About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Intake Attorney to join a growing personal injury law team in Norfolk, VA. The Intake Attorney will be the first legal touchpoint for potential clients, conducting consultations, evaluating case validity, and guiding clients through the early phases of their claim. This role is perfect for someone with strong personal injury law knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping clients during critical moments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Meet (in person and/or virtually) with prospective clients to conduct intake interviews, assess facts and injuries, and determine legal viability of claims
  • Review medical records, accident reports, and other documentation to evaluate case merits and determine next steps
  • Advise clients about legal rights, possible outcomes, and what to expect in the claims process
  • Gather and organize relevant evidence, including medical records, police reports, and photographs
  • Maintain accurate intake notes, case summaries, and conflict checks
  • Clearly explain firm processes, timelines, and updates to clients during early phases
  • Coordinate with paralegals, investigators, and support staff to ensure cases are properly prepared from the beginning
  • Assist in drafting initial demand letters or pre-litigation documents when appropriate
  • Monitor compliance with statutes of limitations and other legal deadlines


Qualifications & Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree, licensed to practice law in Virginia
  • Prior experience (2+ years preferred) in personal injury law, particularly in intake or early case evaluation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly assess case strengths and weaknesses
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with empathy for injured clients
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple intakes simultaneously
  • Professional demeanor with client-focused mindset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance claims, and litigation processes a plus

The Opportunity

Responsibilities

  • Manage 30–40 active litigation files, including discovery, depositions, motions, and client reporting.
