Buyer
🏢 Plug
Salary not disclosed
Santa Monica, CA 3 days ago

Buyer

Location: Santa Monica, CA (Onsite)

Compensation: $70,000 + Commission

Team: Trade Desk / Vehicle Sourcing

About Plug

Plug is the industry’s first EV-exclusive wholesale online auction platform.

EVs’ functionality, longevity, and value depend on factors like range, computer hardware, software-enabled features, destination charging networks, tax credits, and battery health. But in today’s market, most EVs are bought and sold using processes and data sources built for ICE vehicles. EV-specific information is generally absent or inaccurate, which is a disadvantage to most buyers and suppresses residual values.

Backed by world-class venture capital firms with deep expertise in automotive marketplaces, and founded by the former head of North America Remarketing at Tesla, Plug makes buying qand selling used EVs faster, more transparent, and more profitable for dealers.

The Opportunity

Plug is looking for a wholesale EV Buyer to join our growing team. This is a critical, high-ownership role where you will work directly with inbound consumer leads and vehicle submissions via our EV Trade Desk. You’ll be responsible for appraising vehicles, managing offers, and ensuring successful and timely purchases, all while helping Plug scale.

This is a fast-moving role that demands a sharp eye for vehicle condition, pricing acumen, and relentless follow-up. You’ll work closely with sales, operations, and leadership to ensure every deal is tight, every margin is sound, and every seller is taken care of with speed and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appraise vehicles submitted via Plug’s EV Trade Desk, using internal pricing tools and industry knowledge to develop competitive, margin-conscious offers.
  • Field inbound inquiries from consumers and present offers.
  • Negotiate prices and make financially sound buying decisions, balancing margin and volume targets.
  • Own the offer pipeline – manage follow-up cadence, move customers through each step, and close the loop on transactions efficiently.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure all documents, payments, and vehicle details are processed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor market and retail pricing trends in the EV space to inform offer strategy and optimize conversions.
  • Maintain clean, organized workflows using Plug’s internal systems (CRM, appraisal tools, etc.)
  • Provide consistent feedback to leadership on pricing trends, consumer behavior, and opportunities to improve workflows.

Who You Are

This role isn’t for everyone. It’s for someone who wants to be in the middle of the action, who lives and breathes cars (especially EVs), and who can handle the pressure of making fast, smart, high-stakes decisions.

Non-Negotiables:

  • Deep passion for cars and/or EVs.
  • High integrity – we’re building a trusted platform; cutting corners is not an option.
  • Automotive experience – ideally in buying, appraising, remarketing, or dealership roles.
  • Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written, and interpersonally.
  • Sense of urgency – leads come in hot, and speed wins.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate – small mistakes are expensive.
  • Availability outside 9–5 – we’re commission-driven, and opportunity doesn’t keep office hours.

Compensation

Base Salary: Competitive

Commission: Uncapped — top performers are expected to earn into the six figures

KPI-Aligned: Commission will be based on accepted offers, gross margin, and pipeline management

Location

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Santa Monica, CA. We are only considering candidates who are currently located in, or willing to relocate to Los Angeles. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Plug is an Equal Opportunity Employer

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. And if you do, you suck.

Director of Process Engineering
Salary not disclosed
Seattle, WA 2 days ago

Director to VP of Process/Manufacturing & Engineering

Location: Seattle, WA / Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The core of this position is someone who has directly taken a chemical or process manufacturing technology from early stage development through pilot and into commercial production. Specifically someone who has scaled a process based manufacturing system, liquids, heat, pressure, continuous or batch processing, from benchtop or pilot scale to revenue generating commercial scale.

Must have

  • Direct experience scaling a process-based manufacturing system from pilot or bench scale to commercial production, ideally with clear quantifiable outcomes.

Strong preference

  • Experience doing this scale-up within a startup or resource-constrained environment.
  • Background in chemical or process engineering rather than mechanical or discrete manufacturing.
  • Experience building operational, quality, and production infrastructure during the early commercialization phase.
  • Quantifiable impact metrics around scaling chemical processes. This can take a few different forms, “ X size pilot to first $Y M/yr commercial production" or “Increased production Z%” etc.

Further, someone who has operated across engineering, supply chain, and operations, a true “operations-oriented engineer.” High level of independence and drive, ideally someone who proactively flags risks, pushes timelines, and takes ownership of execution.

This is a senior, execution-focused leader, responsible for translating our technology into safe, reliable, on-spec, and cost-disciplined production at scale via our external partner network. You will own the production and engineering strategy, including leading technology transfer, managing contract manufacturer (CM) performance, and driving EPC execution for facility expansion while working with executive leadership to set the strategy for continuous improvement and a large-scale manufacturing network. You will serve as the primary commercial and technical bridge between internal innovation team and the manufacturing environment. This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable turning a wrench, reviewing P& IDs, negotiating multi-million-dollar MSAs, and acting as the owner’s representative & quote, on major capital projects.

What You’ll Do

1. Strategic Technology Transfer and Scale-up

○ Lead the ‘Bench-to-Plant’ Interface: Manage the technical hand-off from internal development to external partners, ensuring processes are robust, documented, and ready for commercial-scale production.

○ Scale-Up Oversight: Steward production, quality, and throughput during the critical transition from pilot to commercial runs, troubleshooting as necessary

○ Process Integrity: Ensure high standards for quality and yield is maintained when processes leave our internal control and enter our partner network.

○ Manage all aspects of technology transfer from R&D to contract manufacturing partners, driving tonnage-scale, on-spec production.

○ Planning for Velocity: properly scope and strategically plan timelines to maintain a venture backed pace for scale-up

2. Contract Manufacturing Ownership and Commercial Strategy

○ Commercial Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of Master Service Agreements (MSAs), tolling fees, and other manufacturing contracts. You are responsible for structuring deals that align incentives and protect our interests.

○ Partner Management: Serve as the single point of accountability for CM relationships. Set, track, and enforce KPIs for quality, OTIF delivery, and yield.

○ COGs Ownership: Own the external production cost model and rigorously define cost drivers and partner with the finance team to forecast scenarios and define and refine unit economics.

3. EPC Leadership and Scale Up

○ Project Delivery Strategy: Select and manage the appropriate project delivery model (e.g. Design-Bid-Build vs EPCM) and lead the selection of EPC vendors

○ Front-End Definition: Provide rigorous oversight of FEL/FEED stages to lock in scope before capital commitment.

○ Owner’s Representative: Act as primary “Owner’s Rep” for all capital projects, holding external firms accountable for schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance, serving as decision maker of change orders.

○ Own the Build: Oversee the physical execution of facility upgrades or new builds, ensuring a seamless handover to operations.

○ Provide technical input into the strategy of where and how to manufacture product to support business growth

4. Quality, Safety, and Risk Management

○ EHS Compliance: Audit and enforce safety standards at CM and any external sites where we are operating.

○ Supply Chain Risk: Identify point of failure in our external network and develop contingency plans for capacity and logistics

○ Quality: Own and maintain Ravel’s quality management framework, including oversight of SOPs, documentation, and continuous improvement across internal operations and external partner.

What You’ll Bring

● B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience gained through progressive responsibility in manufacturing operations. A PhD or MBA is a strong plus.

● 10+ years’ experience in chemical/process manufacturing, technology transfer, and/or contract manufacturing at pilot or commercial scale.

● Capital Projects Fluency: Demonstrated experience acting as the “Owner” on a capital project ($20M+). You understand the difference between FEL 1/2/3 and know how to control TIC.

● Commercial Acumen: Strong experience negotiating tolling agreements, joint development agreements, and construction contracts. You know how to structure a deal to protect IP and cash risk.

● Technical Authority: Ability to read PFDs/P&IDs and challenge engineering partners on design.

● Willingness to Travel: This role requires being present where the work is, at CMs and construction sites (approx 30-50% travel)

This is an opportunity to own manufacturing strategy and execution at a company scaling breakthrough technology into the real world. You will shape how we manufacture globally, with executive-level accountability for cost, quality, delivery, and facilities, and play a central role in the company’s next phase of growth.

Join a passionate, visionary team as we build a future where textile production and consumption are part of a sustainable, closed-loop system.

Associate Consultant | Digital Innovation Team
✦ New
🏢 17a
Salary not disclosed
San Jose, CA 1 day ago

Who We Are:

17A is a new type of management consulting firm. We come from places like McKinsey, Palantir, JP Morgan Philanthropies, and venture-backed Healthcare startups. We share a common goal: improving the quality of government and social services. 17A believes that trust in government is something to be continuously built and earned, through strong service delivery.

We have a dynamic core team, and partner with Consultants, known internally as Project-Based Team Members, to bring the best combination of expertise to what we do. Our team has varied skills from a range of industries and experiences, including management consulting, technology and analytics, and public service. If you've spent the early part of your career in consulting or a fast-paced analytical environment and you're ready to apply those skills to something with direct civic impact, 17A is for you.

The Opportunity:

17A is supporting a large Bay Area county agency on a technology and digital services transformation effort. This is a fully embedded, on-site role — not parachuting in. You'll work inside the agency's digital innovation team, sitting alongside Deputy-level leadership to help the county deliver on its mission to make government more human, more responsive, and more digital. This position is a contract role with the potential to convert to full-time after a few months.

This agency has taken a distinctive approach to transformation: rather than buying expensive new systems and hoping for the best, it's doing the hard, human-centered work of dismantling bureaucracy, redesigning how services are delivered, and building a digital culture from the inside. A core initiative — which brings departments through rapid, structured sprints to identify and address service delivery friction — will be a major focus of this role.

This is a chief-of-staff style position for a sharp, early-career operator ready to take on real ownership. You'll help senior leaders turn strategy into action — managing complex initiatives across departments, facilitating working sessions, and communicating progress clearly to executive and operational audiences.

What You'll Do

  • Serve in a chief-of-staff capacity to Deputy-level leaders within the innovation team, helping translate priorities into structured plans and concrete next steps
  • Support coordination and execution of digital transformation sprints, including logistics, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and follow-through on recommendations
  • Facilitate working sessions with department staff and senior leaders to map current-state processes, identify friction points, and co-design improvements
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional workstreams, tracking progress, surfacing blockers, and keeping stakeholders aligned across a large, multi-department organization
  • Prepare executive-level communications including briefings, memos, presentations, and decision documents for senior agency leadership
  • Conduct rapid research and analysis to support emerging decisions and evolving priorities
  • Help build the internal documentation, playbooks, and operational systems the innovation team needs to scale its impact countywide
  • Operate as a collaborative, low-ego team member who is genuinely embedded in the agency's culture and mission

Who You Are

You're 1–2 years into your career and you're looking for a role where you can do meaningful work and see the results directly. You might be a current or former:

  • Business Analyst or Associate at a management consulting firm
  • Fellow or analyst at a public sector-focused organization (e.g., a government innovation lab, a civic tech organization, or a public agency)
  • Analyst in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where you built strong project management and communication muscles

The Skillset:

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are energized by the mission — you genuinely care about improving how government works and the people it serves
  • Are comfortable operating with ambiguity and building structure where there isn't any yet
  • Have strong project management instincts and can keep multiple workstreams moving simultaneously
  • Can communicate clearly and credibly with both frontline staff and senior leaders
  • Understand that real transformation requires engineering culture, not just deploying technology
  • Are ready to be embedded — not just advisory — and want to see the direct impact of your work
  • Are based in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area

Bonus if you have:

  • Familiarity with local or county government operations
  • Experience with digital services, human-centered design, or service delivery improvement
  • Prior exposure to process redesign, organizational change, or operational improvement
  • Interest in civic technology and the future of public service delivery
