The mechanical team is a small group of highly motivated people designing, testing, and flying advanced mechanical systems. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be an influential part of the Mechanical Engineering team helping to drive engineering methods and product quality. The hardware focus is on high reliability safety critical mechanisms and structures, with significant cross-functional development with the Systems, Avionics, GNC, Software, Manufacturing, and Flight Test teams. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

You will design, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote piloted aircraft. Own your hardware from initial conception through flight test and certification...this is cradle-to-grave engineering with hands-on build, test, and integration. Lead cross-functional trades and drive performance and design decisions to closure. You will bring a sense of humility, and be ready to both learn and teach.

Basic Success Criteria

  • BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years professional experience developing mechanical systems

  • Mastery of at least one of the following areas: Design, Analysis, Manufacturing, Test, or Certification

As a Sr. Master Scheduler / Buyer at Reliable Robotics, you'll play a critical role in building relationships with key industry partners/suppliers, driving supplier execution for safety-critical systems, and continuously improving our supply chain processes. You will be part of the Production organization, a growing team of highly motivated professionals passionate about delivering high-quality products and services on time, with unquestionable quality. You will have hands-on responsibility for managing end-to-end supply chain activities, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP), supplier relationship management, procurement, inventory management, and kitting. You will also mitigate supply risks, resolve procurement discrepancies, and drive cost-reduction initiatives while acting as the liaison between engineering, quality, and manufacturing. These responsibilities require a strong understanding of the aerospace/aviation market, business objectives, and supplier capabilities to ensure success. This position requires coordinating with internal customers, managing a complex supplier portfolio, and communicating with leadership to develop, implement, and achieve business objectives. Responsibilities

  • Lead MRP master scheduling for non-recurring engineering, formal engineering development, certification, and production projects, including conducting capacity analyses to mitigate short and long-term schedule risks, identify systemic issues, resolve shortages, and develop strategies to enable a healthy supply chain

  • Ensure predictable and uninterrupted supply by analyzing MRP messages, managing master data, bill of materials (BOMs), inventory replenishment strategies, and expediting deliveries with suppliers

  • Develop and implement strategies to drive supplier selection, qualification, commercial negotiations, contract development, and administration

  • Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis, including business/financial, capabilities, capacity, quality, throughput, technical capability, and risk assessments

  • Prepare, issue, and analyze request for quote (RFQ) / request for proposal (RFP) packages, evaluate quotes, translate engineering requirements into clear requests, negotiate with suppliers, place purchase orders, resolve invoice issues, and manage constraints and supplier performance

As an Electrical Test Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the avionics engineering team. We develop the wide variety of computing, sensing and actuation, power, and communications systems that are at the core of our automation system. We're looking for a broadly experienced individual to apply their electrical engineering and software automation skills to develop robust test solutions for complex hardware in a safety-critical environment. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of automated test equipment systems for functional, environmental qualification, and manufacturing acceptance tests

As a Systems Architect at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the Systems team and will report to the Systems & Safety Manager. The Systems & Safety Team is responsible for architecting systems which support novel safety-critical functions, establishing development methodologies for new technologies, and complying with the federal regulations.

As part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to expanding the aircraft's operational and functional capabilities. Your professional experience in system design and development will further strengthen the team's ability to meet rigorous expectations of stakeholders and certification authorities. You will collaborate with members from other groups within Reliable Robotics to architect new and novel systems necessary for unmanned aircraft operations.

Responsibilities

In your role as a Systems Architect you will be responsible for the development and architectural design of prototypes and certifiable safety-critical flight systems in a dynamic start-up work environment.

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Define new/novel functions necessary to control autonomous aircraft and manage contingencies

  • Define the relationship between the vehicle, pilot, and support system for remotely operated autonomous aircraft

  • Perform the decomposition of aircraft, system and LRU functions, define the system physical / logical architecture and allocate functionality

  • Perform trades studies to assess performance, complexity, risk, and cost of competing technical solutions

  • Work closely with system and safety analysts to define system architectural features to meet safety and security requirements

  • Derive and validate requirements and interfaces based on the architecture to ensure correct and complete implementation at the next design level
