Carilion Children’s is seeking a Developmental Pediatrician or Developmental Pediatrician Section Chief to join—and help lead—our growing Child Development Clinic, a statewide resource supported by the Maternal and Child Health Services Title V Block Grant through the Virginia Department of Health.
This position is being recruited to support significant program growth driven by increasing regional need, expanded partnerships, and Carilion’s commitment to improving access to developmental and neurodevelopmental care for children across Virginia.
This role is based at Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center, our pediatric multidisciplinary center of excellence, serving as a hub for integrated pediatric subspecialty care, therapy, and family-centered services.

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) is a unique partnership between a public research university (Virginia Tech) and a private health care organization (Carilion Clinic) and is a fully LCME accredited, four-year allopathic medical school. The school is among the first of the new generation of medical schools in the United States. While VTCSOM opened as a private school in 2010, the school became part of Virginia Tech as its ninth college on July 1, 2018. The school’s charter class entered in August 2010, and each class averaged 42 students, with recent incremental increases to 49, 51, and 56 students with plans to increase the class size to 96 in a new building in 2028-29. The innovative curriculum is divided into four domains: basic science, clinical science, research, and interprofessionalism. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, headquartered in Roanoke, VA, is seeking a full-time Academic Specialist in General Obstetrics and Gynecology to meet its growing needs at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763-bed academic/tertiary care hospital with Virginia State-designated Level 1 Trauma Center and Level III Nursery serving nearly one million people throughout southwestern Virginia.
The faculty member will have a full spectrum general obstetric and gynecologic practice in a community-based academic environment and join a group of 19 other OB/GYN physicians and 9 Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The candidate must have excellent clinical skills and enthusiasm for medical education of residents and students. Candidates must be an MD or DO and be board-certified or be an active candidate for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in Virginia. A faculty appointment, commensurable with experience, is available at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

Vascular Neurologist at Large Academic Medical Center in Virginia
Carilion Clinic is a large, academic medical center with Level 1 Trauma and Primary Stroke Center designation with Gold Seal from Join Commission and plans to obtain Comprehensive Stroke Program designation. We are seeking additional vascular neurologists. Someone with leadership interests could also serve as the Stroke Medical Director. Neurocritical care experience is preferred but not required.
