Job Description:
Position includes recovering patients from anesthesia as well as managing postoperative care, including recovery from general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and IV sedation. We are a 28 bed PACU, providing service to a variety of surgical services, such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery including spine surgery, plastic surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiac procedures (TAVR), bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT and OMF surgery. Also included is managing the recovery of GI advanced procedure patients as well as outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients.Β We are a fast paced unit receiving patients from 40+ operating rooms and we provide service 24/7.Β ICU experience is preferred although we will consider nurses with ED, Step-down and floor level experience on an individual basis.Β ACLS certification is required for external candidates as we frequently care for ICU and step-down patients. Nurse/Patient ratio is 2:1. We are looking for candidates with a positive outlook, an open mind and a βcan-doβ attitude.
Qualifications
- Current Connecticut RN License.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
- ICU experience preferred
- BSN Preferred
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.

- Set schedules: 8 hour to 32 hours per week as well as per diem.
TheΒ Registered NurseΒ utilizes psychiatric/chemical dependency nursing skills as a direct client care provider and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.Β The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or the RN Designee and is responsible for the delivery of direct client care to clients individually, in groups and in the milieu. The RN is a role model for other staff members and is a leader in teaching other staff, in program development, in guiding group decision making, in developing and implementing treatment plans and improving the quality of care.Β The RN adheres to Hospital policies and procedures as well as applicable accreditation standards and state and federal regulations towards excellence in client care.Β Β

Position Description:
The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room. Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room. Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards. Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patientβs specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care. Participates in quality improvement activities.
The Neuro Operating Room (OR) team provides highly specialized care for patients undergoing neuro and spine surgeries. Conditions treated include brain tumors, vascular malformations, essential tremors, degenerative spine disease, chronic back pain, neuro/spine trauma, spinal cord injuries, infections, hydrocephalus, and complications from acute stroke. Nurses play a critical role in delivering this specialized care, ensuring patient safety and well-being throughout these complex procedures.

Job Summary
B7E and 7E Step Down is a fast-paced, highly collaborative teachingΒ unit serving medical patients suffering from an acute illness or injury, or experiencing an exacerbation of a chronic condition affecting one or more body systems. The unit has a strong respiratory focus but treats the full range of medical diagnoses. Β Step down servesΒ critical care patients with additional interventions including, but not limited to, cardiac drips, insulin drips, Bipap, and chronic vents.Β Β

The Surgical-Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 14-bed unit. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the mainstream patient population includes motor vehicle trauma, orthopedic injuries, vascular surgical, abdominal surgical, liver and kidney transplant, and extensive esophagectomy patients. Under the supervision of the rounding Surgical-Trauma Intensivist, the unit has a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses and surgical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents.
Job Summary
The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a work group to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective patient and family centered care is provided in support of the hospital's strategic plan, and the function's goals and objectives.
This position works collaboratively with functional leadership and is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the assigned department including off shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff. - Bachelor's degree required.* Master's degree preferred. One degree must be in Nursing.
- Certification in nursing administration is required within 5 years of assuming position.
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant clinical experience.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Demonstrated progressive leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
- Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an individual basis. For example, a strong candidate in the process of completing the educational requirement will be considered. Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement within five years will be required.

We have partnered with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Programβ’ to provide resources to help new nurses gain confidence and increase competence during this 12-month program. Your well-being as a new nurse is enhanced through hands-on training and processing clinical experiences. Nurse Residents will be hired directly to a specialty area where they will receive focused clinical education. The positions offered vary based on the needs of the hospital and may include Med / Surg / Telemetry, Emergency and Operating Room. In addition to clinical immersion on the unit, Nurse Residents meet in a classroom format to share experiences and receive additional education and training.

Job Summary

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse will have expertise in the cardiovascular specialty areas. Their role will integrate the components of clinician, teacher, consultant and researcher into direct patient care.
Responsibilities:
β’ Completes Initial Assessment for patients referred to the outpatient cardiac
rehabilitation program
β’ Identifies indications for participation, contraindications
for participation and specific monitoring needs and risk factor modification
goals for each patient.
β’ Completes patient education/counseling and documents treatment plan, including measureable goals, tailored to the individualized goals/needs of each patient referred to the program.
β’ Evaluates, monitors and documents multiple patients response to exercise therapy prior to, during and after exercise therapy. This ongoing assessment includes blood pressure, heart rate, rate of perceived exertion, telemetry/EKG, and may also include oxygen saturation, daily weight, blood sugar and ventricular assist devices
β’ Reports any significant participant acute conditions (e.g: dysrhythmias, blood pressure, angina symptoms, weight gain) to the supervising physician immediately. Reports ongoing, abnormal trends to physician/provider as needed (ex: elevated blood pressure; abnormally low blood pressure, episodes of hypo/hyperglycemia) via event report.
β’ Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy.
β’ Completes tasks related to patient recruitment, insurance pre-certification, registration, and records management (Scott Care, Epic) as needed.
β’ Keeps current in the field of cardiac rehabilitation through journals, in-services, mock codes, conferences and staff meetings

β’ Previous Cardiac Rehab experience preferred with knowledge of exercise therapy

β’ Meets the skills criteria for Cardiac Rehab Nurse Competencies.
