Job Description

The Utilities Area Manager is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, and strategic direction of the Utilities Department involving water, sewer, and storm drain operations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive utility construction experience, including senior field or operations management roles.

Demonstrated success leading departments, business units, or multi-project operations.

Strong understanding of utility construction means and methods, production planning, cost control, and equipment utilization regarding installation of water, sewer and storm drain on our sites.

Proven ability to analyze operational and financial data and drive performance improvements.

Demonstrated leadership presence with the ability to influence, develop, and hold teams accountable.

High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Ability to read, understand, and implement construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record per SBCC policy.

Must meet SBCC employment standards with regards to background checks and drug testing.

Position description

The School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of part-time, non-tenure track lecturers to teach on-campus courses in the Master of Information Management and Systems. We seek exceptional instructors with professional and/or academic expertise who can teach courses for I School doctoral and master's level students and other UC Berkeley graduate students in related fields, as well as undergraduate courses. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the School.



Applicants will be selected from this pool for the academic year (including summer sessions), when there is curricular need. Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester, and appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance. Who You Are


  • 10+ years of experience in experiential design, brand design, or creative leadership within an agency, event production, or experiential marketing environment
  • A proven creative leader who has shaped and delivered large-scale experiential programs, conferences, or brand activations
  • Demonstrated success leading creative development for new business opportunities, including pitching concepts and presenting creative rationale to clients
  • Deep understanding of spatial storytelling, environmental graphics, fabrication processes, and live event production
  • Experience working in early-stage project environments, defining creative direction from initial concept through execution
  • A confident communicator who can present creative ideas clearly and persuasively to executives and clients
  • Experienced leading multidisciplinary teams of designers and collaborating closely with producers, strategists, and fabrication partners

Compensation


This role is structured as a contract-to-hire opportunity, beginning as a project-based contract engagement paid through payroll.


The anticipated salary range for the full-time role is $175,000–$325,000 annually, depending on experience, portfolio, and scope of work.


Hourly compensation during the contract phase will be set based on experience and aligned with the full-time salary range.

Customer Relationship Management Helps blur the lines between business and technology

  • Establishes the appropriate IT / Business engagement model and corresponding set of IT services aligned to a Divisions business model. This position will act as a mini CIO for these groups.
  • Develops relationships with key business stakeholders to understand their business strategies, needs, and challenges
  • Gathers information on the business and technology objectives for business units, identifies customer needs and creates a shared technology plan to support business outcomes

Technology Strategy Influences, provide options for the BU to win with technology and data

  • Gathers and communicates market research on insurance and technology trends that is relevant to our business customers

  • Partners with IT Delivery Managers, Enterprise Architects, and business stakeholders on developing the \"OneTeam\" delivery model playbook for success including the CSAT outcomes, team structure, roles, etc. across all initiatives for a particular business unit

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of related experience required
    • Prior experience within the P&C industry with deep knowledge Insurance domain expertise, a deep knowledge of various insurance functions across the value chain.
    • Strong level of technology expertise/breath (digital, automation, application modernization, data, analytics, etc.)
    • Strong experience building relationships (trust) and managing stakeholder expectations from strategy to planning and execution; including abilities to create win-win partnerships, with a strong understanding of give and take
    • Prior experience consulting skills or experience facilitating business and technology strategies; Ability to see the big picture and plan out steps to achieve it.
    • Ability to influence change, energize business and technical teams and foster buy in at all levels
    • Experience with navigating organizations and driving alignment and urgency across cross functional teams
    • Prior experience driving business transformation and organizational change
    • Prior experience leading complex and large-scale technology initiatives and engagements
  • Genuine curiosity and passion for all things technology to apply the industry trends into the business

Salary Range: $155,600.00 -$208,400.00
