Position: Sr. Staff Base Software Engineer β OS & Middleware (Telematics ECU)
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. Staff Base Software Engineer β OS & Middleware to lead the architecture, design, integration, and optimization of embedded Linux operating systems and middleware platforms for next-generation Telematics Control Units (TCU).
This role will drive secure, scalable, and high-performance base software solutions supporting 4G/5G connectivity, GNSS, eCall, OTA updates (FOTA/SOTA), V2X, remote diagnostics, and cloud-connected vehicle services. The ideal candidate will provide strong technical leadership and ensure cybersecurity, functional safety, and ASPICE compliance across telematics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and integration of embedded Linux OS and middleware for TCU platforms
- Define and implement secure boot, root-of-trust, secure key management, and OTA update mechanisms
- Architect and integrate 4G/5G modem, GNSS, and secure cloud communication stacks
- Integrate and optimize V2X communication stacks (C-V2X/DSRC)
- Drive BSP integration, kernel configuration, driver enablement, and SoC bring-up
- Design IPC frameworks, service orchestration, and system resource management
- Optimize system performance (boot time, CPU scheduling, memory footprint, storage I/O, network throughput)
- Establish performance profiling and instrumentation frameworks
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance with ISO/SAE standards and OEM specifications
- Enable vehicle network integration (CAN, Ethernet, LIN, UDS, DoIP)
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and secure software lifecycle practices
- Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, and production sustainment support
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of embedded software development experience
- Strong programming skills in C/C++
- Direct experience with Linux-based Telematics Control Units
- BSP development, kernel configuration, and SoC bring-up expertise
- Experience with 4G/5G modem platforms (Qualcomm or equivalent)
- Deep knowledge of Linux kernel, drivers, middleware, and networking stack
- Experience with TCP/IP, TLS, MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS
- Secure boot, root-of-trust, and OTA implementation experience
- Strong debugging skills (GDB, crash analysis, kernel logs, trace tools, packet analyzers)
Preferred Qualifications
- Masterβs degree in relevant engineering field
- Knowledge of V2X stack integration, eCall, ERA-GLONASS compliance
- Experience with HSM, TPM, ARM TrustZone
- Containerization/virtualization in embedded Linux (Docker/OCI)
- Boot-time and power optimization experience
- Cloud integration experience (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, automotive backend services)
- Experience with ASIL-B/D systems
- Field issue triage and production sustainment support
Essential Job Functions: Work with various project management offices (vehicle platform offices and C5ISR system offices) in order to evaluate and synchronize program acquisition schedules, integration costs and other requirements pertaining to Army and/or Marine Corps network development.
Develop proposed high-level architectures and strategies for the implementation of C5ISR systems onto ground vehicles.
Author contractual statements of work (SoW) to define vehicle system integration efforts.
Represent the DoD vehicle PM office by overseeing and managing efforts by contractors in their execution of the SoW.
Assist in adjudicating programmatic issues for the ground vehicle office.
Represent our DoD customer while coordinating and interacting with PEOs/PMs, ASN(RDA) G-3/5/7, MCTSSA, CD&I ATEC, TCM and other organizations outside of the ground vehicle office.
Assist in ensuring end-to-end program integration of the communications network to include interoperability testing and certification, safety confirmation, test, kit procurement and logistics integration.
Develop and synchronizes network architectures with Project Management offices for future network capability sets.
Assist in developing and presenting regular status briefs to Project Manager Offices and to Program Executive Offices.
Perform project management duties and create related documents to support these efforts.
Establish and facilitate a standard approach to Cyber Security certification of systems on ground vehicle platforms in order to reduce platform IA certification and test burden.
Serve as assistant advisor to the program office for the integration of current and future DoD communications and network technologies.
Perform management and oversight of the contractor development of vehicle network while assisting with integration of Government furnished systems.
Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S.
Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of year 8 years of experience with engineering of networked systems.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Network architecture development experience.
Project management experience.
Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to work within a team context to both direct and contribute to vehicle system integration and development efforts.
Ability to daily provide high quality support and customer service to the Government customer in a high visibility position.

Work with user representatives and formal DoD requirements documents in order to determine the requirements for a system development or integration effort.
Ability to travel to various customer and contractor facilities and test centers (estimated approx 10% travel).
This position is at a client site.
Candidates must be willing to perform this role 100% on-site.
Desired Skills: Working knowledge of C5ISR, Vetronics and related software on DoD ground combat vehicles.
Electrical, computer, and/or systems engineering experience on DoD ground combat vehicles and/or DoD C5ISR systems.
Experience working with MCTSSA, PEO LS, MCSC or equivalent Army organizations; GVSC, PEO CS&CSS, PEO C3T and/or related PM offices within the Army Materiel Command.
Understanding of the DoD acquisition process.
Experience with in-vehicle data networks.
Experience with U.S.
DoD communications equipment.

Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Warren, Michigan β travel during launch
Duration: 12-month contract β possibility of extensions
Travel: 80% travel β 100% travel during launch phase
OT: 10 hours shifts, weekends
Compensation: $32/hour to $42/hour

Day to Day:
Insight Global is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in Warren, Michigan traveling to any company locations. The Manufacturing Engineer will be working in plant support, your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies, and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. The Manufacturing Engineer will be working with engineers & suppliers through the entire engineering, build, & integration portion, they will then follow the tools to the plant to get them up and running.
Responsibilities:
β’ Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
β’ Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
β’ Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
β’ Provide direction to small group of technical employees
β’ Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment
β’ Interpret product math data and specifications to develop tools and equipment necessary to support the manufacturing process
β’ Propose and evaluate process, tool, and equipment designs
β’ Review and approve tool designs, release tools to build source, and oversee tool build & installation as required to meet business needs
β’ Develop and oversee production of build process documentation to be used on the shop floor
β’ Interact with design and product engineering activities to determine manufacturing feasibility of product designs
β’ Provide technical direction to support personnel, maintenance, and tool design & build suppliers
