Summary: The Financial Analyst is responsible for cost accounting activities with an emphasis on inventory management and cost analysis. This role includes preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly reporting, as well as supporting FP&A activities such as budgeting and forecasting. While fixed asset accounting (currently in FAS, transitioning to SAP) is part of the role, it represents a smaller portion of responsibilities. The position also involves quarterly SOX compliance tasks, ad hoc projects, and additional recurring responsibilities as time permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and analyze inventory cost records and ensure accuracy of cost accounting processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to inventory and costing activities.
- Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
- Prepare various monthly inventory and costing reports.
- Perform job costing reporting and analysis, including weekly job closings and variance analysis.
- Coordinate annual physical inventories at all sites and support year-end inventory standards revision.
- Support cycle count processes by monitoring variances, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring inventory accuracy.
- Perform quarterly LIFO and obsolete/slow-moving inventory reporting and analysis.
- Support FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory and costing.
- Perform quarterly SOX compliance activities, including documentation, testing, and reporting for relevant controls.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations in FAS (transitioning to SAP).
- Participate in ad hoc projects and provide support for additional recurring responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles; familiarity with fixed asset accounting a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems (FAS and SAP preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with FP&A processes and financial modeling.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal controls.

General Statement of Duties:
Responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and producing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to support the programs. This role will also analyze financial variances, collaborate with staff and stakeholders, while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to accurately record transactions for assigned program activity.
- Prepare and review financial statements for HFI programs on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Research and provide explanations for variances from prior period and budget.
- Prepare or review assigned balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis as appropriate and ensure timely follow-up on reconciling items or variances.
- Prepare monthly fixed asset expenditure reports.
- Run credit card activity report, assign General Ledger account coding and collect supporting documentation.
- Run month end, yearend and Board reports.
- Maintain fixed asset subledger by recording additions, disposals and depreciation.
- Participate in all required agency and regulatory training within expected timeframes.
- Works collaboratively with staff, children, families, service providers, and others.
- Promptly reports civil or criminal convictions, charges, arrests, investigations, or adjudications that may arise since staff member's last background investigation. This includes but is not limited to sexual abuse in a prison, jail, holding facility, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, other institution (as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997), or care provider facility; conviction of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or who was civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in such activity.
- Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Must have Act 33/34 and FBI clearances and a valid PA driver's license
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

Job Summary

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Field & Client Experience
Responsible for credible and effective relations and communication with field and customer to include responding to case appeals/inquiries and assists with placing business.
Provides guidance and assistance to the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Financial Representatives regarding case underwriting and risk appraisal
Responsible for prescreen inquiries.
Underwriting
Responsible for the analysis and appraisal of a broad range of insurance applications; approves, classifies, or declines applications for various ages and policy amounts with guidance, as needed.
Independently reviews applications and adheres to underwriting standards and demonstrates an intermediate level of experience with NM product types and changes.
Develops and demonstrates change agility while maintaining mortality and morbidity expectations.
Demonstrates continuous learning through the early adoption of new ways of underwriting.
Develops proficiency with Reinsurance programs and determining where to best place a case.
Underwrites applications, maintaining industry-leading mortality and morbidity giving the best possible offer that can be made. Provides active case and requirement management and provides customized service with guidance.
Communicates & negotiates with Field Partners to explain modified or declined decisions & assist in policy placement.
Develops proficiency in financial, medical, and lay underwriting assessments and provides innovations solutions to keep Northwestern Mutual as the choice of our customers.
Actively utilizes the most effective means to obtain the necessary information, including digital health data, Internet searches, direct contact with the insured, and communication with third party advisors (Accountants, Attorneys, etc.) with limited guidance.
Discusses cases with peer reviewers with medical and technical staff, as needed.
Understands and meets all quality, service, and production goals.
Solves issues & escalations, with guidance as needed.
Partners with Underwriting Support for case management
Cross-functional leadership
May serve as underwriting representative for improvement in product process w/collaboration w/functional partners. Participates in other projects as needed.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
1.5 years of traditional underwriting experience.
Analytical skills with the ability to make independent decisions and apply sound judgment in the application of rules.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information, and exercise tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness.
Proficient in computer skills and using various software packages.
Ability to work accurately while maintaining speed and flexibility in a team and independent production environment.
Highly organized with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Displays agility to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a changing work environment.

- Take complete and accurate mortgage, 1st lien, Home Equity, and HELOC loan applications for all real estate loan requests, following applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Manage individual application pipelines and assist in collecting additional processing documents as needed. Assist in managing pipelines of team members as needed.
- Assist in achieving overall departmental and individual goals by delivering real estate loans per the established service standards of delivery.
- Communicate with all parties concerning the processing loan applications including borrowers/buyers, realtors, builders, inspectors, etc.

- Experience in using an automated loan origination systems including automated underwriting platforms.

Position Summary:
Compliance Officer facilitates the Credit Union's compliance strategy and reviews changes in regulations to ensure compliance with all credit union related laws and regulations.
