CB3 is a medical-surgical unit, specializing in the care of liver and kidney transplant patients pre and post-surgery. The unit is one of the most diverse units in the organization caring for a diverse mix of complex medical and complex surgical patients.



Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.

This is a nurse residency position that upon hire or transfer into the program the nurse commits to a full time learning opportunity.Β  This program prepares the nurse for an operating room staff nurse position as well as forms the foundation required to successfully take pass the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) certification program. The program commences with a six month AORN, Periop 101 on line didactic program consisting of 27 modules, followed by a 3-5 month clinical orientation. The nurse will be assigned to a nurse educator and preceptor and earn 41.7 CEUs for completion of the online program.Β  Upon completion the nurse will be offered a full time position at either Manchester Memorial Hospital or Rockville General Hospital. A commitment to the Operating Room will be required for two years.

Β The candidate must be willing to undergo a rigorous application process that consists of surgeon, manager, nursing education and staff interviews, observation day and letters of recommendation.Β  The candidate must be willing to take and pass the Certified Registered Operating Nurse (CNOR) certification exam within six months from residency completion.

Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect patient –centered care.Β Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, patients and families.Β Communicates, as appropriate, the patient’s clinical condition, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.Β  Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.Β  Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews OASIS assessments for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance, providing recommendations to ensure quality and reliability.

Guides staff on clinical, documentation, and utilization decisions to improve OASIS accuracy and care quality, recommending cost-effective corrections that support clinical and operational goals.

Reviews visit utilization for appropriate patient care, collaborates and consults clinicians on needed adjustments, and reports utilization concerns and financial risks to the clinical manager. Ensures timely completion of HCHB workflows and maintains a flexible schedule to support agency needs.

Collaborates to identify documentation trends, supports improvement planning, participates in quality initiatives, and helps ensure compliance and accurate data submissions across all settings.



Qualifications

Degree from an accredited educational program leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). Required

Bachelor's degree in nursing, master's degree in PT, OT, SLP preferredΒ

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Practitioners are responsible for providing physical exams, psychiatric evaluations and addiction treatment including: diagnosis;Β prescribing; coordination of care, and patient education. Primary responsibilities will be in the inpatient withdrawal management and residential program, but may include Partial Hospital, Outpatient and community settings as determined by the Medical Director.Β  The practitioners will work closely with the Residential Medical Director, staff psychiatrists, and clinicians in a patient centered multidisciplinary treatment team approach.Β  The practitioner will hold licensure through the State of CT Department of Public Health and be credentialed through the medical staff of Rushford.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Β Β Β Evaluate patients through detailed physical exam,Β  a full review of psychosocial comprehensive assessments, and development of a detailed medical history.

2.Β Β Β Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests.Β  Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with primary care physicians and medical specialists.

3.Β Β Β In collaboration with clinical and nursing staff, develops and implements a treatment plan that involves and includes the patient in active participation in treatment. And revises the plan as indicated.

4.Β Β Β Writes orders forΒ  medications, treatments and other matters pertaining to patients care.

5.Β Β Β Writes progress notes on patient’s charts indicating patient status and treatment recommended.

6.Β Β Β Provides education to individuals or groups as appropriate and requested by the Medical Director.

7.Β Β Β Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and provides emotional support to family members when appropriate.

8.Β Β Β Charts observations, test results and all patient communication in the medical record as directed by Rushford policy and procedure.

9.Β Β Β Ensures accurate maintenance of patient’s medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.

10.Β Β Β Β Β Β Advises patients on use of various medication including dosage, side effects and composition.

11.Β Β Β Β Β Β Reviews and interprets results of diagnostic studies and tests, consults with supervisory physician when appropriate, incorporates information into plan of care.

12.Β Β Β Β Β Β Determines and discusses diagnosis with patient, documents information on charts including billing codes.

13.Β Β Β Β Β Β Recommends and develops new services and programs.

14.Β Β Β Β Β Β Participates in peer review, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guidelines development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards.

EDUCATION

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is a certified clinical nurse specialist. The PA holds a National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certificate and PA-C designation. CPR certification required. The job also requires an active CT DEA/CT Controlled Substance license.

JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Nursing manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations.
