Position Overview:

The purpose of this position is to serve in the Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing capacity. Additionally, this position will provide support to leadership and create an atmosphere that provides continuity of quality patient care in the emergent hospital environment. Learning to ensure all aspects of the hospital are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and compliance with licensing and accreditation standards.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for covering a minimum of three 12-hour clinical Registered Nurse shifts weekly per Hospital Administrator direction, to include:
  • Plan, prioritize, and provide proficient, age-specific and developmentally/specialty appropriate nursing care by applying advanced specialty clinical nursing knowledge and skills and for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients/families
  • Proficiently and consistently complete accurate, concise and legible documentation on medical records
  • Observe and record signs, symptoms and behaviors including the physiological status of patients
  • Presents proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes to the physician
  • Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
  • Follow physician’s orders in the delivery of nursing care
  • Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
  • Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care
  • Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care given
  • Assemble equipment and supply for various diagnostic or treatment procedures in the specialty service area; performs or assists others with procedures or treatments. Handle care in accordance with legal, hospital/facility, departmental policies and procedures, and established standards of nursing care and practice, as defined by the Board of Nursing of that State
  • Safe handling of food preparation for patients
  • This position will also serve in the capacity of the Director of Nursing, to include:
  • Assists with all functional aspects of overseeing the hospital including Nursing, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Patient Access and Dietary when Hospital Administrator is unavailable at the site or based on instruction from the HA.
  • Supports senior leadership during facility inspections by licensing and accrediting agencies.
  • Evaluates and addresses the educational needs of the market.
  • Assists in the implementation of the quality management and reporting system.
  • Assists with process improvement activities and corrective action plans in the facility.
  • Assists with tracking any incidents to determine patient safety events; including administrative review of follow-up letters as required for serious events, and patient grievance follow-up in collaboration with the Patient Experience team.
  • Assists with interim coverage of vacant or absent leadership positions within the region.
  • Assists with ensuring all functional areas are fully staffed with continuous coverage; including
  • Assists with new and continued education and following up with staff, including tracking of staff certifications and licenses.
  • Assist the Hospital Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer in implementing policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • The position can make recommendations to the Hospital Administrator on the selection and promotion of nursing personnel based on established job descriptions and individual qualifications and capabilities.
  • Assists the Administrator-On-Call (AOC) with admission reviews
Other Job Functions:
  • Monitors facility quality indicators and supports development of resolution plans by working closely with regional and corporate functions such as safety and infection control.
  • Complies with all established policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Attends staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandatory meetings as required.
  • Supports Hospital Administrator with fiscal accountability through scheduling and ordering supplies.
  • Travels to all facility locations as requested.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree preferred; MSN, preferred
  • 5+ years total nursing experience, preferred
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions, required
  • 2+ years critical care or PCU experience in an acute care hospital, preferred
  • Knowledge of JCAHO or DNV standards, preferred
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association, required
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, preferred
  • Experience with high acuity, ICU Medical/Surgical patients, preferred
  • 2+ years Emergency Department experience in an acute care hospital, preferred
  • Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication

The hours of this position would be mid-shift from 12:00pm - 8:00pm.


Position Summary:

Health & Fitness is a 38,000 sq. ft. facility (private club) with 550 members. A beautiful and well-maintained facility in downtown Pittsburgh, catering to executive level business clientele, who are accustomed to personal service delivered at 100% satisfaction. The club features 2 squash courts, massage rooms, Pilates, indoor cycling studio, exercise studio, golf simulator, a barber shop, a dining room and three administrative offices.


At the Duquesne Club, you will work alongside a passionate team of professionals. This position acts as the assistant manager for Health and Fitness. Assisting the Director in maintaining the high standards of service, programming, safety and cleanliness of the Club. Manage and trains staff in a variety of roles—exercise technicians/specialists, locker room attendants, laundry attendants, barber, and front desk personnel. One will build a rapport and be the liaison with the Independent Contractors--personal trainers, massage therapists, Pilates instructors and class instructors. One will also assist the Club in attracting new members and the retention of existing members.


Key Responsibilities:

· Assist and oversee daily operations of fitness center and its various outlets/programming.

· Responsible for overseeing all staff and ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.

· Assist in all areas of General Administration as determined by manager (relief work, vacation, sick time, emergencies, etc.)

· Be accessible and visible to membership.

· Respond to emergencies. Learn procedures to assist with medical and building emergencies, i.e., fire, security, etc.

· Responsible for recruiting, coordinating the schedules of Independent Contractors for group exercise instructors and other services, i.e., massage therapist, nutritionist, etc.

· Inventory supplies and order as needed.

· Works together with Director of Communications to provide information to Members.

· Keeps members informed and engaged by decorating bulletin boards with fitness related information, recipes, tips, etc.

· Instruct a weekly class for the members.

· Assist in planning of members’ activities inside and outside of the club.

· Conduct tours to perspective members, etc.

· Attend educational programs related to fitness.

· Perform the responsibilities of the Director of Health and Fitness in their absence.

· Be knowledgeable of Club rules, by laws and general operations to handle member inquiries and enforce accordingly.

· Be knowledgeable of the building, dining rooms, corporate suites, facilities, etc. so that accurate directions may be given.

· Be knowledgeable of the Duquesne Club’s location and its surrounding areas should anyone ask for directions or information regarding the city’s transportation systems, current and daily event happenings, i.e., sporting, social functions, etc.

· Bring issues that arise to the attention of Management. Complete administrative paperwork necessary and forward to Supervisor.

· Observe grooming and personal hygiene standards, rules of conduct, policies and procedures established for the Duquesne Club.

· Attends Club meetings/trainings as assigned.

· Ensures that all safety, emergency procedures, OSHA standards, worker’s comp procedures are practiced. Reporting any hazards or injuries to their supervisor or human resources.

Conducting investigative inquiries using various techniques, examining files and records, physical and documentary evidence to identify logical conclusions.

Utilizing cameras and other electronic high-tech surveillance equipment to gather evidence, collect, evaluate, and then preserve that physical and documentary evidence.

Highly skilled in writing comprehensive arrest, criminal and incident reports.

Assisting government or state attorneys in preparation for court cases or grand juries, testifies as a law enforcement officer in court proceedings, and administrative forums.

Considerable experience applying arrest authorities and constitutional law in various alleged criminal situations, or knowledge and experience of CBP laws, regulations, policies, legal precedent.
