As a Sr. Harness Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the Vehicle Design and Integration team and will report to the Vehicle Design and Integration Engineering Manager. This team is a small group of highly motivated engineers designing, integrating, testing, and flying advanced mechanical and electrical systems. The harness engineer is a very cross-functional role at the convergence of the avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, with significant hands-on work designing, building, integrating, and testing our harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware; expect to broaden your design and application experience. This position can be filled locally or hybrid with frequent travel to our facility in Mountain View, California.

Responsibilities

In your role as Sr. Harness Engineer you will work with the avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to define the harness architecture, including routing, bulkhead planning, and manufacturing and integration processes. You'll be responsible for the detailed design of both flight and test harnesses, and you'll be working with the production technicians and A&Ps to get the harnesses built and installed on the aircraft. You'll have the opportunity to design, install, and test your hardware on a remotely operated aircraft, and you'll be an instrumental part of how our hardware teams come together on the airplane.

Basic Success Criteria

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience

• 5+ years experience in electrical harness design

• Ability to route harnessing (both in CAD and physically in the airplane) in a strategic manner

• Experience defining routing and bulkhead requirements

• Experience working with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods

• A love of spatial packaging

• Be logical, inquisitive, and eager to both teach and learn

Preferred Criteria

• 8+ years experience in harness design and avionics packaging

The mechanical team is a small group of highly motivated people designing, testing, and flying advanced mechanical systems. We enjoy cradle-to-grave hardware ownership and hands-on build, test, and integration of our designs. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be an influential part of the Mechanical Engineering team helping to drive engineering methods and product quality. The hardware focus is on high reliability safety critical mechanisms and structures, with significant cross-functional development with the Systems, Avionics, GNC, Software, Manufacturing, and Flight Test teams. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

You will design, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote piloted aircraft. Own your hardware from initial conception through flight test and certification...this is cradle-to-grave engineering with hands-on build, test, and integration. Lead cross-functional trades and drive performance and design decisions to closure. You will bring a sense of humility, and be ready to both learn and teach.

Basic Success Criteria

• BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years professional experience developing mechanical systems

• Mastery of at least one of the following areas: Design, Analysis, Manufacturing, Test, or Certification

How You'll Contribute:

As a Sr. Master Scheduler / Buyer at Reliable Robotics, you'll play a critical role in building relationships with key industry partners/suppliers, driving supplier execution for safety-critical systems, and continuously improving our supply chain processes. You will be part of the Production organization, a growing team of highly motivated professionals passionate about delivering high-quality products and services on time, with unquestionable quality. You will have hands-on responsibility for managing end-to-end supply chain activities, including Material Requirements Planning (MRP), supplier relationship management, procurement, inventory management, and kitting. You will also mitigate supply risks, resolve procurement discrepancies, and drive cost-reduction initiatives while acting as the liaison between engineering, quality, and manufacturing. These responsibilities require a strong understanding of the aerospace/aviation market, business objectives, and supplier capabilities to ensure success. This position requires coordinating with internal customers, managing a complex supplier portfolio, and communicating with leadership to develop, implement, and achieve business objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to be an integral team member directly contributing to the certification of the first fully autonomous aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Lead MRP master scheduling for non-recurring engineering, formal engineering development, certification, and production projects, including conducting capacity analyses to mitigate short and long-term schedule risks, identify systemic issues, resolve shortages, and develop strategies to enable a healthy supply chain

• Ensure predictable and uninterrupted supply by analyzing MRP messages, managing master data, bill of materials (BOMs), inventory replenishment strategies, and expediting deliveries with suppliers

• Develop and implement strategies to drive supplier selection, qualification, commercial negotiations, contract development, and administration

• Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis, including business/financial, capabilities, capacity, quality, throughput, technical capability, and risk assessments

• Prepare, issue, and analyze request for quote (RFQ) / request for proposal (RFP) packages, evaluate quotes, translate engineering requirements into clear requests, negotiate with suppliers, place purchase orders, resolve invoice issues, and manage constraints and supplier performance

• Drive cost savings through leveraging volume pricing agreements with suppliers

Basic Success Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Law, or Engineering

• 6+ years of demonstrated experience in supply chain management, contracts/subcontracts, legal, or engineering

• Drives continuous improvement of key process indicators (KPI) for revenue, on-time delivery, PoNC, PDBL, and cross training.

• This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

Required Skills / Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in defense, aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (i.e. electrical, mechanical, industrial) from an accredited college or university, Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, overseeing diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to achieve business objectives.
• Show a proven track record of driving and influencing change.
• Must be well-versed in leading cross-functional teams.
• Strong involvement in continuous process improvement initiatives.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with RF/Microwave test and assembly equipment is highly preferred.
• Possess Lean Six Sigma and 5S certifications.
• 3+ years of experience in assembly/test and/or fabrication.
• Demonstrate experience in applying Lean principles.
• Showcase experience in coaching, guiding, and mentoring teams.
• Demonstrate proficiency in influencing managers or non-managers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational issues.
• Possess experience with Quality Management Systems.
