Job Summary and Qualifications
The HCA Nurse Residency Program at HCA Florida Northside Hospital provides you with the tools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program will assist you with the transition out of the classroom setting through a formalized series of learning experiences, including:
- Advanced clinical training in a specialty area.
- Monthly educational sessions.
- Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor.
- Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations.
- Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders.
- Working collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project.
The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN Resident serves as an advocate for patients, families and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience.
What will you do in this role:
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitor patient for therapeutic response. Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
- Teach patients, families and caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Other Certifications maybe required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State
- No previous experience needed

Seeking a Cardiac Device Tech for our practice who provides clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care. What you will do in this role:
- Provide thorough, proficient pacemaker and AICD interrogation and re-programming to cardiac device patients in person, remotely, and/or via phone transmission.
- Responsible for initial device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alerting physician or non-physician practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.
- Interrogate, interpret, and re-program cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision
- Trouble shoot critical device issues and take immediate steps toward resolution.
- Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document device analysis in EMR for review.
- Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.
- Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.
- Schedule patients for device appointment follow up in EMR and remote website. Immediately contact “no show” patients to ensure they are re-scheduled.
- Assist EP nurses and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching. Consistently travel to regional offices for assigned device clinics.
- Participate in positive, proactive inter- and intra-departmental communication. Promote a healthy clinical environment and good working relationships.
- Serve as a resource to physicians and other practice employees regarding device patients and services.
- Keep equipment in good working conditions and notify appropriate personnel of problem areas or safety issues.
- Ensure programming rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
What Qualifications you will need:
Education:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five years’ experience analyzing and reprogramming cardiac pacemaker and AICDs (Biotronik, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and St. Jude) OR cardiac device technology certification from a recognized device training school.
- Experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions (Carelink, Latitude, and Merlin).
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Current BLS certification preferred.

What you will do in this role:
Perform saccurate documentation of new and return visits to practice.
Ensures timelyreturn of medical records per provider’s written direction and routing
Assists with the planning for patient appointments, including insurance coverage verification and medical record retrieval
Promotes, advocates, and collaborates to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient
Demonstratesproficiencyin cross-training on all clerical operations, and provides coverage as needed for front- and back-office colleagues as assigned.
In coordination with Practice Manager,maintainsadequatelevelof supplies, andmaintainspatient areas as necessary tofacilitateclean, smooth operations.
Participates in practice-based Quality improvement practice and research activities.
Accurately gathers and processes all necessary information and dataregardingmedical records, patient referral,billingand any medical treatment during the patient visit.
Answers and places telephone calls as they relate to job duties and/or retrieve on-line messaging. Records, transmits, and assumes responsibility for relaying incoming telephone and email messages appropriately.
Contributes to continuous process improvement by taking an active role in patient experience and satisfaction
Schedules and confirms patient appointments andreviseappointments as needed.Demonstrates understanding and adherence to all Physician Services policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value Statement.
What Qualifications you will need:
The Medical Assistant Apprentice role is consideredprogressivecompetency-based and subject to direct supervision of a practice-based clinical preceptor team. The Apprentice mustdemonstrateacceptable progress according to the following competency-based skills requirements: Competency-based Skills
Phase I Patient Rooming Vital Signs EKG EMR documentation of skills performed Competency-based skills
Phase II Collecting POC test samples to include Urine & Rapid Strep/Influenza Procedure set up and providerassistanceEMR documentation of skills performed Competency-based skills
Phase III Collecting POC test samples to include: HGB A1C, HGB/HCT, PT/INR Venipuncture and specimen collection EMR documentation of skills performed Competency-based skills
Phase IV Oral Medication administration EMR documentation of skills performed Competency-based skills
Phase V Intramuscular Injections, Subcutaneousmedicationand immunizationadministrationEMR documentation of skills performed. Once competency has been checked off by Clinical Preceptor, the Medical Assistant Apprentice may independently complete back office medical assistant clinical duties as assigned
This position requires the followingminimumrequirements:
Demonstrated customer service and leadership skills, through high school organizational involvement and/orpreviousemployment.
Demonstrated basic office and computer skills.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of MicrosoftWord,and E-Mail.

Desire to work with Patient Populations
Enrolledin PSG Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program isrequired.
One year's prior work experience is preferred.
