
- Identify continuous improvement initiatives (Lean principles)
- Support quoting strategy and manufacturability analysis (DFM)
- Help recruit and mentor future machinists and programmers
Digital & AI Infrastructure Leadership
- Architect an AI-forward machining environment from day one.
- Identify opportunities for AI integration in:
(i) Toolpath optimization
(ii) Quoting and cost modeling
(iii) Quality inspection and anomaly detection
(iv) Machine monitoring and predictive maintenance
(v) Production scheduling and capacity planning
- Establish a scalable digital backbone (ERP/MES/QMS integration).
- Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies relevant to advanced manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of advanced CNC machining experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing
- Strong multi-axis machining experience (3–5 axis milling, turning)
- Experience with EDM (wire and/or sinker preferred)
- Deep understanding of blueprint interpretation and GD&T
- Proven ability to machine tight-tolerance components in difficult materials (titanium, Inconel, stainless alloys, etc.)
- Proficient in CNC programming using offline software such as UG, Esprit, or MasterCam.
- Experience with AgieCharmilles EDM machines and/or various CNC controls (Okuma, Fanuc, etc.).
- Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of outside processing techniques (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).
- Experience building setups from scratch and solving complex machining challenges

The Cost Estimator is responsible for analyzing project requirements and preparing accurate cost estimates for steel tube products, fabrication, and related services. This role involves evaluating tubular dimensions, specifications, technical drawings, material requirements, labor, production processes, and market pricing to support competitive quoting, profitability analysis, and strategic decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Analysis
- Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for PTG’s tubular products, including raw materials, processing, fabrication, packaging, and transportation.
- Review prints, specifications, and customer requirements to determine material dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing needs.
- Apply production times, labor rates, equipment usage, and overhead allocations.
- Evaluate supplier quotes for raw steel, coatings, finishes, and outsourced services.
- Maintain cost models for various steel tube sizes, grades, and manufacturing scenarios.
- Conduct post‑project or post‑quote variance reviews by comparing estimated vs. actual costs and update cost models accordingly.

Position Overview
The Lead Modeling Scientist has a key role in advancing Novelis’ capabilities in computational modeling, with the primary objective of linking aluminum sheet process conditions, microstructure and texture evolution, and material properties. This work will support faster product innovation across various markets in which Novelis operates, as well as improved plant performance. The role requires an unique combination of deep expertise in metallurgy and materials science, coupled with advanced modeling proficiency.
The position focuses on predictive modeling, which is integrated with experimental validation and data analytics to optimize manufacturing processes for aluminum products. As a key member of Novelis’ Americas R&D organization, the Lead Modeling Scientist will spearhead the development and deployment of multi-physics, multi-scale materials modeling and physics-guided AI modeling capabilities. These efforts are critical for accelerating the development of sustainable products and processes.
Central to the role is bridging microstructural length scales as applied to Novelis’ products—including sheet and plate—and to the company’s manufacturing processes such as casting, rolling, and heat treatments. The position will also focus on developing a deeper understanding of the relationships among alloy chemistry, thermomechanical processing, microstructure, properties, and overall product performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) models that connect process parameters, microstructure, and properties for flat aluminum sheet products, including processes such as homogenization, heat treatment, precipitation, recrystallization, texture development and grain growth.
- Design and implement multi-scale models to link process parameters with microstructure and properties for casting, rolling, heat treatment, coating, CASH, batch annealing and related processes relative to Flat Rolled Aluminum Products.
- Constitutive behavior models: Flow stress, work hardening, strain rate sensitivity
- Formability & failure prediction models: FLD, FLC, earing, spring-back, bendability
- Create and refine process simulation tools using methods such as finite element, finite difference, cellular automata, and phase-field modeling to predict thermal and mechanical behavior.
- Integrate modeling results with experimental characterization techniques (including SEM, EBSD, XRD, DSC) and plant data to validate predictions and continually improve model accuracy.
- Build thermodynamic and kinetic models using tools like Thermo-Calc, DICTRA, TC-Prisma, and Pandat to support alloy design and process optimization.
- Lead end-to-end modeling projects, from scoping and model development through validation and deployment, with the goal of improving or innovating aluminum sheet products and processes across beverage packaging, automotive, specialties, and aerospace markets.
- Automate workflows for predicting microstructure-property relationships and incorporate feedback from plant trials to enhance model robustness.
- Collaborate with plant engineers and R&D teams to apply models for troubleshooting and improving productivity, recovery, and quality.
- Document methodologies and results in technical reports and contribute to intellectual property through invention disclosures and patents.
Minimum qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with more than ten years of experience in computational modeling.
- Expertise in metallurgy and materials science, as well as process and microstructure modeling for metallic systems, especially aluminum alloys. Flat rolled aluminum products experience is largely preferred
- Proficiency in modeling software such as Thermo-Calc, DICTRA, TC-Prisma, and Pandat, and in numerical methods including finite element, finite difference, cellular automata, and phase-field modeling.
- Programming skills in MATLAB, FORTRAN, and C/C++, along with proficiency in statistical analysis tools like JMP and R.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and characterization techniques.
- Excellent technical communication and project management skills.
