Description: The VA in Pittsburgh seeks a full-time, highly talented Anesthesiologist to provide care for a wide variety of cases including general, neurosurgical, orthopedic, plastic, thoracic, and vascular surgery, as well as out-of-OR anesthesia for GI an EP procedures. Among the most innovative and forward-looking in the nation, the VA in Pittsburgh provides exceptional healthcare to our nation's Veterans, trains America's future healthcare providers, and conducts research that contributes to medical advancements.
Practice Highlights:
Initial evaluation and overall workups, and focused history & physicals of medical/surgical patients as needed, including evaluation of patients as part of our multidisciplinary pre-op clinic.
Peri-operative anesthetic care to patients, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic administration and monitoring, and post-anesthesia care in an anesthesia team model with CRNA and/or anesthesia residents. Rotating evening and weekend call coverage for urgent cases is considered a key responsibility.
Expertise with a wide variety of anesthesia techniques and procedures (experience with breath of anesthesia techniques), including regional and spinal anesthesia.
Provision of clinical anesthetic care to cardiothoracic and liver transplant surgical patients; board certification in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography is highly preferred.
Teaching of anesthesia residents, medical students, and student nurse anesthetists (clinical affiliation with University of Pittsburgh).
Participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives, committees, and any other relevant activities as appropriate, including VASQIP.

Basic Requirements:
Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent degree from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Our physicians provide bedside wound care in over 3,200 facilities across 28 states.
We provide physician level wound management training and a wound fellowship giving you all the knowledge and expertise for clinical excellence.
W2 full-time physicians earn on average $300,000 per year plus benefits.

Our physicians conduct weekly wound rounds at each facility.
Part-time role is a minimum of 3 days per week. Full time role is 4 - 5 days per week.
This is a mobile practice: The physicians visit facilities in a 40 – 60 mile radius of practice location.
Our physicians visit 2-3 facilities per day treating approximately 20-30 patients per day.
Clinical documentation is at point of care, in real-time during clinical rounds, using our proprietary wound specific EMR.
Paid Training is provided during onboarding + 6 months wound care fellowship
