Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Mental Health Department provides recovery-oriented services, such as WRAP, Personal Medicine, Power Statement and Advanced Directives. All service delivery is based on the departments guiding principles which include a focus on consumer strengths and choice.
The Clubhouse Generalists primary responsibility is to assist and participate in the functioning of the clubhouse, to include overseeing assigned unit. Work hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Some flexibility is required for night, weekend and holiday coverage. Generalists hours will predominantly be spent within the clubhouse. Due to the nature of this program, it is essential that staff exemplify the philosophy of the Agency, as well as fidelity to the clubhouse model.
The position will occasionally require travel, overnight stays and unusual work hours to attend trainings.
CRITICAL ELEMENTS:
1) Unit-Related Responsibilities: Assuring that the work for the day is completed, by engaging members and sharing direct responsibility for task completion. Assure that adequate work exists for the unit and work to engage all members signed up for that unit.
2) Support Services: Provide support and encouragement to members within the clubhouse. To train and provide ongoing support to those members in transitional employment (TE) positions and independent employment. Assist program coordinator and other staff in the development of new TE placements. Identify and refer members to any needed services.
3) Documentation: Responsible for keeping accurate documentation as required by program procedures. Assist members in opening and maintaining a record on each program participant. Assisting members in completing goal plans in a timely fashion. Assure that member records meet licensure and funding source requirements.
4) Professional Development: Obtain and maintain credentialing/training as directed by the program coordinator. Attend weekly case supervision meetings with the program coordinator.
ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS:
1) Generalists will be responsible for participating in night, weekend and holiday coverage.
2) Attend, complete and show documentation for 24 hours (twenty-four) of training per year. Annually at least 18 (eighteen) of these hours must be in psychiatric rehabilitation.
3) Participate in Agency, department and program activities.
4) Attend trainings as required.
5) Follow and support Agency philosophy, policies and procedures.
6) Assist in the transportation of consumers.
7) Work toward meeting minimum qualifications for psychiatric rehabilitation worker.
8) Other duties as assigned by the Clubhouse Program Coordinator.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, prefer a Bachelors Degree in Social Services and a minimum of two (2) years experience in human services which must include one (1) year of direct mental health experience. Must have completed or will attend 12 (twelve) hour psychiatric rehabilitation orientation training within one (1) year of hire; 21 (twenty-one) years old; valid Pennsylvania Drivers License and reliable transportation and insurable driving record. Pennsylvania State Police Background Check. Must have already completed or will attend three (3) week training at an International Center of Clubhouse Development (ICCD) certified training base within two (2) years of employment, at the program coordinators direction.

• Reviews event reports daily. As requested, assists the entity patient safety officer in the event of investigation and in decisions concerning regulatory reporting issues.
• Conducts educational sessions on risk issues for the various entities as necessary.
• Investigates allegations of inappropriate treatment/care which results in injury (or alleged injury) to a patient/visitor and determines next steps.
• Drives proficiencies in claims processes and investigations to reduce litigation costs by tracking, reviewing, and analyzing newly litigated cases. Determines the complexity and value of litigated claims for possible resolution, attending trial as needed. Reviews and analyzes initial case assessment and legal strategy and assists in the development of litigation strategy.
• Collaborates with leadership to develop reporting metrics (for example, reporting metrics packet) and develops reports and communicates results of current and potential litigation trends to leadership, including, but not limited to, communicating updates such as pre-trial reminders, daily trial updates, and summaries of cases where an increase in indemnity reserves is being requested, as well as any other critical updates.
• Identifies, gathers, and preserves discovery items, or items requested by defense counsel that will assist with an investigation, related to existing or potential litigation.
• Manages and oversees outside counsel on litigation, discovery matters, litigation costs, negotiations, and settlement agreements by identifying and assigning counsel to handle claims.
• Reviews and approves outside counsel invoices to ensure billable hours are appropriate for each case and rejects incorrect invoices and follows up with outside counsel when there are questions with respect to such invoices.
• Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
• Provides management services to the WellSpan reciprocal Risk Retention Group, and coordinates activities of governing board, attorneys, and consultants.
