This Project Manager 1 position is a member of the MSBA's Construction Administration Team that manages MSBA-funded capital projects from design development through bidding, contract award, construction, commissioning, and project close-out. The Project Manager 1 works with a motivated team reporting to a Project Manager3 for major projects and repair projects. The Project Manager 1 works with public school districts and consultants as part of a MSBA team to ensure conformance with MSBA's policies, agreements, and practices for major projects and repair projects through design development, construction and final audit. The Project Manager 1 will also review district submittals that establish grants for the repair program.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets and scope for major construction and repair projects to ensure compliance with MSBA guidelines and funding agreements, and to track construction progress.
  • Review monthly reimbursement requests for major construction and repair projects and recommend eligibility of project costs for reimbursement.
  • Report on changes to the schematic design budget through the design development and bidding phases, process budget revisions, and review project cash flow for accuracy and variances.
  • Review design development documents and prepare and issue review comments for major projects, identifying any variances to the agreed upon scope identified in the funding agreement.
  • Review cost estimates, project scope and budget submittal to establish the grant for repair projects.
  • Prepare and review change order documentation including recommendation of change order eligibility on major construction and repair projects.

  • Collaborate with the project team to develop a schedule for the timely submittal of all final documents required for final audit of major construction and repair projects. Coordinate with the project team to resolve any outstanding items required and reconcile and approve the final payment.
  • Participate in Capital Planning and Construction Administration subcommittees and procurement committees, on an as needed basis.
  • Participate in the preparation, coordination and presentation of materials required for MSBA subcommittee, roundtables and Board of Director Meetings.

You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to: Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Recruitment

  • Execute on a proactive strategy for lateral partner and group recruitment that supports the firm's growth priorities and practice strengths, including real estate, corporate, litigation, private client and trust, and other core areas.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with legal search professionals, prospective partners, and other market influencers to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation as an employer of choice.
  • Partner with firm leadership to assess and report on market trends, identify talent gaps, and assess strategic opportunities for expansion.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of lateral hiring, including candidate sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, offer development and socialization, and onboarding and integration coordination.

Evaluation & Due Diligence

  • Conduct rigorous candidate assessments, analyzing business plans, financial data, client relationships, and cultural fit in collaboration with firm management.
  • Oversee the due diligence process, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy in all communications and documentation.

  • Manage the Company's Legal Hold process, including issuing Legal Hold and Lift Notices and managing data collection and preservation.
  • Coordinate discovery, including e-discovery, working with outside counsel and IT Security to gather and collect documents and electronically stored information.
  • Manage intake and distribution of Service of Process.
  • Manage Matter Management and Document Management system ensuring timely updates from inception to closure.
  • Manage matter deadlines, files and records and coordinate meetings on responsible matters.
  • Manage the Company's response to all third-party subpoenas and requests for records.
  • Investigate and respond to employment or wage related inquiries from external agencies such as the EEOC or DOL by collecting preliminary facts, organizing relevant documents, and preparing draft position statements for attorney review.
  • Work in partnership with human resources and in-house counsel regarding employee relations and termination issues to include research, direction, and draft forms to comply with federal and state WARN act requirements.
