  • Use expert de-escalation techniques to diffuse volatile situations and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and families.
  • Develop and implement immediate crisis-stabilization plans, collaborating with psychiatrists, social workers, and emergency staff.
  • Administer psychiatric medications, facilitate emergency interventions, and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Conduct suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and continuous monitoring for high-risk patients.
  • Support families and caregivers with clear guidance, empathy, and education during emotionally charged events.
  • Document thoroughly and quickly, capturing behavioral observations and interventions while navigating a dynamic ER environment.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass the dysrhythmia test within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass the BKAT with a score of 80% or complete a critical care course within one (1) year of hire.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications. Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred

  • Three shifts available - first, second, third.  They are 8 hour shifts. 



  • Set schedules: 8 hour to 32 hours per week as well as per diem schedules are available.

The Registered Nurse utilizes psychiatric/chemical dependency nursing skills as a direct client care provider and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.  The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or the RN Designee and is responsible for the delivery of direct client care to clients individually, in groups and in the milieu. The RN is a role model for other staff members and is a leader in teaching other staff, in program development, in guiding group decision making, in developing and implementing treatment plans and improving the quality of care.  



Qualifications


  • Psychiatric experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current Connecticut RN License

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

2.   Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests.  Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with primary care physicians and medical specialists.

3.   In collaboration with clinical and nursing staff, develops and implements a treatment plan that involves and includes the patient in active participation in treatment. And revises the plan as indicated.

4.   Writes orders for  medications, treatments and other matters pertaining to patients care.

5.   Writes progress notes on patient’s charts indicating patient status and treatment recommended.

6.   Provides education to individuals or groups as appropriate and requested by the Medical Director.

7.   Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and provides emotional support to family members when appropriate.

8.   Charts observations, test results and all patient communication in the medical record as directed by Rushford policy and procedure.

9.   Ensures accurate maintenance of patient’s medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.

10.      Advises patients on use of various medication including dosage, side effects and composition.

11.      Reviews and interprets results of diagnostic studies and tests, consults with supervisory physician when appropriate, incorporates information into plan of care.

Job Description
Responsible for managing designated operational unit to ensure superior customer service and patient care in a highly efficient and cost-effective manner. Oversees clinical operations, as well as the day to day operational activities supporting designated practice.  Acts as point person for any and all practice related activities and issues. Able to analyze challenging clinical situations and problem solve and enact solutions.

•       Provides office-based nursing care in collaboration with provider

•       Communicates with provider regarding patient needs, nursing assessments, and recommendations

•       Assesses physical and psychosocial needs and environmental factors affecting patients and their families, formulates nursing plan of care and ensures continuity of patient care through appropriate nursing evaluation and intervention

•       Assists patients and family members or other clients with concern and empathy; Provides information and education to patients and their families based on identified needs

•       Collects and documents current health status and medical history and assists in scheduling patient office visits

•       Reviews patient records, including preoperative records, to ensure completeness and reviews outstanding issues with provider

•       Under direction of provider, calls in prescription medications to pharmacies and observes and documents patient’s response to pertinent medications

•       Administers medications according to policy and procedure

•       Triages telephone calls and displays ability to initiate appropriate nursing intervention in prompt, precise, and professional manner

•       Maintains active involvement with Clinical Quality Improvement activities

•       Monitors employee performance and conducts effective performance evaluation sessions

•       Regularly documents issues, performs disciplinary/coaching sessions and keeps management apprised of significant personnel and operational issues           

•       Participates in orientation of new staff and provides in-service training to new and existing staff as needed to promote compliance with standards

•       Drives the development and execution of short- and long-term business plans by collaborating with physician leadership and corporate administration in strategic planning and marketing for the practice

•       Participates in inter-departmental meetings and serves as liaison to outside stakeholders

•       Develops, implements, monitors and documents policies, procedures, and protocols that ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations

•       Travel required between Norwich and Mystic Infusion offices.

Qualifications
