About the Opportunity

The Assistant Principal's (AP) primary job responsibility is the supervision, discipline, and monitoring of s students. The AP, under the direction of the Principal, implements and enforces school policies, administrative rules and regulations.

What You'll Do:

As the Assistant Principal, your critical tasks will include but not limited to:

Essential Job Functions:

• Assisting in the development and implementation of all assessments and instructional programs for students

• Guiding setup and organization of class rooms, and creating all master schedules for student and teacher assignment; directing procurement and deployment of curriculum materials and supports by grade and class

• With the Principal, developing and administering guidelines for student conduct and disciplinary procedure and incentives

• Overseeing student arrivals, dismissals and other transitions

• Assisting in planning and supervising extracurricular activities

Instructional Support:

• Observing, evaluating and coaching assigned teachers and other staff members

• Leading professional development sessions as required

• Assisting in creating an appropriate learning and teaching environment (e.g., provisioning concrete strategies to incorporate positive reinforcement, or supporting Multi-Tiered Support Systems)

School Operations:

•Recruiting, hiring, and conducting orientation of assigned teaching and other staff

• Being proactive in solving conflicts, concerns and problems; anticipating potential problems for families or students and planning accordingly

Reporting to the Director of High School Bridge, the Manager of Transition to High School serves as a member of the College & Career Persistence Team and the High School Bridge Team. The Manager of Transition to High School oversees the relationships with high schools, develops tools for high school research, develops processes for evaluating best-fit high schools and enrolling and supporting CJA students and HSB students attending those schools. A successful candidate will ensure that the team has clear, succinct, and distilled processes for high school applications, admissions and enrollment so that students and alumni have access to best-fit high schools.

Essential functions:

• Refine and maintain a curated list of well-vetted, high quality high schools that serve students across diverse learning, social-emotional, economic, financial and geographic needs.
• Refine and maintain a process for collecting information about each high school including information about educational outcomes, safety, information for students and families to contact as references, and clear information about the financial aid process at each school.
• Lead the team through clear processes for applications to public, private and charter schools within the curated lists.
• Support with onboarding new team members to help them learn about the high school landscape and application processes for each type of school.
• Develop and maintain the high school stewardship system that supports grade entry, recommendations, testing, application completion, high school visits and data aggregation.
• Work with the High School Bridge leadership team to evaluate, design and implement programming to best support both students and counselors at each grade level.
• Manage the content for Wednesday Weeklies, a newsletter used to communicate with students' families, for CJA and each of our partner schools.
• Support a caseload of students by actively communicating and engaging with students, alumni and families and coordinating services and supports for various student/alumni issues.
• Update and maintain interactions with alumni confidentially in the Salesforce database.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate should:

• Have a bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of experience in education, social work or non-profit including direct work with youth from disinvested communities.

The Mission

Luce Labs is building the world's first digital platform for chef-grade farming. We are making it possible for Michelin-level chefs to access the freshest, most authentic global produce, grown in their neighborhood, year-round.

This year, we've partnered with some of Chicago's greatest chefs to rigorously test and tune every harvest and help us dial in flavor until it meets Michelin-level standards.

To help us in this effort, Luce Labs is looking for a hands-on Head Grower to lead the operation of our IRIS growth units in our Chicago lab. You will be our resident \"plant whisperer\" and the technical backbone behind our chef tasting partnerships.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• IRIS System Ownership: Lead the setup, calibration, and ongoing maintenance of IRIS hardware. You own the physical stack, from irrigation plumbing and lighting arrays to nutrient delivery, sensors, and environmental controls.
• Plant Health: Monitor plant health daily through observation and intuition. You'll diagnose nutrient imbalances, environmental stress, or pest pressure before they show up on a dashboard.
• Flavor Optimization: Partner with our Head of CEA and Head of Biosciences to hit specific performance targets. You'll fine-tune grow recipes to maximize the flavor (taste, aroma, appearance, and mouthfeel) of our crops.
• Harvest & Curation: Manage timing and plant selection for chef activations. You ensure that every leaf leaving the lab represents the absolute best of what IRIS can produce.
• Food Safety & Compliance: Own the food safety lifecycle. You will implement and maintain protocols (GAP/HACCP) to ensure our lab meets all regulatory standards for human consumption.
• Platform & Controls Input: Help bridge the gap between biology and code by providing requirements for automating nurture decisions and translating plant observations into data.
• Zero-Maintenance Initiative: Support our push toward a \"hands-off\" system by identifying and eliminating common CEA failure modes (biofilm, clogs, drift).

What We're Looking For

• CEA Veterans: 4-6+ years in vertical farming, greenhouse R&D, or commercial hydroponics.
• Mechanical Aptitude: You are \"tool-literate.\" You can troubleshoot PVC plumbing, electrical connections, and dosing equipment without a manual.
• Practical Knowledge: You have a deep understanding of plant physiology and can read the plants, not just follow the recipes.
• Systems Thinkers: You see patterns and can suggest hardware or software fixes that prevent biological issues from recurring.
• Startup-Compatible: You are comfortable with ambiguity and capable of collaborating across diverse disciplines.
• Chicago-Based: Ability to be on-site in our West Loop/Fulton Market lab daily. (We are an early-stage startup and unable to offer relocation assistance at this time).
