Position description
The College Writing Programs at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach summer courses in the College Writing Programs should openings arise. The number of positions varies from summer to summer, depending on the department's needs. All positions are handled on a by-agreement basis.
Programs include:
English Language and Culture: Our English for Academic and Specific Purposes courses are aimed at high-beginning through advanced-level students who want to enhance their English language skills, improve job performance, or undertake university work. Courses are offered both online and in person and are grounded in theme-based and project-based learning.
Creative Writing: Courses include short fiction and drama, nonfiction, poetry, and performance and reading. Most courses are 3-week workshops, although a few are in a longer 6-week format. They are offered both online and in person. A record of publication in creative writing is preferred for creative writing teaching candidates.
Public Speaking: We offer introductory, advanced, and online public speaking courses for lower-division students. All are in a 6-week format.
Reading and Writing in the Disciplines: Courses focusing on education; writing in the biological sciences, law, and business; and other disciplines are offered both online and in person.
Reading & Composition (Berkeley students): We offer online sections of required courses for Berkeley undergraduates, who receive priority enrollment. Instructors must be experienced in teaching composition. Course lengths vary from 8 to 10 weeks.
Job duties:
Successful applicants will teach one or more summer courses. Applicants will be responsible for all classes, including crafting syllabi, teaching in a classroom environment, and grading student work. Instructors will also be required to attend faculty meetings.
Successful applicants will be interested not only in teaching but also in being part of a faculty team. Participation in faculty development workshops and ongoing self-evaluation are important to our program.
UC lecturers are academic appointees and are represented by an exclusive bargaining agent, University Council - American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement of the UC-AFT.

Reporting to the Director of Premier Club Sports, the Premier Softball Head Coach oversees all aspects of the college's Premier Club Softball program, providing leadership, organization, and instruction to student-athletes. Main responsibilities include recruiting, securing a complete team roster, team management, fundraising, and budget management. Being competitive and goal oriented is essential. The J.D. and LL.M. programs host a diverse and constantly evolving curriculum. Hundreds of courses are offered, including dozens in our top-ranked Law and Technology, Business Law, International Law, Environmental Law, and Social Justice programs.
This pool encompasses courses in litigation and transactional lawyering skills, including negotiation, pre-trial practice, civil trial practice, criminal trial practice, appellate advocacy, legal writing, drafting, legal research, alternative dispute resolution, oral advocacy, mediation, and other related professional practice education. These courses are taught experientially, using extensive simulation, video, and other "learning by doing" pedagogies.
Instructors for lecture courses are appointed in the Lecturer title; instructors for experiential center courses are appointed to the Field Work Supervisor title. The applicant selected will have important teaching responsibilities, including preparing course materials (such as the syllabus) and maintaining a course website, and will also be expected to hold office hours, assess and offer feedback on student work, assign grades, and advise students.
UC Lecturers and Field Work Supervisors are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by the American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.

The Opportunity
The University of Central Florida, College of Medicine (UCF COM) is seeking exceptional candidates for two full-time faculty positions within the Department of Medicine's Aerospace Medicine program at the assistant, associate or professor of medicine rank. These positions are available in either the tenure or non-tenure track. Candidates will contribute to the academic missions of education, research, and clinical services.
The successful candidates will engage in teaching activities across undergraduate and graduate programs, including the development of new courses, and collaboration with interdisciplinary faculty. In addition, they will actively contribute to research endeavors and secure extramural funding to support innovative aerospace medicine initiatives. The chosen candidates will be tasked to:
Expand the UCF COM aerospace medicine research program, with a focus on hypothesis-driven investigator-initiated externally funded studies. This will be facilitated by a robust human research team and extensive logistic administrative support.
Another aim is collaborative research and technology development with our faculty colleagues in the College of Optics and Photonics (e.g., for laser devices) and the College of Engineering and Computer Science, among the 12 other colleges.
Support the development of a new Aerospace and Extreme Environments Medical Systems Integration and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory.
Design, develop, and conduct experiments in the domain of aerospace medicine and extreme medicine, facilitated by the use of the Aerospace and Extreme Environments Medical Systems Integration and Rapid Prototyping Laboratory and other UCF resources such as a newly established biobank for aerospace medicine and extreme environments.
Support the development and operation of undergraduate and graduate training programs in aerospace medicine and extreme environments.
Provide high-quality teaching in undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including course design, classroom instruction, and mentoring students in aerospace medicine topics.
Support the development of new commercial services for space biomedical research with government, industry, and academia.
Provide leadership and service to the Department, College and University (by such activities as committee participation and learner mentorship), as well as to the state of Florida and the broad academic community.
Promote a culture of innovation and excellence in the Department of Medicine's Aerospace Medicine Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
M.D., D.O., or Ph.D. degreefrom an accredited institution in a related discipline.
Five years of postgraduate relevant experience in aerospace medicine. Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary projects and fostering government, academic, and industry partnerships.
Consistent track record of research and peer-reviewed publications in aerospace and relevant extreme environments medicine.
Consistent track record of substantial funding from NASA, DoD or related sources.

The O'Donnell Center for Behavioral Economics and Finance, housed jointly in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics, seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar-Employee, with expertise in behavioral economics or behavioral finance, and strong econometric or theory training.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be part of Berkeley's O'Donnell Center for Behavioral Economics and Finance, housed jointly in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics. The center's mission is to support rigorous academic research in various areas of behavioral economics, including all areas of applied microeconomics, financial economics, macro-finance, political economy, public economics, and health economics. We also pursue research in collaboration with researchers in neuroscience, cognitive science, and medicine. Ulrike Malmendier and Stefano Della Vigna, both joint faculty members at the Haas School of Business and the Department of Economics, co-direct the center. Faculty from the departments of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Economics, the Haas Business School, the School of Public Health, the Goldman School of Public Policy, and the Information School are affiliated with the initiative. Ulrike Malmendier will be the primary faculty lead.
Duties of Position:
The position offers direct engagement in new and exciting research opportunities and personal mentorship from faculty and other researchers on the team. Scholars will gain an expanded network of collaborators and become members of the UC Berkeley research community by actively participating in seminar series and taking advantage of various internal workshops to present and receive feedback on their work. The postdoctoral scholar will also have time for their own complementary research. The scholar will also be expected to join and develop a research agenda in collaboration with their supervisor.

The Opportunity
As a national and world leader in space, aerospace, and hypersonics, the University of Central Florida (UCF) has established a center of excellence on this topic and is working to strengthen its research and education mission in this area.
As a part of this broad, university-wide strategic plan, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applicants for multiple 9-month, full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant professor (tenure-earning), or associate professor (tenured). Candidates with a strong background in hypersonics and space systems are highly encouraged to apply. Technical fields of interest include, but are not limited to:
(1) Additive and Advanced Manufacturing for Hypersonics and Space,
(2) Cryogenic and Supercritical Propellant Systems Design, Analysis and Testing,
(3) Laser Diagnostics and Sensors in Hypersonic and Extreme Environments,

All these companies share the same talent pools available in this region. UCF's Orlando location also puts it at the center of the Florida High Tech Corridor. The corridor has an excellent industrial base that includes software, defense, space, simulation and training, and a world-renowned entertainment industry. Adjacent to UCF is a thriving research park that conducts over $2 billion in funded research, hosting more than 100 high-tech companies and UCF's School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training. In response to this unique locational opportunity, The Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER) was founded to focus on student training and research on turbomachinery and associated energy systems for application in power generation, aviation, and space propulsion. CATER has 9 core faculty members at present, with a staff of 5 research faculty, 15 postdoctoral researchers, and 97 doctoral students. It collectively secured $20.3M of new external funding in FY 24-25 and graduates 13 doctoral students per year on average.
The successful candidates would be part of the UCF HYPERSPACE Center ( ), a Center of Excellence (COE) for Hypersonics and Space Propulsion at the University of Central Florida. The motivation of the center is Speed and Space with the goal of achieving ultra-high-speed flight through our atmosphere, and efficient planetary entry and exit, making space exploration and intercontinental travel as routine as intercity travel is today. The center is a national and world leading center in hypersonic and space propulsion, modeling, aerodynamics, laser diagnostics/sensors, extreme environment materials, and additive/advanced manufacturing with Government and Industry funding. Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Applied Mathematics at the time of appointment. For courses with discussion or lab sections, duties may include supervision, training and coordination of Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs).
For General Biology (BIO 1B) Lab Courses: The laboratory class currently covers three major sections: Evolution, Ecology, and Plant Biology/Organismal Diversity. Exercises include investigations into population genetics, phylogenetic relationships, macroevolution, bioindicators, and structure and function of organisms. BIO 1B is a gateway course to the major field of Integrative Biology that consists of three one-hour lectures and one four-hour combined discussion and lab each week. Lecturers will be required to lead one discussion and lab per week, create assignments, grade assignments, attend a Friday instructional meeting, be familiar with lecture, proctor exams, hold office hours and complete other instructional duties as assigned. Senior lecturers mentor new hires and GSIs.

The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, is seeking qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses, graduate courses, and/or special topics workshops should an opening arise in the Fall and Spring semesters, or for the Summer term. This position will be in the dark matter direct detection group in the Physics Department of UC Berkeley, working with Professor Daniel McKinsey and Professor Matt Pyle.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the area of experimental astroparticle physics in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley. Research will focus on TESSERACT dark matter detector development and testing, the construction, commissioning, and operation of the TESSERACT experiment at the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane, analysis of TESSERACT data, and related R&D.

Bharat Professorships in Computational Journalism, at its campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bharat Professorships will further research and innovation that focuses on information access in the public sphere, exploring responsible, civic-minded approaches to computational journalism and civic technologies broadly. We present an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher to join our team as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Inorganic/ Organometallic Chemistry at the University of Central Florida (UCF). This unique position offers a blend of advanced research in molecular inorganic and organometallic chemistry, with a downstream interest in reactivity, catalysis and relevant mechanistic investigations.
The successful candidate, housed in the labs of, and co-advised by Professors John Gordon and Titel Jurca, will play a pivotal role in advancing cutting-edge molecular inorganic chemistry. Responsibilities include the synthesis and characterization of novel coordination complexes employing techniques spanning conventional air-free synthesis, to alternative sono- and mechanochemical methodologies. Relevant complexes will be further studied for reactivity, with potential application to catalytic processes. Additionally, the candidate will participate in standard laboratory responsibilities of upkeep/maintenance, the collective supervision of graduate and undergraduate students, and dedicated activities related to professional development.

Salary range:
The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale for this position: . The current full-time salary range for this position is $75,301 - $199,722. Starting salary will be commensurate with highest degree, past college-level teaching experience, relevant industry experience and equity within the department.
Percent time:
11-100%
The percentage of the appointment will vary, depending on the number of sections taught. Positions are typically part-time.
Instructors teaching one 3-5 unit course during summer sessions will normally be appointed at 11% time.
Instructors teaching one course with three hours of lecture per week during the semester will normally be appointed at 33% time; exact percentages depend on contact hours and other assigned duties.

Position description
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley is generating a new applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors and invites applications for a lecturer position to teach courses in our department in the areas of Energy, Civil Infrastructure and Climate; Constructions Systems; Environmental Engineering; GeoSystems Engineering; Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Materials; Systems (Civil Systems); and Transportation Engineering.
This pool is being generated in case of need to accommodate upcoming course needs and new applicants. We plan to hire for the Spring semester, Summer Sessions , and the Fall semester, if the need arises. Candidates under consideration will be contacted by our department. Selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer.
Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.
General Duties:
In addition to classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining course website.

Job Summary
The Spatial Ecology & Paleontology Lab at Georgia Tech would like to invite applicants for a postdoctoral position. We are seeking a new member of our research community to be jointly supervised by Jenny McGuire (Georgia Tech) and Michelle Lawing (Texas A&M). This postdoctoral research associate would join a vibrant team of international researchers investigating global change ecology.

The position is for one year with the opportunity to extend for an additional year (currently two years of funding in total) and several options for further expansion on upcoming grant submissions.
Responsibilities
Depending on the postdocs expertise and interests, tasks will include a combination of the following:
- Computational analysis to evaluate the climate tracking and climate fidelity of mammal and plant taxa.
- Mentorship and research facilitation of graduate students examining the effects of arid conditions various aspects of taxonomic variety of fossils from Natural Trap Cave, Wyoming.
- Participation in a large international collaboration examining trait-environment relationships.
- Participation in grant writing and collaborative papers. It is our utmost priority to ensure that postdocs in the lab take on projects that will allow them to achieve scientific visibility that will make them as competitive as possible in this difficult job market.
Required Qualifications
An earned doctorate in PhD is required by the start of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal, R programming, spatial analysis, database analysis, and paleontological skills. Adequate knowledge of skeletal morphology of mammals or reptiles would benefit the candidate.
