*Summary: *Responsible for applying knowledge of sound early childhood education, development concepts, and principles within the goals and philosophy of the center by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Plans and implements a full-day, year-round, developmentally appropriate curriculum including weekly lesson plans, and rotation of toys and equipment on a regular basis.
· Provides a safe, responsive, and stimulating environment by actively engaging children in daily activities and routines.
· Communicates regularly with each parent about the program and their child’s progress.
· Completes children’s evaluations and assessments as required and maintains accurate knowledge of documentation in children’s files.
· Abides by all applicable Health and Safety policies and maintains a clean and sanitary classroom environment.
· Develops and maintains a portfolio for each child.
· Adheres to all established policies, procedures, and code of ethics.
· Conducts two parent-teacher conferences per year with each family.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:* Directly supervises associate teachers, aides, and volunteers in the classroom. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
*Qualifications:* Must be at least 18 years of age. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All applicants must be able to obtain Act 33/34, FBI, and NSOR clearances, and complete a physical screening.
*Education/Experience:*
Current CDA credential, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required. At least two years of experience working with children three to five years in a childcare center setting required. Experience working with special needs and/or behavior disorders with one year in a classroom setting preferred.
*Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:* Compassion, patience, energetic, calm, nurturing, leadership, management, interpersonal communication, oral and written communication, professionalism, , and problem-solving skills.
