Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a hands-on QualityManager, Software Quality Engineering to join our Quality & Lean Organization in Multiple Locations!

This is an on-site position and may be located at one of the following locations: Berkeley, MO; Mesa, AZ or Ridley Park, PA.

In this role you will lead a distributed team of Software Quality Engineers supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense programs. You will align SQE priorities with program needs across St. Louis, Huntington Beach, and Fairfax, partner with Business Unit leads to define workload and technical expectations, and drive improved SQE engagement and software quality practices across the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and manage a team of Software Quality Engineers supporting multiple BDS programs; own hiring, performance development, and career progression.

• Translate program technical and contractual requirements into SQE priorities and deliverables; align SQE execution with program schedules and budgets.

• Define and implement SQE processes, checklists, and metrics to verify software compliance, reliability, and safety on assigned programs.

• Provide approval and oversight of technical approaches, software verification strategies, and software quality artifacts.

• Coordinate supplier SQE activities; provide technical direction and assess supplier deliverables for quality and conformance.

• Identify and drive continuous process improvements (root-cause analysis, lessons learned, defect reduction).

• Maintain productive relationships with customers, stakeholders, program managers, and cross-functional teams; escalate and resolve elevated SQE issues.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

• 5+ years of experience supporting software development programs, including hands-on experience with software verification, reviews, or testing

• 1+ year of experience leading technical teams (people management, mentoring, performance management)

• 1+ year of proven ability working with program leadership to prioritize and resolve technical quality issues

Responsibilities

As a Flight Software Test V&V Engineer on the Simulation and Test Systems team, you will be instrumental in testing and deploying autonomous aircraft software. Position Responsibilities:

About You:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in DO-178C flight software development and avionics integration. In this role, you will design and implement safety-critical autonomous flight software, integrate it with avionics hardware platforms, and contribute to certification-ready development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, integrate, and verify flight-critical software using C/C++ following DO-178C processes.
• Build application-level flight software and ensure robust integration with underlying avionics hardware interfaces
• Create, maintain and review software requirements, code and certification artifacts adhering to certification plans and standards
• Troubleshoot integration issues on test benches and aircraft
• Develop automated workflows for software integration and build processes.
• Collaborate with engineers from cross functional groups such as systems, safety, hardware, flight controls and test to ensure product and program level needs are met.
• Contribute to planning and execution of SOI audits and certification reviews.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software requirements, architecture, build processes and design decisions
• Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), processor-in-the-loop (PIL), and flight testing activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.
• 3-5 years of embedded or flight software development experience within a DO-178C environment.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded, real-time, safety-critical systems.
• Understanding of avionics protocols and architectures (ARINC 429, ARINC 653, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet).
• Experience designing and implementing software for real-time operating systems (RTOS), with strong knowledge of low level topics such as device driver development, interrupt handling, memory management, and performance estimation.
• Strong experience with requirements management, including authoring high-quality software requirements, maintaining traceability, and using tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
• Experience with hardware/software integration, debugging on target hardware, and use of analysis tools (logic analyzers, bus analyzers).

• Experience with CI/CD environments and automated code quality checks.
