- Responsible for all patient care employees receiving appropriate training according to FMS policy, including training to ensure ongoing compliance with all FMS risk management initiatives.
- Provides opportunities for professional growth, and training to ensure clinical competence and the ability for licensed staff to assume Team Leader responsibilities

- Responsible for maintaining and updating all FMS manuals.
- Accountable for completion of the Annual Standing Order Review and ICD coding.

The ACHD Program Physician Director will provide clinical, administrative and strategic leadership for Akron Children's ACDH program by ensuring high – quality, guideline -directed care for adults with congenital heart disease, facilitates seamless transition from pediatric to adult services, and strengthens collaborative care pathways with adult cardiology, cardiac surgery, obstetrics, anesthesia, and other specialties.

The role combines direct patient care (inpatient and outpatient), program oversight, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and growth strategy aligned with institutional goals.

Services include advanced diagnostics, complex surgical procedures, an adult congenital heart disease program, a fetal imaging program and a cardiac MRI program.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree

  • Board certification in Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease

  • ACHD board eligibility or certification

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state

  • Demonstrated experience caring for adult congenital heart disease patients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ACHD board certification

  • Experience in program building or leadership
