Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
- Board Certification or Fellowship in Anesthesiology (required) — board-certified anesthesiologist
- Completion of an accredited anesthesia residency
- Current, unrestricted Illinois physician license required
- ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable for international graduates)
- Minimum: 1 year of anesthesia experience; prior hospital-based or locum tenens experience preferred
Core Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative medical management and general anesthesia care for surgical patients
- Perform pre-anesthesia assessments, obtain/verify consent, and discuss anesthetic options and risks
- Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia with comprehensive physiologic monitoring
- Perform clinical interventions and perioperative management as indicated
- Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs ( ratio approximately 1:3) and perform independent cases as required
- Manage a variety of case types including general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and obstetrics
- Contribute to departmental coordination and quality initiatives within the anesthesia service
