PRACTICE SPECIFICS 

Our Gastroenterology section is seeking BE/BC general Gastroenterologists as part of a planned expansion.  Our section serves a state-of-the-art 357-bed tertiary referral center opened in July 2023 with opportunities for outreach into surrounding communities. The facility features an outpatient endoscopy unit and side by side clinic with 8 endoscopy suites and a motility lab, as well as two dedicated endoscopy rooms in the main hospital for inpatient procedures. An IM hospitalist service manages all GI admissions and GI functions as a consultative service. 11 advanced practice providers support outpatient visits and the inpatient GI consultation service including weekends.  This position can accommodate subspecialty interests (IBD, liver disease, esophageal diseases etc.) and we have a goal of minimum 1:8 call schedule. ERCP and EUS experience not required.   

  • Our current group of physicians includes four general gastroenterologists, one gastrointestinal hospitalist, and two general gastroenterologists joining in 2026. We have one therapeutic endoscopist with additional support from a casually employed physician. We have a goal of 8-9 general gastroenterologists and 3 advanced endoscopists.   

  • Compensation is guaranteed base salary with incentive for production for the duration of employment, not an RVU based model, no buy-ins. 

  • State-of-the-art Digestive Health Center performing a full spectrum of endoscopy procedures with opportunities to expand based on physician interest 

  • All GI hospital admissions are managed by IM hospitalist service 

  • University of Minnesota medical school affiliation 

  • Teaching, research and outreach opportunities available 

  • Excellent school districts, ability to live in an urban or rural environment and be minutes from work.

Position Overview

Essentia Health is excited to invite a board-certified or board-eligible Non-Invasive Cardiologist to become a valued member of our outstanding Heart & Vascular team in the beautiful city of Duluth, Minnesota. This full-time opportunity is within a forward-thinking cardiology group dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients.

Practice Specifics

  • Become part of a well-established, multidisciplinary Heart & Vascular team that includes interventional and non-invasive cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, advanced practitioners, and a dedicated nursing and technical staff.
  • Work in state-of-the-art facilities equipped with cutting-edge imaging technologies and a fully equipped cardiovascular lab. 
  • Engage with a diverse patient population, treating a wide range of cardiac conditions. 
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment that values innovation, professional growth, and quality outcomes. 
  • Experience a balanced schedule that promotes excellent work-life integration while working in both ambulatory and hospital outpatient settings, with acute care cardiology rotations supporting the cardiology consult service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular conditions. 
  • Perform and interpret non-invasive cardiac tests, including echocardiography, stress testing, nuclear cardiology, CCT, and CMR. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create personalized treatment plans for patients.
  • Participate in teaching and mentorship opportunities with residents and medical students, shaping the next generation of physicians. 
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and have the option to contribute to clinical research if desired.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree. 

·Board-certified or board-eligible in cardiovascular disease. 

·Expertise in non-invasive imaging modalities. 

·cardiac CT would be desired and CMRI reading would be plus

·Eligible for medical licensure in Minnesota. 

·A strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.

Compensation

  • $674,640.  Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, quality incentives or production-based compensation.
