Key Responsibilities of the CVICU RN:
• Provide advanced, evidence-based care to critically ill cardiovascular and post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Manage ventilators, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, and titratable cardiac drips
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, labs, and hemodynamic data
• Administer medications and therapies per CVICU protocols
• Collaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Respond rapidly to codes and changes in patient condition
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the EMR
Requirements of the CVICU RN:
• Active NY RN license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience
• Strong cardiac assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience with post-CABG, valve replacement, and open-heart recovery preferred
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Position Summary:
This Physician Assistant position is a key member of the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team, providing clinical support in the emergency department (ED) during peak hours for trauma and surgical patients. The PA will collaborate closely with attending surgeons, surgical residents, of the ACS &CC care team to deliver high-quality care to surgical patients. Primary Responsibilities:
* Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider
* Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers
* Perform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service line
* Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED
* Deliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are "boarded" in the ED
* Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
* Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged
* Respond to Emergency Department ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluations
* Document all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
* Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members
* Effectively partner with other members of the ACS & CC team (surgeons, APP, residents, medical students)
* Weekday or Weekend Shifts
* Conduct one quality improvement project annually
* Support the mission of education, research and quality
* Contribute to care team meetings
Qualifications:
* Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
* Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
* BLS and ACLS certifications required.
* Willing to audit or ATLS certified
* 1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred.
* Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
